Great thanks
(Hence forth I shall endeavour to look at the list.)
I'll third Machinarium. Really enjoyable adventure with some of the game play feel of the old Sierra adventure games.
King's Quest 6 is one of my all-time favorites. It was the first game I remember finishing on my own, and it really made an impact on me. I replayed it a few years ago and still loved it. I can't say how much of that was simple nostalgia, but I do think it's worth a visit for even modern fans of the genre.
I'll throw in Ragnor Tornquist's delightfully weird Dreamfall and Dreamfall Chronicles as great contenders. Not quite as good as the original The Longest Journey, but more modern and fantastic games nonetheless.
Not like I need reasons to replay Dreamfall yet another time. But seconded for both. TLJ and Dreamfall are still my favorite adventure games.
The survey is still up for a little longer, I'll announce the results tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Last month I had a pretty clear favourite (Oxenfree), but this month there are two or three that I'm equally interested in.
I look forward to the results before all the sales end!
I'll 'aye' Zork Nemesis. Colour me intrigued.
Yay, Tacoma! I own it but haven't gotten around to it.
Sweet! I just got Tacoma on sale a couple of days ago, so that's wonderful news!
And here's an AYE for Zork!
I missed all the voting while traveling, but I'll certainly throw in one more AYE for Zork Nemesis.
***drum roll***
And the second game of the GWJ Adventure Game club is.......
TACOMA!
A single respondent voted for only one game (and got his wish ;)
Yay!
Now to finish replay of Oxenfree...
Yay for Tacoma! I would also like to second Myst: Revelation and Dreamfall: The longest journey. I have been wanting to get around to Dreamfall for a long time.
If you need Tacoma it is on sale right now 70% off for $5.99 US during the Steam Autumn sales. The sale ends November 27th 10am Pacific.
I will third Contradiction, since I am intrigued due to playing way too many FMV games in the 90's.
I hereby nominate The Sexy Brutale, one of my favorite games of last year. It's a very stylish game with a Groundhog Day type mechanic. I played it on the PS4, but it looks like I have a copy on my Mac that I haven't played.
Yay for Tacoma! I never got around to it, so I picked it up on the Steam sale.
I'll second The Sexy Brutale, a recent addition to the pile.
Husband and I are going to try to play some of these together, but I'll probably skip Tacoma. That first person pov really doesn't work for me
I'll third The Sexy Brutale! Love that game.
(Doesn't perform well on Switch though, just fyi.)
Turns out my laptop can't handle Tacoma so I'll be sitting this one out. I hope everyone has fun!
Hey. I seconded Dreamfall and Dreamfall Chapters! :p
I'll second King's Quest V. It's the first adventure game I played that elevated the genre to a whole new level for me. It introduced the fantastic point-and-click interface to Sierra adventure games and it was (I think) the first fully voiced adventure game. It's a treasure.
Also, it's the hero image for this thread so it should at least get a nod.
Am I allowed to nominate again yet?
Browsing the Humble Bundle Android games have piled up, stumbled upon what might be a contender... possibly.
Ok, I'll throw up Her Story for consideration. It's been on my pile for quite the long time.
Such a long time I suggested it twice...
I'll gladly second Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and will third King's Quest V and Gone Home. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is one of my favorite walking sims, if not my very favorite. I'd love for more people to play it.
I thought I seconded Everyone's Gone to Rapture, but I guess it slipped my mind, so I'll third it instead.
