Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Catch-all

The vendors who have scales as their icon. There's one in each major city.

Thanks for the info.. I will look into it.
I havent sold anything, since i have no idea if what i am selling is used to make the refined core crystals.

Also... is Tora limited to just using popi and the second poppi?

Development level (ie. The stars) is also raised by buying and selling items in that area. Salvaging is a quick way to do that as the items you trade in count toward the dev level.

Oh man I forgot about that, and they actually had a tutorial for that.

There's just so many pieces to this game it's hard to keep up. And taking a break for 2 months doesn't help with that.

I was just about to say that. There is SO MUCH going on that you forget. And since I have had no real issues progressing through the story, I havent looked into other aspects of the game

Bump

I am on the last fight -I think- and havent been able to defeat it. I am level 68ish

But boy oh boy.. what a great game.
At least for me the story and everything has been fantastic.

So I just started Chapter 6 this weekend, played a couple hours into it last night. I'll spoiler

Spoiler:

End of chapter 5 is when you fight Jin and learn his motivations. It's not uncommon to have a bad guy have some troubled past for starting them on their course.

There's still more of that story to find out, but getting that bit of backstory combined with watching the trailers for the Torna DLC have me pretty excited for it dropping this week. I still have a ways to go in the main story I think though ...

Yep.. keep playing my friend.. game and the st ory is awesome.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country Switch review - A huge slice of lovely JRPG

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was big enough as a base game, but developer Monolith Soft apparently decided there should be even more of it - hence the new expansion, Torna - The Golden Country.

But don't think this is just a small bit of add-on DLC. Torna - The Golden Country is absolutely massive, stuffed to the brim with new skills to unlock, stories to uncover, and quests to complete.

If you already enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles 2, you're definitely going to enjoy this expansion. But as a standalone piece, it's not entirely clear who it's appealing to.

Sure. When the first 300 hours just isn’t enough.

I'm super excited for my copy to arrive. This is easily my favorite Switch game, and I'm happy to have more.

Pro Tip: If you bought the Season Pass, you've had access to Torna from last Friday. I'm 4 hours in and love it so far.

I did not buy the season pass. Although I guess I'm getting one with my Torna cart.

I honestly don't know. I just wish I'd known before, since it's too late to cancel my Amazon order for said cart.

Ah, I was confused why people were talking about it as an upcoming release, since I thought it was out already.
Oh well, too much to play right now, not really sure when I'll get to it, but I most certainly will.
Seems like a shame that it is (supposedly?) entirely separate from the main game though. It could have given a reason to go back to the main game after finishing the expansion.

It is completely segregated from the main game. There isn't any transference of save data, progress, or anything like that. Which I'm fine with, as it's apparently about 20 hours to finish the campaign in Torna plus a lot more for all the side content. That's one heck of a detour.

I'm a bit puzzled by this release. I didn't buy the season pass. Is this Torna release included in it already or just early accesss to it? Then buying a physical copy of Torna gives you a code for the season pass? Does that mean you actually get a digital copy of Torna along with the physical one? The whole thing is pretty muddy for me.

The season pass for Xenoblade 2 includes Torna as DLC pack 5.

If you buy the stand-alone release of Torna, it includes Torna as a stand-alone and also includes a download code for DLC packs 1 through 4 of Xenoblade 2.

I'm only a couple hours in, but Torna is great so far.

I finally managed to pick this game up, and have been enjoying the heck out of it in a way the first one never clicked with me. I think the more conventionally anime-styled story and characters feel like a better fit with what I want out of the game.

Anyway, I'm just in Chapter 2, so nothing really to add to the conversation for those who have completed the game or are on to the DLC. Guess I just wanted an excuse to tell y'all to always keep it cute and fierce.

I'm loving how they actually explained gameplay in Torna. Why couldn't they have had those explanations in the main game? If I hadn't played the original Xenoblade, I would have had no clue how to fight.

So... does anyone want a physical copy of Torna? It's unopened, but I don't need it because it was included in my season pass...

I think Torna benefits quite a bit from the accelerated pace so far as tutorials go. One of the challenges with the main game is that concepts are tutorialized when they're technically possible but difficult to actually pull off. By the time you can do them regularly, the tutorials are long in the past.

I'm not sure that much carries over between Xenoblade 1 and Xenoblade 2, though. I'm playing both right now, and the combat is pretty different in both concept and execution. About the only things I can think of that are common between both games are some of the terminology (like Arts) and following Break with Topple (after Topple, the games differ in what statuses are inflicted and what they do).

Anyone know if season pass “gifts” are available for multiple playthroughs or are they one time use only. I’m not sure why I should be concerned — I doubt I’ll start again from scratch myself. But my potion-hoarding, better-to-save-than-use self is convinced it’s not worth claiming all these legendary cores if they’re one-and-done and won’t be able to be used on other playthroughs.

I finished Torna two days ago, and have so many, many questions...

I actually don't know, but my assumption is if you start an entirely new game you'll get the gifts again. There's only one save slot so if you start a new game it'll wipe your old one away so the expansion pass stuff will reset itself in-game.

Quick internet search shows me people who restarted get access to the items again.

Because of reviews and complaints. After three games where people complained about the tutorials they must've finally listened. Of course, reviews hammered XC2 for the "see it once" tutorial aspect which they fixed for Torna, thankfully.

Overall or related to some of the nebulous cutscenes at the end?

Thanks. My searches weren't turning up anything definitive. I hoped that's how it would work. Now to get to claiming all that good stuff

I've made it to the final fight, which I know because it's very explicitly proclaimed that there's no turning back.

In the last 10-15 hours of playing I've also gotten my quest list from 6 or 7 pages down to less than 3. I suppose I'm kind of prepared for the boss now?

I would like to farm some core crystals and try and grab a few more unique blades. Last one I got was Dahlia, she's... interesting.

Overall really pleased with the game, it's been a long time since I've put 100 hours into any game. Would like to give Torna a run through too, not sure if I'll do it right after XC2. I don't feel like leaving XC2 though, I still feel the desire to get my level 71-73 party higher, farm for some more blades, get Poppi's better upgraded, finish off side quests, get town rank's up.... my god there's a lot to do in this game.

The nebulous cutscenes and how they relate to the main game.

Specifically,

Spoiler:

I still don't get how and why Jin teamed up with Malos, and why he stabbed Rex in the back. Especially as he knew that Mythra's true driver was somewhere in the future...

Right there with you. In my head-canon...

Spoiler:

The act of becoming a flesh eater drastically altered Jin's world view because of how close he was to Lora. One might also assume this act caused him to become a bit unhinged/irrational. That might not reconcile everything but I prefer it to a nonsensical Anime plotline (at best) or a lazy translation (at worst).
