Looking at picking up a rescue mutt after the holidaze.

I'm trying to find one for the holidays.

petfinder.com is a good place to look. They aggregate pets from lots of different shelters and rescues. We found both of our current pets through the site.

The issue I am having with petfinder is that every animal I have called about is no longer available. I was told from one rescue that the dog I was calling about was given a home over a year ago.

We got our dogs through Petfinder. I always used it as a search engine and clicked through to the rescue or shelter that listed the dog rather than contact direct through petfinder. I know a few of the rescues I looked at had wording in their listings asking that you do that and even saying that they do not respond to (direct) petfinder inquiries. If the rescue/shelter still has the listing up themselves that's on them not on petfinder.

I think we got our most recent dog through Petfinder. The shelter was listed as the next town over, and the dog was a puppy. Turned out the shelter was actually in Kentucky, but they arranged a relay thing to drive dogs where they needed to go, so we couldn't actually see the dog ahead of time. They sent a local volunteer to do a home inspection. When the dog came up, we discovered that the puppy photo was apparently old. We were expecting a puppy that'd grow into a large dog. What we got was an eight month old dog that weighted 55 pounds already. That was a surprise. Worked out okay, but definitely wasn't ideal.

I looked at that house and said "that looks swedish" before I checked your location. Looks like my brothers previous house. Very nice!!

Jajamen! Thanks!

A lot of these Swedes ended up in Minnesota / Wisconsin / Michigan.

There's a immigrant-museum nearby here, a lot of Americans follow their roots back to Sweden and visit the places of their ancestors. Sometimes I toy with the idea to offer them all-in-ancestor trips.

That's awesome.

My silliness. It is taunting me on a shelf above my computer. I can't afford the motherboard or CPU yet.

Finally a true post for this thread again
Still, awesome choice!!!

I picked up 32 GB ram on sale for $199 CAD! Crazy. Still no motherboard though. Looking at this one
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07C57Q1XH/...

If I am able to sell my lenses and other stuff I'll be able to get the RTX 2080 (maybe ti)

That motherboard looks pretty sweet!
And RTX2080...that would be great

Working from home in my basement dungeon requires accommodation.

Fun fact, I work for L.L.Bean and someone on my team did that image. They really should have masked out the shearling on the top better...

Then I should probably tell you that the placement of the product tag directly in the arch of BOTH slippers was not a wise one. I will probably cut them out, but even doing so is trickier than it looks because of the placement in a seam on the inside of the shoe with shearling. I would just rip them out, but am concerned it may damage the seam.

No promises, but I'll let the product designers know.

Don't forget you have a perfectly good arm and leg you're not using!

And do you really need both of those kidneys?

I have a problemIMAGE(https://elephant-coral.com/elephantcoral/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Monte_Grappa-Coral-Fountain-Pen-nib-and-cap-R.jpg)

But look at the color. I bet it writes extremely smoothly and the ink just flows onto the paper. The nib is a precise tool to be used everyday. - Devil on your shoulder

Yup. All true. And considering I have rekindled my routine of journal writing and handwritten correspondence, it is something that would get regular use if I didn't already have four other REALLY nice fountain pens (and a couple other budget fountain pens which write surprisingly well).

I have started divesting myself of pens I no longer use much. I only keep ones that I actually use.

Paleocon wrote:

That doesn't look like a problem; that looks like a pen.

Correct! I only use 1 leg or arm at a time, right?

And who actually uses 2 kidneys anyways?

Got the motherboard now. Just waiting for the ridiculously good deal i got on the ram to be back in stock before the cancel the order. 32 GB ram for only $200 Canadian. That's like 12.75 US!

Starting to look good! Almost there

Technically this was December, but my car had 123k miles on it and for the third time since I have owned it, the valve cover gasket failed and their was a recall on it even. Tired of dealing with that, wanted to get 5 years out of it, but oh well. I bought a 2018 Ford Edge SLE.

Silly because even though I got $10k off MSRP and $1500 for my trade, I could have gone with a cheaper used one. First brand new car no previous owners I have ever owned. I love it!

Wow! Congrats on your new...

silver SUV?

Yah, sorry, updated my original post, its a 2018 Ford Edge SLE with the Ecoboost engine. It had 67 miles on it when I test drove it, and was the last customer to drive it at that point

Got this for the wife as a Christmas gift. I was skeptical but she loves it. Named it Cersei.

Solid card! The "any graveyard" bit is great in Commander games when someone's giant creature gets axed and you can grab it up for 2 and a black. See also "Animate Dead"

Yeah it's for my Kaalia Commander deck. I added a reanimation package for redundancy in case Kaalia dies. I have reanimate, animate dead, necromancy, unburial rites, and karmic guide to get creatures back. And yeah, the flexibility of "any graveyard" is awesome in Commander

And in the spirit of the thread, I spent an irresponsible amount of money on magic cards with all the great reprints in the Ultimate Masters set...

I mean, that's not as bad as me, when I bought a Fanatec wheel last Black Friday and then added a load cell brake to the pedals, and then pretty much immediately stopped playing racing games.

The Dorks will accept you back whenever you are ready.

Finally found one I liked
