Red Dead Redemption 2 Catch-All

I’m super close to buying a PS4 for the sole reasons do so that I can play Spider-Man (play period) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (play six-ish months before the highly probable PC version comes out).

Does anyone think that there is going to be a significant difference in how the PS4 vs PS4 pro plays RDR2?

GTAV took a year and a half to make it to PC, FWIW.

There is now a PS4 Pro bundle with RDR 2 for $399, FYI.

I think I may have to get this, almost bit on God of War and Spiderman.... I think this will do it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Hands-On Gameplay Analysis

I’ve decided I’m not watching any videos or reading any articles until after I’ve played it for a few days. It’s already a Day One purchase for me, so might as well be surprised.

I’m going physical for this one. If I buy pre-buy on Amazon it seems like past performance indicates a pretty good chance I will NOT get it Day One, correct?

Probably best to just pre-Order at gamestop or whatever?

I've never had issues with the Amazon release day delivery.

I have had some that worked and some that didn't.

I’ve never had a problem with digital preorder. I mean never. 100% satisfaction.

I usually go digital for my games, but with red dead redemption, I bought a PS4 specifically play RDR2 and Spiderman, and I’m probably going to sell the system and the games once I’m done with them. As such it’s better for me to buy a physical copy.

True.

But I sold God of War for $40 after paying $60 and playing it. So it cost me $20 to play it. If I had bought digital it would have cost $60.

I loved the game, it was wonderful but with so many great games I know I wouldn't play it again so owning it forever digitally is less cost effective in my opinion

How long did it take you (in days ) to finish RDR1? Do you think it will take longer for RDR2?

It took me a month and a half, and that was by doing my 30-something equivalent of power gaming.

I’m naturally assuming that RDR2 will be longer.

With the first one I played it for about 6 weeks, took a long break, played for another 6 weeks. By that time I was at the final level. On the one year anniversary of its release I powered through to the end.

No idea how long the first one took me. If the hunting and/or the screenshot system are any where near decent in RDR2 then it will take me waaaaaay longer.

I hope the online missions are good. I loved them in the first game.

That damn gameplay video. Dammit.

...sigh. I mean, I knew this was a Day 1 purchase, but I was trying to keep myself from getting too excited.

I am VERY excited.

So sounds like this is going to be 105gigs to install, might be time to invest in a HDD for my system.

So that is the install size from the PS4 Pro Bundle. I wonder if there is a smaller 1080p install size. I don't know what Sony is doing on their side but Microsoft recently debuted a system that will minimize the install sizes of their games by letting you only install the parts you need/want (Halo The Master Chief Collection is the first game to use it). It lets you do stuff like only install single player with the English language pack and 1080p textures depending on how the developer set their games up to support it.

Yeah I would love a system that let me opt out of things especially multiplayer. Doom and Last of us jump to mind as games that I have 0 interest in multiplayer but cant justify having sit on my hdd for the few times a year I've wanted to replay them.

I'm assuming RD2 is holding some of that space for when the multiplayer launches. Between wanting to beat dragon quest 11 and God of war, and also leaving Spiderman installed for the dlc it doesnt leave alot of room left over for this.

I'm probably in the minority of people who dont beat games before buying a new one though.

The closest thing I've seen is that some games will let you play the single player, or a portion of it, while the rest of the game installs. Uncharted: Lost Legacy recently did this when I popped it in. I preordered RDR2 digitally so I'll be curious if they do something similar.

I tend to leave everything I own installed but I have 4 TB of storage for my Xbox One X.

Anyone watch it? I haven't had a chance yet.

I posted what I found today here.

I watched it. I thought it did a good job of leaving me wanting more and got me more excited about the launch. It looks like they have borrowed a few elements from GTA V but I won’t mention those here in case people are avoiding all content pre release.

Woah, first person mode. That looks... amazing.

I am going to lose weeks of my life to this game, I think.
