Ooh, that surprise is such a tease.
From previous Ubi Forum discussion, I imagine it will follow what they did with AC: Origins. That game apparently added a +damage perk that you could dump additional skill points into. Of course, it's possible they're adding a new "Elite" skill tree or something of that nature.
Also, who has 20 ancient tablets and did not use them on their ship already :)
Anybody who's already maxed their ship abilities.
I think upgraded Ikaros can distract as well.

Forgot about that one. Yeah, eventually you can direct him to attack a selected target.
So what is the point of my horse dying when I ride a couple km? I can literally summon another one once they die. Seems like a pointless tactic that is wasted.
15-20 seconds of annoyance. the thing is, even if you jump off and do a leap of faith, it's still 15-20 seconds of running away from the area before you can summon him again anyway.
Yeah sometimes it just dies other times it goes forever. Just is odd. Oh well.
Finished the main story, and now in this weird spot where im lvl 46, and struggling to find good ways to level to 50 to finish cult and atlantis storylines. What do others do for powerleveling? Bases?
Just clear out the question marks (though presumably the bulk of the xp comes from bases as you suggest). I’ve recently hit 50 and I’m not even done with chapter 7.
Just convinced my buddy to pick this up too. He keeps asking me questions and I realized I barely remember the first island.

FYI, you can probably attempt the level 50 stuff at level 48. Also, you may wish to work on killing mercenaries to make your way up the chain.
I'm not doing much of the sleeping around thing, just because it seems pretty superficial, but I have done a few of those sequences. After those, and after a few quests, I've gotten the "invite to join the crew" option. I keep trying it, but they always refuse. Is there some way to get them to join? I thought it was just a dummy option that'd never work, but today there was an RPS article where the author was talking about getting all her girlfriends on the boat, so now I'm thinking I'm just doing something wrong.
Last night, I decided to hunt down the last few cultists I needed to get my spear up to level 5 and finish upgrading a bunch of abilities I'm using. Now that that's done, I'm thinking spear upgrades and ability points are gonna start feeling useless.

Probably for the best - I'm sure your spouse/significant other would not appreciate it.
Is there a spoiler free way to get a sense of how far you are into the main story or how far you have left to go? I am level 42 now, and I've been so distracted by cultists, bases, and side quests that I only just finally got back to the main story. I'm playing on Project Stream, which will end in mid-January, so I'd like to get through the main story before then.
But getting sidetracked is part of the fun! Just want to know if I'm on pace.
I usually just look up a main quest walkthrough. Most of those have a sidebar or something with a list of quest titles that's not super spoilery, so I find the quest I'm on and see how far down the list it is.
Well, minimum level for the final mission of the main story is 44. So, if you've been knocking them all out as they are available, you should be really close. Alternately, you can tell us where you're at and we can tell you about how far you have left. Just make sure you wrap it in spoiler tags.

I am number 3 right now. The #2 person is lvl 49, so a bit outside of my league still.

If you look at your Ubisoft Club profile in the Games section for ACOd, it will show you your story progression percentage.
You can find your profile at (for example) https://club.ubisoft.com/en-US/profi...
(obviously replace Carch with your profile name, and you will have to sign in before you can see anything)
Ooh, good call! I think you can login and view your profile directly from the start menu of the game as well, but I'm not home to verify.
Awesome! Profile tells me I'm at 44%, which is further than I expected. Gulp...I've also murdered 1142 people.

2807. I am a bad bad person.
I mean, it's not like it's called Nonviolent Conflict Resolution's Creed.
5748. Maybe ships count for more? I sunk a lot of ships...
Just went full fire. Damage is huge. Agamemnon's armor set, fire mace and fire buffing sword.
There's a fire bow you can get from a mercenary, too. + fire damage and turns normal arrows into fire arrows
I added the all arrows are fire buff to the Artemis bow.
There is a dagger that can also convert all damage to poison. Might try switching to that for a bit.
