Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

Yep, I love that house too. Particularly, the 'tower' on the side. Looks like the kind of house that families of children have adventures in. The American equivalent of a Victorian vicarage in the UK.

How old is it?

It looks like there's a fair amount of annual upkeep there to keep it looking that immaculate.

Beautiful house. Was the haunting extra or was that a bonus?

It's the northeast of Mason(which is where I work) by about 15-20 minutes. It was built in 1905 but the previous previous owners put in modern wiring, plumbing, a furnace, and redid the kitchen and bathrooms but they're very dated now. The previous owners restored some of the outside woodwork and had it painted, which looks great but the realtors tried to tell us they spent 35k doing that and I just don't see it considering how poor that housing market is(we got the house for just under 110k). Still plenty of stuff to do for us to make it what we want. Repairing/replacing some of the slate tile on the roof, replacing one of the sump pumps, fixing a leak in the pipe that sends the sump pump water outside, replacing the attic insulation with spray stuff(I think it might be asbestos right now it's crumbly cardboard looking stuff), getting an AC unit and extending the vents up to the upstairs rooms, and fixing the grounding on the outlets(Some show being ground and some aren't). Plus my wife has a loooong list of smaller things that we can do on our own. Changing fixtures, outlet covers, door hardware, etc.

Funny enough I refer to it as ghost house and one of the first cats I moved into the house is my grandmother-in-law's black cat.

Wow, that place would go for a half million easy around here.

You have a tower!
That's awesome.

My silliness. It is taunting me on a shelf above my computer. I can't afford the motherboard or CPU yet.

When I was growing up, I would visit my dad in Iowa for the summer. One of his neighbors ended up buying a house that looked almost identical to that one... but it didn't come with the property he put it on. I was only about 9 or so at the time, so I don't remember how far they had to haul that thing, but imagine our surprise when a 100-something year old house came rolling down the road on two flatbed semi-truck trailers driving side-by-side.

Yeah that would be insane, I couldn't imagine moving this thing, I feel like so much would go wrong.

Here's an interior picture from the listing, that pocket door is still off it's rail and it's so heavy, going to take some effort to get it back on the track.

Edit: Oh, one of the reasons it's so low is the housing market here bottomed out a few years back when the main employer(DHL) in the area shut down and around 2k people lost their jobs. The whole place is still recovering but supposedly amazon is going to take over the airport so people are being hopeful.

Plus it is about 45 minutes from downtown on the border of rural Ohio.

The inside looks great, I love all of the wood accents from the old houses like that. I had one in Cleveland that was pretty similar and I miss the pocket doors, they are so much better than regular doors and I wish they hadn't died out!

I think that cello is haunted, too. It's looking at me.

That would be because it's a bass.

The turn that this thread suddenly took is exactly why I love this Community!

More of this tomfoolery, please!

Yeah, we had our fun. Now we really need to de-bass this thread.

Y'all been making some weird purchases lately.

Indeed. Who actually pays money for Ace of Base? Definitely a silly purchase.
