1987 and 2007 called - they both want that video back.

Nice title though.

Thank you. It involved 30 seconds of thought to make it believable. And cribbing off one of the games on my GotY list this year.

I'm sure this bodes well for my favorite franchise.

He left quite some time ago.
But at least he will now be able to make all the open world fetch quests he ever wanted to.

I wonder about that kickstarter RPG I just backed, that promoted itself heavily on Laidlaws involvement.

Is there any successful SRPG on mobile that isn't rife with mobile monetization aspects? I seriously doubt it.

Dunno if this qualifies as "successful" at sales in the 50-thousands , but Warbits?

It's a shameless clone of Advance Wars, but it's a good clone of Advance Wars.

Not to be overly gloomy, but the BioWare that people revered for years is pretty much completely gone anyway at this point, another great studio devoured by EA. The chances of the next DA game being anywhere near a top tier RPG are almost nonexistent at this point in my opinion. We can probably count on a super safe, designed-by-focus-group game with nice graphics and an ALMOST but not quite offensive amount of micro transactions at best.

Or with an all new team a fresh take on the series that moves it into a new style of CRPG that melds Dragon Age 1 with the Witcher 3.

DA:I was made under basically the same conditions and it was the first DA game I was able to get into. Despite it having many issues I even liked ME:A. As long as they learned something from that I think they still have it in them to make really great games. It does seem like their A Team is working on Anthem, but I think ME:A got the D Team. Not sure if SWTOR is the B or C Team, but here's hoping.

Thank you for articulating everything I ever wanted.

Let's just hope they don't f*ck that up and instead meld The Witcher 1 with Dragon Age 3.

Adding trading cards for sexual encounters? Not sure that's what the series needs.

[that's_the_joke.jpg]

Not the possibility of different stances for fighting monsters or humans? Please keep in mind the only other thing I know about Witcher 1 is that it looks pretty ugly now.

I thought that was DA2.

Well, at least it appears they're not dropping the storyline left hanging after Inquisition/Trespasser. Looking forward to whatever ends up coming out in 3 or 4 years.

Does this mean we finally get payback against Solas for being an utter bastard during the Inquisition?

Out of the context of this series, that is such a weird sentence.

A conversation I had with a female student after her final today.

Student: Cool Iron Bull bust in your office.

Me: Thanks. You a DA fan.

S: Yeah, I love [DA].

Me: So what to you think of the new trailer?

S: [pauses]. So you know that game, Marry, f*ck, Kill?

Me: Yeah.

S: I want to do all of those to Solas, maybe not in that order.

I feel a need to play Inquisition again as an elf woman so I can get the full perspective on Solas--since first I was a Qunari mage, he was just a mysterious, mildly condescending weirdo who legitimately knew things my Inquisitor needed. I want a taste of that sweet, sweet conflicted antipathy I've heard so much about.

Yeah, I've been contemplating the elf woman playthrough for exactly that reason (after a go at Iron Bull).

Yea I played an elf woman (didn't romance him though) in one of play through and he was kind of a douche (more so than when I was human). One of the things he did is that in his time the face tattoos were slave marks and he tried to get you to let him remove them even though now they are a big part of free elven culture. I hear he is extra bad if you romance him.

“Extra bad” doesn’t even begin to cover it. I YouTubed his romance and he’s downright abusive. Made me sick.
I’m a Cullenite forever.

Is Kaidan aware of this?

A guy in every port.

Completely hidden from Eleimas wrath:

Spoiler:

He is not able to complain anymore.

Hm, I never played the DA:I expansions...I guess I should probably buy those at some point, huh? At least this game is probably still several years away, so I have time.

Trespasser is the "must have" out of the DA:I expansions. Jaws of Hakkon is a new area/story to explore, and feels like how I wish the rest of the game had been in terms of quests, narrative structure, and interesting areas. The Descent is a dungeon crawl, and a bit of a grind, but has some interesting lore implications by the end.

Trespasser, though, is the one that sets the stage for the next game. You definitely don't want to miss it.

Cullen is to the Inquisitor as Kaidan is to Shepard.
So to each her own.

Spoiler:

Cullen is basically Kaidan reincarnated with lyrium addiction in stead of L2 migraines. ;)

Question for the Dragon Age crowd: I've been thinking of going back and playing through actually finishing Origins. I played most of Origins with the human noble origin, and I think that MC as a Cousland has become canonical to me. I really like how the murder of the MC's family, at the hands of Howe and his goons, fundamentally alters the relationship that you, the player, have to Loghain and Howe. I also played the mage's origin, and thought it was ok but it didn't grip me.

But, I haven't tried any of the other origins. Do you all feel like there are any others that fundamentally affect how your character relates to the world, or your understanding of particular characters? Feel free to spoil the origins, I don't care at this point.

Thinking about this because I got a copy of Inquisition earlier this year, and haven't played it yet; I was contemplating going back through DA:O and DA2 before jumping into Inquisition. That may be biting off more than I can chew, and I might just prepare my tapestry and call it a day.
