Warframe

I'd have to look up been a while since I did "missions". I do know the trophies are outside.

Wiki says alert missions are exempt from daily limit.

But my problem is I got ranked up once, capped at 22k standing, and need forma to rank up again. With all the things I need forma for that's hard to justify right now.

So working on 2 other allied factions for now.

I haven’t forma’d anything yet - I’ve only used it for crafting, or standing ranks

New players should note that "caster" frames don't get damage-y until you have a lot of endo invested in mods, some rare/Primed mods, and a couple-few forma plus a reactor. There are only a handful of frames that have highly useful abilities even with basically no mod support (e.g., Frost, Rhino).

Weapons are your means of conquering content for a very long time. If you're looking to make progress, find something you like in primary or secondary and forma the sh*t out of it. Your other slots just fill with unused trash.

For frames, have one or two primary frames with good survivability and the rest will just be MR fodder until you can really kit one out. If you're looking to do endless scaling defensive play (Defense, Mobile Defense, Survival, Excavation) as soon as possible, Nidus is a good post-newbie-phase choice because his perfect kit is relatively cheap to put together and doesn't rely on any Primed mods to hit full throttle.

And when you learn what Zenurik is, choose Zenurik initially. Don't look it up if you don't know what it is.

Yep, don't worry about it. Forma for your favorite weapon and frame should be all you care about for a while.

When I’m just looking to crank out some ranks on new gear, I run the defence on Jupiter... Sinai(?) - The one on top of the little ‘building’ in the centre, and the three stairs (Corpus tileset) - good sight-lines. If it’s just credits, you’re after, quit and repeat the first round - I usually find it to be just shy of 20k. I typically run for 3 (ie: 15 waves), just for the drops, and makes ~27k credits - so it depends on what I’m after.

Current weapon-faves are Hek (potatoed), and Karak (don’t remember if I’ve tatered it).

So sounds like I should dive in with Rhino first on Friday.

Are there any good useful early secondary weapons? Or should I just be using them for fodder? I got rid of my starting Kunai and maxed out a Furis also early on. Tried buying a cheap Sicarus and didn't enjoy it much but maxed it. Think I grabbed a Lex last night to try.

Might as well go through the weapons you can buy for credits before crafting too many more right?

To avoid giving you the true but relatively useless advice of "whatever you like the feel of is what's good and useful," I'll leave you with a couple links.

Weapon tier list with some testing behind it. Remember to make sure you genuinely like the feel of a weapon before going deep into specializing it just because it ranks highly. I recommend picking something fully automatic, to save on wear and tear on the index finger during the many hours of grinding.

Gun modding guide which also has melee modding linked at the top. I advise against doing melee as your first Endo sink, but I'm not your mommy.

One of my favourite sidearms is Despair - the Stalker’s knives. For “guns”, I’m rather fond of the twin Gremlins (I think I got those on a Clem mission). I have the Lex Prime (got most of the parts pretty early in my fissure runs), and it’s alright.

Made it to Jupiter last night, but not without some stupidity. The relay requires a 10 minute survival on a Ceres node. So of course I'm in there with one idiot who decides to leave at 5 minutes. I send a squad chat but it's ignored. And since there was only 2 of us, the countdown makes me leave. Evacuated at 7.5 minutes, what a waste.

Repeated to completion with a much better teammate.

Thanks for the links, Crinkle.

Trying to guess at “which mod should I be using, and at what level” has always bugged me. The “should I be using a 12 Serration, or two ‘6’ elementals?” - it’s nice to have a bit more guidance.

Yeah that really is helpful. Had no idea that the slots were applied in a certain order, that I should be putting things in a certain way.

I got a Volcanic Edge (+heat/status) mod for melee early, so been using it on everything. Still feels like that's probably more effective than trying to build for corrosive at my point. Will get better mods eventually I'm sure.

So, few things.

1. You were there for progression, he was probably there for another reason.
2. Maybe he wanted to go to 20 mins, and thought you weren't a strong enough teammate to get him as far as he wanted to go.
3. Maybe he got the drop he wanted at 5 mins.
4. Maybe he just had to leave.

Get used to people having a different objective than yours when you're partying randomly.

This is also a big reason with random groups most people use Defense > Survival. However, if I am doing it with friends I prefer survival. Defense each person can leave when they want. Your situation is pretty rare where you will be going for a survival for 10 minutes (other than alerts where everyone will be going for same thing). Most people generally want 5 min or 20.

On PC usually just a quick chat of, "20?" or "8?" is enough to coordinate with randos. Most people are agreeable to whatever's suggested. Rarely I land in a group that wants to farm a place for four hours, and are shocked to learn that their rando didn't sign up for a pretty bonkers investment.

Yeah I just randomly stumbled on the drop information the other day. A A B C table thing. So now I get why people want to go certain time/wave/extractors.

Doesn't seem to be much chat on the Switch. Most teams have just gelled well and kept going, or not done well so bailed at first opportunity.

For defences, I’ll usually go for three drops, unless we’re devastating the enemies, or when half the team drops. Mostly the same for survivals. If they drop out early... I’ll drop too, and just start up another one.

Rhino! Seems fun so far, even very early.

And of course I'm out of slots so I can't accept the Oberon I have built already. Time to figure out if the few prime parts I have dropped are worth anything or junk and dive into trading I guess?

I was enjoying the game enough to spend my 2nd -50% coupon on 1k plat for $26. Most of any that I’ve spent so far has been for weapon and frame slots - I was a little impatient and bought 3x forma for 35p, once.

I’ve heard Rhino is perfectly capable of getting you through to the end-game content - his 2 for survivability, and his 4 is a pretty darn good CC ability.

I spend so much time with “fresh” gear that my “advancement” has really stalled out - without the power of fully leveled, and modded gear, I’m having difficulty clearing the harder content. I’m spending most of my time with only one weapon equipped running Sinai repeatedly. At least it’s helping my bank account.

I wish I had understood the coupons. I got 1 or 2 75% ones the first week but had no idea that you could use them on plat. I got a 50% off one the other day and thought I would use it on slots but it doesn't work on those of course. So I used it on some forma. And then I got a 25% one this week and just used it to buy a recipe for credits and save a bit.

Next time I get a big one I might try plat. Game is fun enough to throw them a few bucks.

Indeed. General consensus seems to be you can clear the map with Rhino. Guess I'll get back to Jupiter this weekend and see what he can do.

His 2 lets you skip taking any shield mods and just stack armor, at which point you can hit 2 once and be invincible to anything other than 100+ opponents (it has unlimited duration). On 100+ things you'll need to refresh your 2 every few minutes if you're not hopping about, but you're still invincible as long as you watch for the red tinge on the screen that indicates you just took health damage.

His 3 is a great team damage buff, and has good duration with just a single mod.

4 isn't slouchy but it's pretty much an extra energy burner if you're topped off and bored.

I’ve never seen a 75% off coupon, but I’ve just had my third 50% - I’ve only used one of them. If I ever get a 75... I’d probably buy more plat :)... hell it 75% off!!

Do note I've only just recently got my first 75% in 350 days. Not something you can plan for.

So... this game has crashed about 6-7 times on Switch.

Anybody else have that problem?

Last one was right as I was jumping to the extraction platform on a mission. Had to redo the whole thing. It's getting frustrating. Only once in all those crashes was I able to restart and rejoin the mission I was on. Game is not respecting my time.

That sucks Stele.

I’ve ‘heard’ people say that the longer your break from playing, the more likely your reward will be a bigger plat discount coupon. It’s very much hearsay.

That is really sh*tty, stele. It's rock solid on PC for me, except when my Internet causes issues, but that's not the game's fault. Hope it improves, maybe a bit of patching for the platform.

If I take a few weeks off it's even odds for me to get a 75% discount.

Does Switch actually have platinum discounts? The other consoles don't.

That's a good question. I did some googling after this talk the other night and saw the complaints about PS4/XB1. So honestly I don't know. It looks like it might not because when you click to buy plat it takes you out of the game to the eshop.

If not I'm going to probably give in and get some warframe slots. Oberon is finished crafting and Mag will be in a couple days. Rhino is awesome but I want to keep trying out more frames.

EDIT: Consensus on forums seems to be no. But I did see where they occasionally have console sales on plat. Like back in the summer. So maybe Switch will get in on those. But I doubt I can sit around waiting with frames crafted. I'll just get annoyed.

Also, made it to Saturn tonight.

Yeah, 300 platinum isn't stupid expensive at full price and gives you enough for a good number of slots. Not enough to just drop potatoes into stuff willy nilly though, so some discipline will be necessary.

I’m mostly stalled out at Neptune... this seems like the point that you can’t just drop in to missions with a bunch of under-levelled, unoptomized gear. I’m much too into leveling my stuff to push forward, right now. Sinai is still my go-to for this.

I’ve tried Maroo’s Ayatan statues challenge, twice, and failed hard... I have no idea where I’m supposed to go. I’m not sure watching guides will help enough... My ability to remember video game environments is terrible, too much looks the same, and I get lost.

Same but like 4 times. A couple have been parkour tests at the end that I've failed. One was a big room of enemies. I backed up a bit and took cover, then the door they all came out of closed. I killed the rest of them through the door with a sniper rifle even. But nothing happened. I couldn't get back in the door or find another route. After 10 minutes I abandoned it.

I did find one statue on a random mission, slotted it and got ~1800 endo selling to Maroo. But that's it so far.
