Playstation 4 Catch-All

So I started playing Infamous: Second Son. Does this game ever get good?
I was a huge fan of the first two, but this seems somewhat bland and not that fun. I'm willing to give it a bit longer, but I also won't feel too bad if I move on.

I thought it was excellent, I would give it some time until you unlock some of the other superpowers.

Yeah, wait to judge untill you get the neon power. I think the DLC story is better than the main game and focuses on using that power.

Cool. I'll give some more time, but I also grabbed Horizon, so I may go to that first.

I love both so from my standpoint you are winning either way!

I wasn't enthralled by any of the sequels to Infamous, although I loved the first one. The gameplay is pretty samey, which I can forgive in the initial installment because it's new. I didn't even finish Infamous 2, and probably the reason I got to the end of 3 was it was just so damned pretty, especially for a near-launch game on the PS4.

Horizon, though - that's now in my pantheon of Favorite Game Experiences. Great story, great writing, fascinating world, and while the gameplay isn't particularly innovative, it's incredibly polished.

I'm due for renewal of my PS Plus membership, so just did my usual searches to find a deal. Someone on eBay is purporting to sell a batch of PS Plus 12 month membership cards for $25 each. The deal strikes me as almost certainly too good to be true, but I read the listing carefully and spotted no shady terms or conditions, and so decided to roll the dice, on the theory that in the worst case Paypal's protections should shield me, or in the worst-worst case, it's a $25 lesson in trusting your instincts and not being so cheap. Fingers crossed... It is frustrating to me the way the pricing of the service contains an implicit inattention tax, where if you don't think to search for a deal you pay $60 but otherwise you can usually get it for $40-50. It feels like paying sticker price for a new car to give them $60.

Keep us posted mrlogical, I'd certainly be more willing to shell out for PS Plus at $25 rather than $60.

More than likely those are keys from console bundles or the like that are being resold. How shady they are is a different question, but I would expect them to work. You can often find cheap second-hand deals on games from console bundles for the same reason.

If you let your ps plus subscription end for a few days or weeks do you get the games back once you sign up?

Yes.

good good because my sub is ending soon and want to try to get a deal.

Just got one of the ebay cards. Had a number of scams but paypal came through each time so I'm not worried.

I, too, was unimpressed by Infamous: SS, but Horizon is amazing. So, yes - you should do that.

Last time I checked, they didn't check your installed games vs your subscription status. So, if something was already installed, you could still play it regardless. The only limitation was you couldn't download anything else from your list until you renewed.

The games you download to your system have an expiration date set to the then-current expiration of your PlayStation Plus subscription. If you attempt to launch one of those games, online or offline, after that expiration date, it'll throw an error message.

Aaaaah you scared me.

Since this is new, someone explain the headphones thing.

There is a jack on the controller. You just plugged them in like normal.

Hah, as suspected, I got an email from eBay letting me know my PlayStation Plus purchase had been from a compromised account. Fortunately it was easy to get my payment refunded. Back to searching for good deals!

uh oh

Yeah I've done some purposeful PS+ breaks to save some cash at times when I wasn't specifically playing something online, but still wanted to grab the + games.

For instance, my current sub ends Dec 6. So I can "buy" Dec's games on Tues the 4th. Then the Jan games show up on Jan 1. But the Feb games don't show up until Feb 5. So in theory I might lapse from Dec 6 and then renew on Feb 4, and "buy" Jan games that night before Feb release.

Then could do the same on Feb 4, 2020, last day of sub, is a Tues. Maybe.

You're just taking advantage of a grey area around retail cards. There's no "inattention tax" from my cable company, phone provider, or Netflix--that's how any subscription service works.

"Are the Sony Gold headphones any good?" is a perennial question, so it has become something of a meme. Like "Is Darksiders any good?"

p. s. I use the Sony Platinum headphones, because I am not a peasant.

A perennial question and a perineal answer.

"Extinction" is on sale for $18-$21. I've had my eye on it for a while because of its similarities to Attack on Titan, but is it any good?

Edit: Coincidentally, I just realized a theme to the other item in my cart which is the movie "I Kill Giants." Lol.

I never got around to the movie, but there is a comic that it is based on that is really amazing. I'd highly recommend it.

If anyone got the RDR2 PS4 Pro bundle, sounds like it has a new, quieter revision of the PS4 Pro.
