Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Smash All

That's interesting, I don't know anyone with the Xeno 2 Pro so I hadn't heard that. Everytime I see this I think that maybe I could justify buying it...but I really shouldn't!

A better D-pad means less for Smash Ultimate since it doesn’t use it for anything other than taunts. For games like Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Shovel Knight or fighting games like BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle and Pokken it’s a godsend. The buttons and triggers also felt better to me, though I don’t think that changed much.

Interesting. I use the analogue stick for Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, and Shovel Knight. I don't think having access to a great dpad would change that for me.

I got used to controlling 2D games with the analogue sticks during the 360 era because the dpad on that controller was such garbage. Well, that and the hundreds of hours of Smash Melee I played on Gamecube.

Isabelle!!!

Yup!

Although I’m not too crazy about her, I wasn’t too crazy about Villager either. They just don’t seem to fit as well in my opinion.

I was hoping Nintendo was going to double troll on an Animal Crossing release and put Nook in Smash too when he came up at the end of the Direct.

That would have been hilarious! Even the way they actually did it was so funny.

I’ve recently found the music section on the website and have been enjoying it. It’s really good background music.

I love the music in Smash. I'm looking forward to hearing the full OST when it's released. Looks like we'll have a lot of control over what music is playing during battles too.

NINTENDO RESPONDS TO FAN'S WISH TO PLAY SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE

Chris Taylor is a Nintendo fan who has been diagnosed with cancer. He was unsure as to whether or not he would have the opportunity to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before the game launched. Because he was bedridden, he was unable to attend any preview events where the game would have been playable.

Fortunately, a group of fellow Nintendo fans got together and contacted Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Canada to see if Chris could be granted the opportunity to play the game. The Nintendo of Canada team then traveled to his home with the E3 demo and set up the game so that he and a few of his friends could play the game for a few hours.

I thought this was a really nice story.

Man, that's a great story. Love it when people show compassion.

Just curious; Does anyone still have a friend who you regularly sit on the couch with and play video games with? In person not online?

I never had that friend.

15 year old me that fell in love with GameCube Smash Bros probably would have those 3 friends if he were still 15 now.

Which is to say, Nintendo isn’t going to grow up with us. They need to keep reintroducing new generations to their products.

I'm fortunate that not only does my partner play, but we have a small cabal of local friends who regularly get together to play games of both the board and video variety. We've joked about how December will just become Smash Bros. parties.

That sounds so great!

I would if I still lived in Louisville.

I'll sometimes play Mario Kart with my wife, but that's about it. Played Smash 4 with some friends, but not any sort of regular thing.

We play on the big screen at work at lunch time and after work.

I have friends I hang out with regularly. And I just bought TowerFall on the Switch. We can spend a week or so away from the Magic cards and sit in front of the TV for a bit. Maybe that'll help get them in the habit when Smash hits.

I've got two kids who are co-oping Minecraft as we speak. I've also often had Mario Kart birthday parties for myself, but those friends don't come over for video games very often. I have people over for board games way more frequently.

Lots of Smash talk on this recent episode of the Nintendo Power Podcast. Nothing new, but it's fun hearing people talk about how much they're looking forward to it.

I had a physical preorder in but I ended up cancelling it cause after the points made here, going digital just makes so much sense.

Not where I currently live, but fortunately for me my best Smash friend is going to be at MAGFest with me. Otherwise I'll likely be using Discord to play online with folks when the game comes out in December.

Insanely detailed look at the technical improvements in the stages. I thought I'd be bored, but the video amazed me.

I was never good in science class. I was nodding off a couple times through those fancy physics explanations.

However, I definitely enjoyed the comparison between the two games. Ultimate is looking seriously gorgeous when you zoom in like that. Makes me want it all the more now.

Like...right now.

Tune in 11/1 for roughly 40 minutes of new information in the final Super #SmashBrosUltimate #NintendoDirect before the game’s release, hosted by Director Masahiro Sakurai! The Direct will be followed by a post-show Nintendo Treehouse: Live presentation.

Probably no surprise that were getting another one of these before release. I don't think there are many fighters left to reveal, so maybe we'll get a bit more info on stuff like game modes. I'm still looking forward to learning more about any single player content that might be included. The Treehouse Live presentation sounds cool.

Y'know what? I want Reggie to be in Smash Bros. His body is ready.

And so is mine. I'm getting ridiculously hyped for Smash.

My body is also ready.

If you listen to the rumors and “leaks” there may be as many as 7 additional characters including Banjo-Kazooie and Geno.

Getting the system Friday, think my hype level will increase.

Is anywhere doing a trade-in deal? Or does you just buy a second system?

The Smash Switch is pretty cool!

If that leak turns out true I'm going to eat... well, not a hat. I don't think my digestive system could handle that.

Broccoli. I'm going to eat broccoli.

Seriously, though, aside from being even more wish-fulfillment than any of the announcements so far, it was all based off of incredibly blurry images whose art in some instances looked quite photoshopped on (particularly Isaac from Golden Sun. Despite the blur he had some thick dark lines that looked like it was pulled from fan art or some other artwork that just did not fit).

I mean, at this stage, I'm also ready for Nintendo to conclude with a "Oh, by the way, Mother 3's being localized, jerks" because why not. They're in the business of fan-service these days it seems. Still, that leak just seemed more fishy than a staged Ubisoft E3 "gameplay" presentation.
