Recommend me a (non-gaming) podcast

That's not a cybernetic organism, THIS is a cybernetic organism

I'll be back with a Fosters, mate!

Have I recommended Talking Simpsons yet?

http://www.lasertimepodcast.com/cate...

It's a chronological review of every Simpson episode and it's a great way to re-live episodes which, if you're like me, you quote without even realizing you are quoting them.

Side note; Anyone have a Babylon 5 podcast to recommend?

I SAw That Years Ago - George Lucas! Industrial Light and Magic! HOWARD THE DUCK?

No, but tell me if you find one.

Yes! There is a B5 podcast where the first half is spoiler free discussion of just the episode and the preceding episodes and the second half is how it fits in to the show as a whole. I need to find it, though.

edit* Got it. http://b5audioguide.com/

My dude.

Well, in our first take we kept getting our names confused, hence the title. It it seems that cut didn’t make it, so now I look like a plonker.

I Saw THat Years Ago - Christopher De Niro, Robert Walken are looking for....THE DEER HUNTER

HAH! I've never seen the end of that fully.

Also f*ck those guys...the coffee ones are the BEST.

Cross post from the gaming podcast thread.

Here is a screen cap of all the podcast I am up-to-date on. I don't know what I want to listen to. Just something interesting and entertaining. Maybe this will give you an idea of what I like.

Sean Carroll's Mindscape - episode 25 - David Chalmers on Consciousness

I thought this was a particularly good episode. Just a lot of fun and intriguing ideas to let your brain chew over, and a great conversation.

9 outstanding podcasts episodes you should’ve listened to in 2018

I’ve listened to three of them so far. Might give you some ideas for new shows.

I Saw That Years Ago - 1960s British humour meets 1960s British horror in... CARRY ON SCREAMING

I love the Science vs. podcast. I highly recommend this episode, especially if you like true crime stories:

Science vs

Wendy Zuckerman is an astounding science journalist.

I Saw That Years Ago - He designed classic posters and titles for Hitchcock, before hitching himself to ant-based sci-fi. Saul Bass takes us to ... PHASE IV

By about 9 minutes into this week’s episode of MBMBaM I was in tears with laughter. I mean it’s some really asinine juvenile type of humor but I guess that’s what I’m into.

MBMBaM

I Saw That Years Ago - Is that your final answer? Yes, it's...SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Conviction

I'm through four episodes, and it is good, but enraging.

Another podcast I'm listening to has had a few episodes discussing American criminal justice.

I knew most of the points they were discussing already, but I came to the conclusion while listening that, if I'm ever on jury duty, I don't think I could ever vote to convict someone. The system functions on too many broken aspects, and even if the person is clearly guilty, our idea of justice is also quite simply... perverted. Evil.

We built a justice system on the idea of punishment, and build it up around candidates for public office who declare their toughness on crime. I just don't believe that our means of meting out punishments is the way it should be done. It's just one more area of American society that could use a good dose of science and expertise over the anti-intellectual "common sense" and "tough on crime" narratives that drown out voices of reason. To say nothing of the potential of convicting someone who is innocent.

If you ever get called for jury duty, please make sure to tell the parties that you couldn’t vote to convict.

The most recent episode of Reply All, The Founder, is fascinating. I got halfway in on my way to work. Check it out.

I've been enjoying The People vs. Star Trek Voyager. This group knows how to do a deep read of something that perhaps did not deserve such a deep read. They'll highlight its flaws even when you can tell they're in love of what it could have been, and they'll applaud when it very occasionally touches that potential. And as the title implies, it's all framed as a farcical courtroom drama.

I Saw That Years Ago - Roger Moore loves men in rubber, booze and cats in...NORTH SEA HIJACK aka FFOLKES
