Batman: Arkham Knight Catch-All

I'm reinstalling to beat that...

Good luck and have fun

I didn't really do any of the AR challenges, but I did bring my challenge score up higher than my highest Steam friend's score (Silentsod, that's you). Felt like a good stopping point.

I just read this, I just built a new gaming rig with a 1080ti which means time to up my score and avoid anything to do with the batmobile.

I had been bouncing back and forth between this and Assassin’s Creed : Origins for the last couple week until I decided to take a break. I think I’m a littler over half way through the main story and so far it’s been really good, though not a fan of the batmobile stuff. The controls seem off and a lot of it felt forced, like an excuse just to have more stuff to get you in the car. I enjoyed driving around the city, but the tank battles and races were not fun at all.

Also, is it me or is this Arkham game the most difficult of them all? I mean you’ve got all the different types of enemies from the other games along with a host of new ones. One enemy that can detect your detective mode signal, medics that revive fallen comrades, electrified enemies you can’t even attack, and auto-aiming turrets that must be taken out before they tear you to shreds. Throw all of them together in one fight and it makes my head spin. The point I decided to take a break was when I tried to take down one of the Knight’s outposts that had everything crammed together in a really small space. Multiple enemies all armed, three turrets all within a few feet of each other, and of course your medics and detective scanner guys just to make things more interesting. I tried to think about how I would even approach something like that and eventually just turned it off. Hoping to get back to it at some point.

Glad I never have to do that bullsh*t 450-hit combo for the Killer Croc fight again.

Each enemy has a counter, you just need to unlock them in the skill tree. Electrified enemies get grappled, medics and detector militia can be defused with the Disruptor gun before you even attack, turrets can be temporarily disabled with the hacking device.

Some of the militia outposts are actually meant to be destroyed by the Batmobile weapons. The trick is to find a spot where you have the elevation needed to shoot over the walls.

Whoever designed some of those Riddler races should be killed.

...that seems extreme.

I liked the races:)

Instead of killed (this is Batman) they should get sideswiped by an electrified tank going 85 mph and thrown into a brick wall. It's non-lethal!

I have found a new heir to pass the mantle to.

Another thing about fighting: I learned after the very first Arkham game to play the challenges in preparation for the main game. There's no better way to get the hang of combat and losing in a challenge means only a few second delay until you can try again. Once I unlocked the combo challenge, I put the main game on delay until I reached the top of the leaderboard.

I'm a little disappointed in all of you. Did no one else finish New Game+?

NG+ requires you to do the Bat Tank sections of the game again therefore started and not finished because I'm not putting more time into that crap.

Made a start recently. Don't hate the Batmobile. Kind of dig it.

What's the matter, Bonus? Never seen a real Batman player before??

If you mean the disarming of the land mines, yeah, that gets old real quick.

I don't even understand the game logic behind the mines. Most of them aren't out in the street so what are they even for?

At least New Game+ doesn't make you do the Riddler trophies again.

Pretty much any tank combat made my hands cramp up over time and I didn't find that or the mechanics of it fun enough to want to slog through it in NG+.

Pounded in the Bat by your own petard, Quintin.

fite me

No time to fight, I am too busy playing Red Dead 2. Is that on PC yet?

So... This is the only Arkham game I never played. Thinking of getting into it this spring. Looks like I got it free on Epic? and on PS4 (PS+).

I seem to remember some issues with the PC version. Did it ever get patched up to a good state? Or should I play the PS4 version? I googled and there's no PS4 pro patch way it probably won't play any better on my PS5 than my PC. But if console is less buggy or something...

Any thoughts?

FWIW I had no issues on PC.

Me too. In fact, I 100%'d it. I did resort to a cheat sheet for the Riddler puzzles though. There's no way you'd find them all without one.

A lot of the issues on PC seemed to stem from users editing an ini file to unlock framerates over 30 fps. Since the game was designed around that framerate cap, it unsurprisingly broke.

Thanks for the details, Clocky.

Just thought I remembered some hubub like it being pulled from Steam store for a bit right at release. And google shows me I'm right. But never really a story about it being fixed after. But I guess that was a few years ago.
