Black Desert

BTW, have you seen the Kamasylve housing tour?

New expansion released this week.

Does anyone by chance have any of the permanent passes they don't plan on using?

Bought the 10$ version of the game. It is 50% off.

Anyone still play? Or which clan were we associated with?

First thing I'm seeing I might not like so far is the inventory... It's cramped.

Is there guides or pointers you guys can give to a new player? I might play 10 or so hours.

With just 10 hours i'd suggest just play around with the different classes and quests. You get storage increases by doing quests.

10 hours is just to get my money's worth. But if I don't feel the pressure of the cash shop, I might even play more. Heck, I played more in Tera than expected, and made possible to buy gametime with in game cash.

So, questions!

1 - can you buy stuff with in game cash that normally require money?

2 - how do you invest in the commerce in town with you gold bar?

1- I honestly don't know how the economy works anymore. It's changed 2-3 times since i spent significant time with the game.

2 - that's one part of the game i didn't get into. There's a whole town investment mechanic that's is available to do. I just didn't get into that. Most i did was create a workflow between settlements that made me enough money to buy the gear i wanted at the time. Which i think the mechanics of how that works has also changed.

Until you hit the soft cap in leveling (50) there's no real great need to do more than level up to that point. The cool thing is that all your gear and items are account based so the stuff you acquire at 50 you can immediately start using at level 1 on another character.

Big thing to know is that you get xp bonuses for doing things in a party and group up if you can. Don't be shy.

First things first is to find out if you like the combat or not because this is still a KR game and there is a lot of grinding. For me i loved the combat so much that it's the first game i actually enjoyed and looked forward to grinding.

Thanks for the information.

I played a little bit more. Gonna mix that game, Endless Space and Destiny.

I noticed they want you to be afk, but day long afk...

Is there a reason? Do they mined our computer? Or just to show the world to be "alive" ?

I don't like that it shows I'm playing the game in Steam. Is there a login page without Steam? Can it be unlink?

I was kinda planning to calculate my game time from the Steam app, but guess I'll need to forget about it.

I have no clue. I play the game outside of Steam. It's my understanding that some things along those lines were changed for Steam. I even think some of the world servers were Steam specific.

The game encourages AFK grinding. It's common for players to leave their machines on overnight grinding at something (like crafting). Other things like workers only do their work when you're logged in. Some dedicated players have machines that only run BDO 24/7. It's a weird mechanic I don't really understand and I haven't seen in other games.

I remember setting up my characters to fish or run horses overnight to level them up. I ended up quitting because I didn't have time to keep up with the grind and my friends had left me behind.

Is anyone still playing this? I was thinking about picking it up.

Not currently. I jumped in to play the new character a couple months ago.

The Lahn looks amazing. I could probably jump in once that class hits the states. The mystic and dark knight look pretty cool too.

Even more fun because in KR the character is called Ran.

Funny you guys talking about this game. Got an email talking about combat changes...

So, it seems like nobody is playing this game anymore; picked up the Steam edition (then found out my rl bro is on an Oceana server which is not available on the Steam servers). Only $9.99 so I may buy direct so I can log in and mess around with my bro.

Any useful guides on nodes, making silver, low level gearing to 60+ etc?

All the guides i used are 2 years old and no clue if they still apply. Leveling is better when in a group. More people in the group the higher xp bonus you get. The rest is just the typical KR grind/grind/grind. Luckily, this game actually makes that part fun.

I was thinking about sticking my head back in once they release the remastered version. The game is already amazingly beautiful and excited to see an updated version.

Thanks, I'll have a look, although I'm just grinding out the story single-player style so far.

Honestly, I'm more excited about the different costumes than the story!

The story is in line with say typical fare from a company like square enix (something something treachery in the kingdom something something demons).

The combat animations are beautiful (I'm playing Maewha and the katana aesthetic looks wonderful).
However, the combat system seems to have a fairly high ceiling in terms of chaining combos (getting harder to burn into muscle memory as I get older).

Given the amount of grinding for this game, is there any way you can key bind a specific combo to avoid getting RSI from mashing the keyboard? I suspect the answer is no based upon the PVP focus of the game, with all the various CCs and counters etc

Maybe Autohotkey can offer something, but not sure if that's something they check for or if its allowed within their ToS. If you notice when you launch the game there's an anti-cheat component that loads as well.

It's not too bad unless you start swapping between different characters a lot.

Although it takes a bit of configuration to get a comfortable layout, the game actually plays quite well with a controller, which was my way of dealing with this problem. I always kept my keyboard and mouse close by for more intense UI interaction, but for combat alone I found it quite fun to just treat it like a character action game I might have played on a console ten years ago.

BDO is now on Steam and that's how I access it, I suspect something like Autohotkey will breach the Steam TOS, so I'll probably steer clear for now.

Arise!

Mobile version is available for pre-download. Launching on Dec. 11. I'm stoked!

Btw, the game was soft launched in some areas, so you can use a VPN to connect to the game. I believe Canada will work, unless you're in Canada then you don't need to bother.

Call me old fashion, but the idea of mobile MMOs are just non starter for me.
