Roland, you aren't ready for Asuka.

Oh no, don't say that, because after she did that thing with a chair to my buddy that looked like it hurt a lot, I will become ready. I will become PAIN!
I will bring that pain to a live PPV event that you can pre-order now!
(Thus I have shown the extent of my knowledge of WWE-type wrestling)

So when I got vr stuff I lost the use of one of my HDMI ports so I could use the VR headset. This was the port I used to connect my pc to the tv. I only used it to watch movies and youtube videos or any type of video really.

So I just got a roku box and setup a plex server. So now I can watch all my stuff on my tv again. And there is a odd bonus. I can not see youtube comments or make comments on youtube videos through roku. Since I can't see comments I'm not tempted to look at them.

If I really want to comment I can still do so on the pc or tablet. I can even go straight to the video currently playing on roku on my tablet. It is just enough of a hassle that it prevents me from looking at comments or making comments willy nilly.

The downside is I plan to get a new tv and all of them have roku or something like roku built in so I wasted money on this roku box. Well I guess I could always use it another room.

On my phone I just watched the Amazon delivery guy on his path to deliver 5 packages before mine, get right across the street from me and then drive 2.5 miles away, and now apparently is enjoying lunch at a nearby Wendys (or the bar that is right next to it).

The driver knew you were watching them. It's like Twitch streaming. They can see their audience numbers. Soon they will have chat features and donations too.

Woke up this morning to find a split in my headset. My cat had chewed through the wires while I was sleep. I wasn't ready to spend another $120 on a new set ( I really love these, despite them being "GAMER" brand), so I figured I'd try my luck with a repair job. Soldering irons were only $10 down the road...So what did I have to lose other than some pocket change?

That's pretty good wiring for headphones. Usually it's such thin stranded wire that there's no stripping and fixing. I have guys who are REALLY good at such things who typically look at them and say "throw it away".

I have a sudden vision of a future where streaming on the job is not only expected but a required part of employment.

Oh dear God, that is what's going to happen, isn't it?

I want to punch someone in the face just for reading that.

My god I spent over a hour looking at cat and puppy pics and videos on reddit. There was one where a dog petted a cat and the cat turned around and hugged the dog. It was r/aww but don't go there you might never leave.

Oh my gosh! I saw that, that was adooooraaaaaaable!!!!

So I was perusing Alexa Rankings, a website ranking uh website, and of course I looked for gamerswithjobs.com.

Behold the results:

Wait, what? Where are you, other Belgians?! Or am I single-handedly pushing GWJ to the Belgian top-3400? If so, where's my custom icon?

VPNs. It's the only explanation I can come up with.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is Belgium a popular VPN exit? If so, I might be using my VPN wrong...

You know how a lot of people say they would use one of their three genie wishes to live forever, but on reflection a lot of us wouldn't want to outlive our family/friends for eternity?

My wish would be to not have to to sleep! You'd get so much extra time in this lifetime. (Note, I said don't have to. You could still take those wonderful naps if you wanted to.)

I think I would want to live forever but have an out if I feel like I am done. Something like I have to do something to trigger it and then do another thing 5 years later to trigger it again. The years gap gives time to decide if you truly mean it or not.

I interpret "live forever" to simply mean that your body completely stops aging when the wish is granted, not that you're invincible like Wolverine or something. So you'd still have an out when the time comes that you decide you want to end it.

There was a BBC 'Horizon' programme I saw a long time ago about Chimpanzees using sign boards to communicate and doing experiments to see if they could learn sentences in English (not just understanding individual words but phrases like 'put three orange balls in the square container' that kind of thing.) It featured Kanzi and some others.

There was one scene that stuck with me. There were two chimps, one behind the other, on the edge of their enclosure. The first chimp was holding a comb and a keeper, off camera, was saying, "Can I have the comb? Can you give me the comb?" The chimp with the comb, oblivious to the words or their meaning, continued to play with it. As I watched though I started noticing that the chimp behind was looking slightly aggitated and was gesturing to the comb. It slowly dawned on me that the second chimp completely understood the request and didn't understand why the first chimp wasn't giving the comb to the keeper.

The things you think of when you are cleaning your comb in the morning.

Did they let the second chimp live? Do these people not watch movies?

There can never be enough jokes about how awful it would be to work anywhere in the Resident Evil universe.

"Hey, I need to use the bathroom, which way is it again?"

"Oh, you're going to want to go down the hallway, take the second left into the secret room, answer the riddle, move the podiums around to represent each of the directions on the compass, then when you get the clover key, you can unlock the bathroom door."

Like, I just watched 30 minutes of the Resident Evil 2 remake, and I swear to God, the police station itself seems more horrifying than the actual zombies.

Ace Combat 7 is listed under "simulation" on Steam, which is possibly the funniest thing I've heard all week.

Oh sh*t! Suddenly I give a rat's ass about the Oscars.
Isle of Dogs and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse are both nominated for Animated Movie of the Year.

Haha, yeah. Steam tags are inaccurate often.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse beats out the rest of that category handily, or it would if anyone listened to animators when they voted on it. That's the one that people are going to be referencing ten, twenty years from now.

(Caveat: I haven't seen Mirai yet.)

It was very good. I didn’t like it as much as Hosoda‘s other original stories, but I think t was one of the better animated films in recent years.

It was a pretty weak year for western animated film, which, unfortunately, might be the only reason Mirai was nominated. As it is, there were several other anime that I think were better than the other nominees.

Other than Spider-man, of course. Which should take the category this year.

Yeah, basically the only thing I care about is Into the Spider-Verse getting a W.

Be fair. It's a very accurate simulation of an anime about being a fighter pilot.

And two dimensional dogs.

It surprises me that PC games don't often (ever?) let you switch between Dual Shock and Xbox controller prompts . Recent data provided by Steam indicates a lot of people use Dual Shocks, and it's always frustrating having to remember which button does what, especially if playing something with QTEs.

Just a little frustrating.

AC Odyssey has that option when playing via Steam with a DS4. Other Ubi games recognize the DS4 natively. That is also supposed to work with Odyssey but I was only ever able to get it to work using Steam's controller options.
