Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

Perfect. Love his movie reviews. And I've never played it either.

An Uncharted 4 fan made trailer set to the Mission Impossible: Fallout trailer music. Gave me chills

So, I have been a fan of Raymond E Feist for years. Ever since Magician: Apprentice. I picked up his new book on the Kobo and read it. I really liked it, so I mentioned it on FB.

And then I get the FB "PING".

Wow! Very nice.

Very cool, mudbunny. That also reminds me that I need to read that book - I forgot it came out this year.

Wow! That is not something many people could claim had happened to them, I'd guess!

That's awesome!

I've been a Feist fan since I was 15. I can remember specifically one day in school claiming I "forgot" my gym clothes because I really didn't feel like doing gym class that day, so I just sat on the bleachers and lost myself in Midkemia.

Never really directly got noticed by Feist, but I did have a few short chats with Guy Gavriel Kay (another fantasy author) on Twitter a while back.

Noticed by senpai?! what could be more thrilling!!!

(i realize that might come off sarcastic, its not, that's genuinely awesome)

And we haven’t even touched on the like from Daniel Black, actor, who appeared in such classics as Lake Placid: The final chapter.

A 5e group I'm in is running Storm King's Thunder, and I just circumvented an entire chapter in about an hour and a half by talking our way out of a an encounter designed to force us to explore the dungeon. For those familiar with the campaign we started the Maelstrom chapter about 45 minutes into the session we officially enter the Maelstrom, and we met with the giants and as the first encounter started I went on a 5 minute speech and passed a dc 20 persuasion check and then convinced the guards of the throne room that they were our escort and finished the encounter before we stopped the game for the evening. So basically we survived an encounter that would have been certain death, "explored" a grand total of 5 rooms all of which were mandatory, and then left the dungeon while starting the next chapter.

My local AMC is having a sing-along showing of Bohemian Rhapsody.

I love op-shops/thrift stores! I found Ace Combat 5 for a tidy five dollars. It was the last game I needed to complete the PS2 trilogy, all of which I found at other op shops.

Usually it's just a sea of old sports titles and wii shovelware, so it's nice to find some genuine quality for pocket change.

...Now I just need to hunt down a small-ish CRT to play these on. Anything larger than 19 inch and my partner would kill me

HBomberguy's Donkey Kong 64 stream where he's raising money for Mermaids in the UK, an organization that helps trans kids & families with support and information. Just under 58 hours and $320,000 raised, almost done.

If you're interested in a HDMI converter I just picked up one recommended by pc Gamer I think. Pound HD link. Will save you the crt storage

I met someone at the dog park tonight with a dog named Tifa.

Marry that guy. He's a keeper.

Spoiler:

...of the secret crystals which the entire world economy depends on. But wait! He's got a nefarious plan to use the crystals to enslave the underclass and turn the spirits of the dead into, I dunno, ghost cars or something? I haven't played a Final Fantasy game for a while but they all get real weird at the end

Spoiler:

It's quite clear you haven't played Final Fantasy for a while. Because that was nowhere near weird enough!

They are turning Farming Simulator into an esport and the trailer is cooler than you would expect.

FTFY

Regarding the actual "annoucement"...

A guy slags Patton Oswalt on Twitter, and he snarks him back. Then he checks the guy's profile and sees that he's a Vietnam Vet with a Go Fund Me for medical expenses so he decides to donate and asks his follows to donate too.

A "like" was not enough. This is awesome.

Two of our dogs are out of the house for reasons (no worries they are fine), and our oldest dog is here with me enjoying a small vacation. So far since 7 am he has been awake for about one half hour walk at 3, and he briefly woke up at dinner time and is satisfied just with seeing his food in the bowl. This is somewhat out of character for him because with the other dogs here he's a bit wary about where/when he sleeps and he always eats his food in one sitting. It's been an hour and a half and he's just lounging, moving inbetween his 3 favorite sleeping spots. This is gonna be a nice weekend. He's about 10 years old and this is probably the first time he's had a house to himself without another dog for most of his entire life, with a couple exceptions. He's definitely getting the most out of it.

so 10 years ago, I bought an Epxon printer. It is in the process of dying, so I called Epson technical support to see if there is any way it could be resurrected. Their isn't, and to thank me for being a customer, they gave me 15% off my next purchase. I looked that their Customer Satisfaction store page (for returning customers), and they had a $200 (CDN) printer at 50% off, and I got an extra 15% off of that.

The printer reviews quite well, so yay is me!!

I love the Two Johns.

There's not really a thread for it, or enough discussion to warrant a thread, but I am really enjoying Ashen. It really nicely splits the combat differences between Bloodborne and Dark Souls, while the more open environments and enemy types give it a feel that's distinct from either. It's got a great look and feel, and it's also a hell of a lot shorter than a Dark Souls game. Really great game all around.

I’ve been curious about Ashen - your approval of it definitely has me sliding it forward in my “to get” que.

I had my first meeting with my honours supervisor, and it went really well. It looks like I'll be proposing ways of minimizing MRI distortion in the cranium around pockets of increased air (e.g., around sinuses) or retinotopic mapping around the foveal confluence. I haven't studied MRI much at all, so I'm very much being thrown into the deep end. I'm already feeling incredibly overwhelmed, but at least it's an interesting topic!

On the bright side, I got a key to the lab! I'll be spending most of the year in here. My corner is nowhere near as lavish, but it's going to be nice to have a private little space to study. I often find the campus library distracting as people are always coming and going. Plus, I get paranoid that I'm being too loud if I have my headphones on!

Hopefully, by the end of the year, I'll be a damn expert at lookin' at brains 'n' stuff.
