NFL 2018: Week 11

I'm just gonna keep posting things about that Quenton Nelson scream video.

In other news the Browns looked like a legit NFL team in this past week's win against the Falcons. Like, they had gameplans on offense and defense and they executed on them. Hell hath indeed frozen over.

As you all know, the Saints killed the AJ Green-less Bengals. For some damn reason the Bengals' secondary went from a strength to a weakness this year. It can't just be the rule changes, right? They've now hired Hue Jackson, so clearly things are going to get way better for them.

Oh, the Saints, right. Drew Brees is completing over 77% of his passes. That's 5% over his record breaking 72% completion percentage from last year. That's insane, but not as insane as Michael Thomas's 90% catch rate on 87 targets. That 90% catch rate would be notable for a RB catching Flacco-type passes and not a WR running routes all over the field.

I didn't get to see the Cardinals take on the Chiefs, but I wanted to say Good Job! to the Cardinals to holding the Chiefs to only 26 points. In a lost season for the Cards that's an awesome result.

Just in case you haven't heard this anecdote yet about the Bucs: This past week the Bucs offense piled up yardage, seemingly moving at will, to then clam up and be unable to score in the Red Zone. Turns out mastermind and totally not on the hot seat head coach Dirk Koetter took over playcalling duties from his OC. Cause clearly the fix to the Bucs defense is to score less points on offense. Good job, Dick!

The Rams lost Cooper Kupp for the season, which is a blow that might make their offense a little more easy to defend against. Now they'll only score 30 points a game instead of 36 points.

Work has been nuts for me this week, so apologies on the lateness of my post and lack of formatting. Have a great week!

The Chiefs scored 20 in the first half and costed the rest of the way. It felt like they went vanilla, but could score more if they needed to. The one theory is that Watkins is really what sets this offense apart. He changes how teams have to play defense. Take either him or Hill out, and it changes what they can do. But they still put up 20 in the first half.

I think the Rams game could be very telling, facing an offense that can run with them offensively, but probably has a better defense. I say probably because lately, the Chiefs have looked a lot better and the Rams a lot worse. But the one thing Arizona did seem to exploit was the Chiefs interior line. And I imagine Donald and Suh are licking their chops.

Saw this in the KC Star today:

It's great that the Chiefs - Rams game is on a Patriots bye. It will probably be the game I watch start to finish on Sunday.

Brees has looked insane. It does make me wonder though, since Brees, and many other QB's are seeing increased completions this season but Brady's are going down if this is his "Peyton 2015" moment. Just doing the eye test over the last few years it he has been losing throwing power but this year it seems more drastic. It also isn't helping that he doesn't appear to be going through his options as well as he used to.

Chiefs/Rams is Monday night.

Any other links for the soul stealing video? Seems to have been taken down.

WTH? That was posted by the official Colts Twitter account. Weird.

Oooooh, turns out it was, literally, fake news: https://www.indystar.com/story/sport...

In other news, there was this 5 min video from that game with Nelson mic'd up. The biggest takeaway I have is that the kid hustles whenever anyone does something good or bad and is there to congratulate, etc. That's awesome.

So who are Eagles up against this week?

.... oh.

Granted, I'm actually doing sound booth for my Church's evening services now so I won't be able to watch anyway, so... maybe I can take a week off from the pain.

So no Mexico City game after all?

If you win the SB isn't there a rule of no whining for 5yrs?

I think we're going to need a bigger boat bottle.

I find it interesting that you chose five years.

Nathan Peterman cleared waivers.

Hey!

Spoiler:

Pretty sure it was Bill Simmons' rule.

Flacco poisoned Lamar!

Lol!

Ah victory formation. Love watching this team run the ball.

Go Hawks.

Well, it's happened. Mahomes has stepped into controversy.

Chiefs, NFL fans have definite opinions on Patrick Mahomes’ ketchup usage

If you thought Mahomes mania couldn’t get any crazier or stranger, well, you’re wrong.

A debate raged Wednesday on Twitter about Mahomes and his love of ketchup.* Specifically, that he’s used it on steak.

*You might think this a joke; it is not

This nugget was revealed in an ESPN feature on Mahomes, which you can read here. The story notes that Mahomes has loved ketchup since his was a boy, but now that he’s famous, he shies away from asking for it in restaurants, because he doesn’t want the wrong attention. Well, that little secret is out.

But it gets weirder.

Patrick Mahomes will get a bunch of ketchup freebies, but he wants something better

On Thursday, Heinz Ketchup even promised to supply Mahomes with a lifetime supply of their product if he throws 57 touchdown passes this season.

The Westport Flea Market saw that offer and wasn’t happy. It tweeted Friday: “Kansas City’s Westport Flea Market takes offense to a Pittsburgh ketchup manufacturer dictating when Patrick Mahomes can receive his ketchup. So beginning today, Patrick Mahomes eats free for life at Westport Flea Market and can enjoy unlimited free ketchup.”

During a news conference Thursday, Mahomes fielded multiple ketchup-related questions and let it be known his favorite is from the Texas-based chain Whataburger.

Guess what happened Friday? Yep, Whataburger offered to send Mahomes a bunch of ketchup and a T-shirt.

Here’s guessing Mahomes will be happy to have a little taste of home in Kansas City. And he’ll probably be equally happy to be done talking ketchup.

Mahomes, however, upped the ante when he responded to Whataburger’s offer. We’ll see if he has the power to pull this off:

Texas loves Whataburger's spicy ketchup, something I learned quickly over there.

Lamar Jackson fully practiced today. Flacco listed as doubtful.

I do find it interesting that in 2008 when Troy Smith was about to be handed the starting gig, or at least given a shot at it, that he came down a mystery illness which led to rookie Joe Flacco taking over and never looking back.

Here we have Lamar Jackson being given the same chance and he too comes down ill.

That can't be a coincidence, can it? Perhaps as we look back we'll find Ravens' backup QBs have been more frequently ill than QBs on other teams.

And where, pray tell, was Maester Pycelle during these events, hmmmm?

Well goody for you. Must be nice.

If Lamar Jackson does well at all, I will absolutely rage at my stupid stupid Jaguars.

The Browns are just doing stupid sh*t on purpose now, aren't they?

I kinda want to see it happen.

Not even kinda.

I REALLY want to see it!

It's not like she's gonna go 0-16.

If the current scores hold up, almost every game is an upset. Yet, these games are all, somehow, super boring.

33 years to the day of Joe Theisman's broken leg, Alex Smith broke his.
