NFL 2018: Week 4

Chiefs!

This is why I can’t quit football this season.

I didn’t get to watch live because life. I was going to watch it all later, but I couldn’t resist and decided to keep checking in. Despite how poorly everything went, and the last time I checked it was 4th quarter, with the Chiefs down 10, and 12:47 left, my thought was, well, this is gonna be a great Mahomes comeback.

It has been since Joe Montana that I would have ever thought that. And, at least for that drive, was even better than I could have imagined. Third down, the commentators are wondering how he will handle this, he gets flushed. Out and completes a first down pass left handed. That’s just crazy magic stuff.

Also, after the first of the 4th quarter TDs, the Broncos continued hurry up, snapping with 17 seconds left, and throwing on third down, and went three and out. It was like they were trying to make sure they would have time after a KC inevitable FG, which ended up being a TD because Mahomes. It definitely gave them time to drive on a terrible defense.

What a game, though.

PFT: Von Miller: Patrick Mahomes is “a great quarterback”

Perhaps the most impressive play Mahomes made came when Miller was pressuring him from his right. The right-handed Mahomes scrambled to his left, saw Tyreek Hill open, and wanted to pass. But Mahomes knew that Miller was closing in on him, and if he drew back his arm to pass, Miller would swipe the ball away. So Mahomes switched the ball into his left hand and tossed it to Hill.

Everyone knows Mahomes has all the physical tools, but plays like that show a mentality that few players have. And that’s why Mahomes is so hard to sack. Against the Broncos, Mahomes threw 45 passes and was only sacked once — and that time he was able to scramble toward the line of scrimmage and didn’t lose any yardage. Overall this season, Mahomes has lost just 11 yards on sacks, meaning he gains an average of 109 passing yards for every yard he loses on a sack. Last season, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith lost 207 yards on sacks, meaning he only gained 20 yards passing for every yard he lost on a sack. And the Chiefs’ five offensive linemen this year were all on the team last year.

@LockedOnChiefs
Even more context: Smith lost on average 5.91 yds/sack...Mahomes is on pace to be sacked 15 less times for a loss of only 44 yards or 2.2 yds/sack...a swing of almost 4 yds/sack less than Smith! If he continues his pace he'll have over 5 times the passing yds/sack yard as Smith

Mahomes says his teammates (and coach) keep him humble by imitating his Kermit the Frog-like voice. Andy Reid, he says, does the best impression.

Yep he sounds like he's from Texas.

I'm surprised Brady's pic isn't in black and white.

Hey now. I used to have that exact same Joe Montana costume. It wasn't that long ago!

So, the Ravens get Jimmy Smith and Hayden Hurst (and have C J Mosley and Marshall Yanda healthy) back while the Browns are sitting Terrance Mitchell with an injury.

Why does this still feel like a trap game?

Why are they only favored by 3?

The Mayfield Effect

Josh Allen might be kinda bad: https://twitter.com/Cianaf/status/10...

Course, he's also on the Bills who we know to be bad.

Yeesh. I mean, he's not exactly getting a lot of help from his O-line (guys are getting blocked into him) or his receivers (none of them really ever get open). But Allen is throwing too late and running out of a relatively clean pocket. The next-to-last video -- the one where he leads Kelvin Benjamin right into the waiting safety - is criminal.

I was hoping for the best for Sean McDermott (W&M grad, former Panthers assistant) but I don't think this gig is going to work out for him.

Guy who completed 56% in the Mountain West is throwing 53% in the NFL.

(Some) people somehow shocked.

He's actually already a future hall of famer.

That was just world class defense....

Career TD pass 500 for Brady, caught by... JOSH GORDON

Too bad it wasn't his 420th TD pass... know what I'm sayin'?

Dan Marino dropped on draft day due to rumors of drug use.

He finished his career with 420 passing TDs.

Mari-no. Mari-juana.

What happens? He collects his X million dollars this year and then is a backup again next year there or somewhere else.

Yeah. I have a hard time ascribing the word "tragedy" to millionaires that play a game for money unless it involves paralysis or serious brain injury.

They're using the word "tragic" because FitzTragick is what comes after FitzMagick, ie. his caliber of play goes from magic to tragic. They're not suggesting he personally is suffering from a "tragedy".

Jordan Reed is so fragile, he is the last person who needs to be anywhere near a f&@@$king scooter.

Maybe one will “accidentally” run over Snyder

I think we can crowdfund that in a day or less here in the DC area

The Internet's ruined Mahommes for me. They just did an interview with him on NFL Network and I kept expecting him to ask why aren't there so many songs about rainbows.
