Red Dead Redemption 2 Catch-All

Awesome, it was confirmed that the footage was captured from a PS4 Pro which is what I have. I was worried that might have been off an Xbox One X.

I'll bet this is related to them having some kind of promotional arrangement with Sony. Hopefully that doesn't lead to any baloney about exclusive content.

Hmmmm not sure I’m going to be able to wait to buy this looks exactly what I wast from a western and a sequel to RDR.

Yeah, I might end up reshuffling my Fall gaming plans and going all in on this.

So it might look even better on my XB1!

Yep!!!

xbox one x is more powerful than the ps4 pro? Please clarify and illustrate this humble naive gamer.

If i still DO NOT have a 4k TV is the upgrade to either console worth it?

Yes. The pro and X have more stable framerates and will downscale to 1080p to give less jaggies.

Brief run down of their spec's.. the most important is the GPU differences as well as the memory and bandwidth. In the end both will look really good at 1080P as they improve frame rates and visual quality.

I bought a 1X and hooked it to my 720p 55” HD TV. I did notice better quality. Now that I have the 1X hooked to a 4K UHD monitor, I get to enjoy the full monte of it all.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Easy Allies Hands-On Preview

I'm surprised this hasn't blown up this thread yet, as it was announced a day ago. Rockstar is giving RDR the GTA multiplayer experience with Red Dead Online.

It's probably went unheralded, because everybody had to expect that to happen.

I didn't realize online was going to be coming post launch. Have they given any clues how long post launch that will be?

The public beta will be in November, which is the only timeframe they've given so far. After RDR1's multiplayer, and the absurd success of GTA5's, it seemed like a no-brainer for RDR2 to feature it as well.

Lots of new previews out this morning. The thing that excites me most are all the life simulation aspects they're adding in. Weapon degradation, horse cleaning, eating, the different ways of interacting with NPCs, having to c*ck your gun between shots, etc. It's going to have a very different feel from other action games, I think, and I can't wait to experience it.

Reading an article on Kotaku about this and this bit made me laugh:

After seeing the game’s first trailer, we and others had wondered if the horse’s testicles were animated. I asked, and they told me that the testicles shrink and expand depending on the temperature in the game world. Details, details.

Can you imagine being the person tasked with doing that?

"What'd you do at work today?"

"I made horse testicles."

Also i've not seen this being for PC, but still just for consoles.

I expect we'll see exactly the GTA5 model followed with regards to a PC release for this game.

Given the current industry climate and the success of GTA5 on PC, they’d be crazy to not release a PC port. However, they also probably see no reason to split their development resources ahead of time since they have good precedent that indicates releasing a PC port later does not seem to have an impact on their sales numbers. In fact, they may even see signs that it has the opposite effect; ie, if they time and promote things right, they get more overall sales because they’ll get lots of people to double dip and upgrade from a console version to a PC version if they manage the release appropriately.

And that last note is exactly why we won’t hear a single goddamn thing about even the possibility of a PC port until at least a month or two (or three) after the console release, exactly as was the case with the GTA5 port, because they know their games hold a special place in the hearts and imaginations of their audiences. They know they have a large number of customers who would wait for a PC version if they knew one was coming for sure, but in the absence of that certainty they aren’t going to miss out on the initial release. Then, a good number of those people will not be able to resist the temptation to get the highest quality version of the game when it eventually is available.

For my part, I’m trying as hard as I possibly can to just wait on this one and see just how long it takes for the PC port to get announced (and how far it will be away after it does). Because as much as I very much fall into the category of people I just described above, I really probably don’t need to be playing it right away.

I personally think this is a good idea. Let people focus on the single player for a while.

Not the same type of game, but I hated how soon after each release Bungie would open up Destiny's raids. It makes you race through 90% of the content. I want to take my time and enjoy it. In Destiny's case, I wish they had waited a few weeks each time. Maybe the world-first competitors like it like it is, but there aren't that many of them.

Given how Rockstar handled GTA5 I think people were just more excited that Red Dead Online is releasing with a single-player story mode.

Its also a brilliant on the Review score front as If they released it simultaneously a lot of reviews would do no it for the inevitable online startup problems. By spacing it, they circumvent that.

I *animated* the horse testicles.

Well to be more specific, I’m with the team of animators who’s job it is to make the horse testes get bigger when it’s warm and shrink when it gets cold.

“We actually had to spend the whole day watching videos of them get bigger and smaller, bigger and smaller, so we’d get the animation right.”
