NFL 2018: Wild Card Weekend

People confuse "excellent" and The Best.

He's an excellent QB. He is not the best. And yes, he's overrated (check out all those multi-INT playoff games).

The greatness of Brady is in the Brady contract. The fact that he was an elite quarterback that didn't screw over his team by cratering their salary cap situation made him football historical.

So Brady's greatness is subsidized by Gisele.

Also at least two super bowls he shouldn't have been playing in due to terrible officiating winning playoff games for him. So the 5 SB stat doesn't hold up well.

When you toss spygate on top of it, you wonder how much cheating was going on in those early years, and start to question how many of their wins were legitimate.

It's so crazy that this only happens to teams that I dislike!

Agreed.

If you chalk up 01, 03-04 to the D and '13 to Pete Carroll, his final SB win was a 25-pt comeback...which could also belong to ATL's play-calling.

The Best? I am not impressed.

The tuck rule is so bad that it was never called for any other team, and now is officially not even a rule anymore.

Brett Kollmann said he wouldn't want to face this Colts team if they made it into the playoffs. I think I see what he means.

Of course the teams that played two close 3-point games this year are in a 21-point blowout at half...

And if you spent more time reading GWJ (as you should) you would know that very sentiment has been said here and some of us balked. They certainly seem like they're on the Wildcard Gets to the Super Bowl track.

It's a shame Coutee had been injured all season. Even now it's not like his hamstring is perfect.

Is Joe Buck sporting a half'stache?

From a QB perspective, absolutely. Houston has the worst OL on the planet so the Colts defense looked beyond amazing today. The Colts D is decent, but it's not the Chargers or Ravens who has SO many playmakers.

Nice missed facemask.

Garrett with an EXCELLENT call to miss the 58yd field goal and set up Russell Wilson right before the half.

If there's one thing you can count on it's Garrett being a wuss.

Ouch. Old man hamstring.

Man they knew who they were gonna attack in the red zone.

"We're just gonna keep throwing this fade because we know you can't cover."

Shaquill Griffin, for the record, was graded 111th out of 120 qualifying cornerbacks in PFF's grading this year.

I wonder if that's the last we'll see of SeBass.

Or maybe THAT was the last we'll see of him.

Nice extro music there.

What the Dak?

That's probably the most fun I've had watching Dallas win a football game.

Of course, Dallas being Dallas, the big playoff win smells more like a near-choke than a victory.

I've long thought that NFL teams need to have someone on the roster capable of making basic placekicks in a kicker's absence.

Sigh. Missed tackle at the 10 there on Dak. Ah well. It'll be nice to consume the rest of the season stress free.

Love watching this team compete and play so hard.

Looking forward to next year already!

Go Hawks.

It didn't cost Seattle anything, though, did it? They made the one 4th down where Carroll would normally have kicked the field goal and they were 2-2 on 2pt conversions. On the other hand, they could have used someone to do an onside kick, but the rule change seems to have pretty much killed those.

Anyway, I watched almost all of the Seahawks games this year and I always felt like they were a mediocre team that was getting lucky, so losing in the playoffs is the least surprising thing ever.

(edited the link in) So was the officiating terrible or the rule?

Anyways, I can't believe how terrible the Texans O was. I'm not confident the Colts can do damage in KC so I'm guessing the AFC has to go through Arrowhead.

If they had recovered the onside kick, down by 2 points, it might have cost them a lot.

So, a playoff win, that means a 5 year contract extension for Jason Garrett, right?

I mean, that's exactly what happened last time.

What a lameass thread. His last post is "Brad's had good games, but I ignored all of those". Uh, yeah, let's ignore all the evidence and point out someone's flaws!

A better use of time would be finding all the magical moments Mahomes had this year. Way cooler!

Well, not exactly what you asked for...

Go Lamar!
