I have pulled off a phenomenal act of will - for me - with BofA. For the first time since Wrath, I will not be maining on my pally. I will be having the first go on the monk.

Long-time paladin here, and I have to admit that I'm coming around to my WW monk, too. My only real regret is that I hate the monk transmogs (pro tip: roll a trial account to get the basic monk set) and I can't find a mount I like for a panda monk. I mean, a talking tiger is great and all, but it gets kind of annoying after a while. Otherwise, WW has been pretty fun.

I'll have to take your advice and try out a monk healer. I have zero issues with my holy pal but I always like to see how other classes do it.

Oh, I looove all of the pally specs. But that is the issue too. I just want to try something new, invest the time beyond what I would do with an alt. Holy pally is incredibly effective. Monks are like pallys but not. They have the tri-spec option (tank/heal/dps). But where the pally is slow and durable, the monk is very mobile and more squishy. I like the trade off and it's been fun re-tooling my play style.

I do not have a lot of play time, especially when weighed against an MMO. So with every expac I always hem-haw for a bit and then fall back to the safe choice, paladin. This time I am taking the plunge. I agree on the panda transmogs. Not good. I rolled a human, the inspiration was that he is a remake of my monk from Diablo 3.

*EDIT - if you roll a trial monk, it unlocks more transmog options? That true for all classes?

This outfit was my prize for doing the monk trial even though I have a lvl 110 monk. I don't know why it worked -- it just did.

I haven't tried it on any other classes because I like (as opposed to actively hating) the transmogs that I have.

I had been rocking the Shado Pan set but I needed a fresh new look for BfA.

@lancejt - use your token on whatever you want.
The short of it is to create one and if you don't like it, start a demon hunter. If you do like it, start a demon hunter of the opposite faction to check out their quest line or earn the unlocks and allied races.

After spending TWO MONTHS grinding rep for Legion Flying and completing Broken Isles Pathfinder (part 1) on my horde mage, I am so sick of that character, I am retiring it for good. The simple fact was that he had the highest rep for all the factions and he had made it the furthest in Suramar (my least favorite Legion zone) than any of my alts. It doesn't help that it had been my main since before Wrath and has by far the most hours played of any of my 22+ characters.

I'm not even using my horde mage to complete Broken Isles Pathfinder (part 2), even though it would probably be fastest. I have had it with mage-ing. Instead I am leveling my 103 Human monk and I'm going to do the Armies of Legionfall stuff with that character. Human, because faster rep, but the bottom line is that leveling and doing the Broken Shore stuff is still going to be slower. I just need a max level human character just to make rep grinds marginally less torturous, because Blizzard loves them so much.

I'm doing this before I'm going any further in BFA content. I just want it overwith. I want Legion Flying for my half-dozen Alliance alts that still need to level through Legion. I'm not spending $360 to boost them all, that's for sure.

For those that would be interested. The token price has taken a nosedive to around 130k.

Got my 2nd BoE last night. Prices are dropping from the millions, but was able to sell it for 480k.

Its about 2 tokens to get a boost though right? Is it more? I think a token nets you $15 in the store and boosts are $60 but it can't cost your 4 tokens to buy a boost?

Found it frustrating, getting Ilevel up from when I hit 120 (was around 285 when I dinged Thursday night Sydney time). Every upgrade was minimal, even running normals.

Finally cracked the 305 mark this morning (Sunday), mainly by breaking down and buying some 300-310 rings and trinkets at the AH which means I can queue for heroics. Within a couple hours playtime had shot up to 311 so I'm finally on the move

One of my guildies is 337 already lol

Bringing Diablo into WoW feels annoying - same item can be like 315 or 350 depending on rngesus.

I decided to jump back in and start from level 1 - Dwarven Hunter on Blackhand. Ive dabbled over the years, but havent played in a long time. Suggestions and advice as well as how to get more bag space is welcome. Spygimli reporting for duty. Level 15 ATM. Cheers.

AH more than likely. The general goods vendors will sell bigger bags as you move through the expansions. You probably want to stay away from tailoring unless you like crafting.
There are sporadic quest rewards that will give your 8-10 slot bags.
I don't know if Enix or anyone on Blackhand is a tailor.
The other thing is to create a Demon Hunter on Blackhand. Play it for a few hours and you will have a few thousand gold to play with and donate to Spygimli.
I'd also highly recommend using this Demon Hunter to stock up on heirlooms since they are account-wide unlocks. (if you haven't unlocked them already)

Well finally got my new Alliance DH into BFA. Man demon hunter is fun to play! They are monsters at AOE and the double jump and glide makes me miss flying a little less.

It’s amazing how many more herb and ore deposits there are on the Alliance map, at least where I am. In Zandalar I was struggling to find things to harvest.

Tokens were at 136k today. I had to buy one, that's just an awesome price. When I came back to play WoW a couple months ago, I bought a token to sell on the AH for 209k. I haven't really looked at prices but I feel like using 136k to save $15 was well worth it.

I'm coming out of super long retirement, played only in the early days until WotLK, playing a trial 110 night elf cleric (discipline spec only) on Blackhand. Her name is Marshlights.

I don't understand how anything works anymore and forgot what I knew. See y'all in game!

Heya, 3or4, welcome back.

Find me in game if you want a guild invite.

Yes, lots has changed since the days of the Lich King.

Disc is tricky. Atonement healing means you're healing by doing DPS. My disc priest levels great but I have to really pay attention in 5s.

Holy Nova's back (but as a cast vs. instant). That's something to look forward to when I try out the Horde side of this expansion.

Unfortunately you have to already have a level 70 character before you can create a Demon Hunter.

The easiest way to get back upgrades is to ask for some bags in guild chat. A short time later, 4 bags will magically appear in your mailbox.

I'm low on hexweave right now for 30 slot bags, but I could hop on and make you some 24-slot silkweave satchels no problem.

Are there any dungeons that can be done solo or is it all 5 man groups. Im not a huge fan of random grouping especially since I dont know any of the dungeons. Im a level 25 Hunter (Spygimli).

If I boost one of my characters - to 100 or 110 - would that let me play a DH?

Thanks

Yes I used my 100 boost and was able to roll one. I think you can even create a 100 demo character but not sure about that.

The Dungeons are all 5 man groups, unless you are way overleveled for them. As a DPS, I have had 90%+ good groups when doing random dungeons with strangers, but I've definitely had bad experiences. For the most part, as a DPS, leveling dungeons involve just following the group and attacking things that the tank pulls. No one usually talks, and it can feel like you are playing along with some AI. Looking for Raid (LFR), which is available at higher levels, can be even easier, since there are a lot more people, so your individual contribution is not as significant.

Generally my partner does not like to do dungeons or raids, but she will occasionally do them if I am with her. Now, this is a woman who healed and tanked in raids back in Vanilla and BC, so she is perfectly capable, but these days she does not like the stress of instanced grouped content. I can totally understand people deciding not to participate in that aspect of the game.

Spy I’d be happy to group up with you with my Druid if you want to run some dungeons together. Working on learning healing plus would be able to get in the dungeon much faster.

I'll be back on Thursday and can do some grouping.

MMO-Champion has posted a handy-dandy guide for what to do when you hit 120.

TL,DR:
* Gear up
* Do World Quest
* Grind out Champions of Azeroth (for Heart of Azeroth) rep, 7th Legion/Honorbound (for various unlocks) rep and Azerite (to improve your gear)
* Do Pathfinder so you can fly when it's available. The TL,DR for that: Explore, do main story quests, do War Campaign, do WQs, get lots of reps to revered.

I finally started BfA this weekend and am enjoying the hell out of it so far. I'm at 112 after doing about half of the Drustvar quests (and nothing outside of that).

I just realized as I hit 111 that there seems to be no new talents or abilities (though I recognize I may be missing something). Do you feel stronger as you level, or is it a pointless grind to get to the good stuff?

I’m looking forward to trying war zones and islands but man I’m not digging more grind after a year spent slowly leveling in 7.3.5.

Most of the progression will come from your Azerite armor giving you extra buffs and supporting abilities.

Expeditions are fun but unless I missed something, they don't reward much xp. (aside from tearing through normal and elite monsters)

Zandalar is really awesome. I'm about to hit 118 and I've started the third area. The order I went in was the Princess and the blood trolls first, the desert second and the Zul prophet one last/now. It is some of the most fun I've had in WoW. I would love to try out the dungeons some times but the queues are long and I have waited for over 45 minutes without starting one.

Also, to me, the Azerite armor traits are WAAAAAAYYYYY better than artifact weapons. But I guess 7 abilities that you can use per fight (vs. 2-5 minute cooldowns) is not for everybody.
My favorite is the ability that adds a pretty significant punch to the end of fel rush. I have only gotten DH abilities so far but they are really nice.

This is essentially a decent replacement for the artifact ability with Chaos Strike. It's hard to hit all targets with every rush, but when using momentum it hits for 6k-8k.

By about level 115 you will start to feel weaker actually. At 120 out doing quests, it's taking longer to kill things than it did at 110. The scaling is whack, of course only gradually getting better endgame gear will make you stronger.

Interesting! At lvl 112, my ret pal hits like a mothereffing truck. He's geared OK -- a couple of pieces of Azerite gear and a few other upgrades -- but it's much better than I expected.

If you have legendaries you won't notice a slow down till 116 when the on equips stop working. Basically when you reach the 3rd zone TTK slows down, but it's not horrible.
