NFL 2018: Week 16

Ravens!

That Lamar guy is a winner.

The Chargers loss makes it a little easier for the Chiefs to clinch HFA, but just winning on Sunday will not do it. On the plus side, beating the Raiders next week, regardless anything else, even a Chiefs loss to Seattle, will clinch HFA throughout the playoffs.

The Chargers’ loss changes the playoff calculus for the Kansas City Chiefs.

As we’ve previously noted, a win against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday clinches the AFC West and a first-round bye — and the odds that it would be as the number one seed are better than nine in 10.

If the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon, a Chiefs win on Sunday night will clinch the AFC West and the number one seed for home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

But regardless of what happens on Sunday, a Chiefs victory against the Oakland Raiders at home a week from Sunday will also clinch the one seed.

So if you want the Chiefs to have a meaningless game against the Raiders, root for the Eagles to win on Sunday, and hope the Chiefs defeat the Seahawks on Sunday night. But even if neither of those things happen, the Chiefs will still control their own destiny to obtain the number one seed.

Thanks, Ravens!

Thank us twice. We were robbed in that game against you folks.

Titans win eliminated the Browns and the 0.1% chance of reaching the playoffs.

Also, since Baker Mayfield called out Briwns fans for all the empty seats, prices on tickets have skyrocketed. Nosebleed went from basically free to $80.

Yeah, and the Chiefs got robbed last week. It does suck having to play all 60 minutes, doesn’t it?

The Chiefs have three losses by a total of seven points to three playoff teams. Not gonna feel bad that they win some close ones.

Go Eagles!

If the Chiefs get Watkins back for the playoffs, I expect them to roll to the Super Bowl. He’s out again today, and lots of Watkins detractors are saying, “I told you so.” But when facing Watkins and Hill, it forces defenses into coverages and schemes that Mahomes can more easily exploit. Without Watkins, the Chiefs are only a 4 TD a game team.

I normally try to be impartial regarding ref calls. But the refs this game are awful. I acknowledge the bad call against Texans for roughing the passer.

But holy crap, they are looking right at some penalties and letting Texans get away with it, meanwhile a legit sack is called roughing. These guys are awful. They are inconsistent. They are the real opponent in this game.

A friend at the game says the Stadium is going nuts. We often joke about refs not getting out alive. This time I wouldn't even joke. It's a tense time of the season as this is our chance to remain in the wildcard running. If the refs cost us that...

Also sorry for saying"us" as if I am actually accomplishing anything. I kinda hate that aspect of talking sports teams but it seems to just happen.

Eagles!

Cody Kessler bruised his knee, and in came BLAKE BORTLES to rally the Jags to a win over Miami! Giving the team less draft value with which to replace him.

Why overtime? Just lose for draft

That might be the worst PI call I’ve ever seen in my life in the Saints/Steelers game. Handed the Saints 1st and Goal from the one on an uncatchable ball and no real contact, anyway.

But f*ck Pittsburgh. Great call!

Legion... I need to hear more about 4th and 46.

That sure was a miracle win. If Eagles get in the playoffs I'll be happy, but it's not looking likely. I'm just gonna hope that next year Doug and Jim Schwartz (assuming he's still there) have a long, long talk about Defense.

The 2018 Jaguars season is one giant 4th and 46.

The Saints coach looks like Glenn Beck and the Steelers look like they're wearing pages of a calendar.

Niners had every chance to win that game. Really hurt losing Dante Pettis, who has been in the middle of breaking out as the only Niner WR really worth a damn.

Yup, which may have cost me a win in Dynasty. We'll see!

That’s the kind of call that makes you wonder if the NFL fixes these games.

You should trade him to me.

Baker doesn't like Hue.

The Eagles are starting to look really good. I hope it's just a bit too late. (Sorry Eagles fans)

I'll just leave my favorite Christmas special starring Patrick Mahommes here in case people need to get in the holiday spirit:

Well, damn.

Sorry Jayhawker. Your QB is going to be a beast in the playoffs and I wouldn't be surprised if you guys win it all this year.

Go Hawks.

The Reddit comments were too good:

It was a good game. So many Chiefs fans act like this should be a walk in the park. One thing that is significant;ty different this year is that when the chiefs lose, they are on the game at the 2 minute warning of the 4th quarter. They have lost their four games, all to playoff teams, three of which were on the road, by 14 points.

In every game, there is a play or two or three that would have changed the outcome. Even tonight, Wilson converted some insane 3rd downs, and there were some crucially terrible calls. Any of those go the other way, the Chiefs win.

But in the end, Seattle just made more plays.

Very disappointed KC let Seattle into the playoffs.

I was hoping for that to be on the line in the week 17 game between Seattle and Arizona, giving the possibility of cheering for Arizona to both keep Seattle out of the playoffs and push themselves behind San Francisco in draft order.

Granted, Seattle would most likely have taken down Arizona and prevented both of those outcomes, but it was at least setting up to give me a game to care about in week 17.

As I told my Steeler fan friend, that call was truly awful. Now they know how anyone not named Brady feels when they play Pittsburgh.
