Oh, that flak's going to look like confetti by comparison.
Jerry Jones told players they can't stay in locker room during anthem.

OK.

Remember, the league canned the previously announced anthem policy. The whole you-can-stay-in-the-locker-room thing is moot now, because that policy is cancelled. The league rules this year are no different from last year.

Hence why some owners like Jerruh are instating their own asshole policies.

Hey kids, is your owner an asshole? I invite you to join us in Santa "San Francisco" Clara, where you can enjoy Garoppolo Fever while cheering for a team whose owner is not supporting any of this nonsense.

I have been a truly lifelong Cowboys fan. I have followed the team since 1975. I have an autographed picture and personal letter from Roger Staubach. I celebrated the one win in 1989 because is was against the Redskins and knocked them out of the playoffs. I have dealt with the sh*tshow that has been the last two decades of Cowboys playoff futility under Jones. I have always remained a fan and stood by my team.

Until now. I was already planning on sitting this season out. This only solidifies it.

Wait, what? I somehow missed this?

Welcome, brother. Join in the Jerry hatred.

Oh, I have hated Jerry as long as you have. I hated the way he got rid of Landry (although it was time). This is just the first time where it's caused me to not be able to watch the team.

The Landry firing was what made me stop being a fan, as long as Jerruh is associated with the team. Agree it was time for Landry to step down but how it was done was typical Jones classlessness. He has never disappointed me once by doing a good or decent thing.

When he goes away, I might become a Cowboys fan again. But at this point I have been a hater for longer than I was a fan (born and raised north of Dallas in the 60's, was a huge fan as far back as I can remember because that's just what you were back in that time and place).

Ugh. I'm watching football this year because Aaron Rodgers but holy f*ck I'm so out the second the Packers are not relevant.

Between the sh*tty player stories, sh*tty owner stories and the sh*tty league management it's really hard to like anything.

Dude, I feel the same way. Over and over I think it is no longer worth supporting such a league. But I've waited a long ass time to root for a team that has drafted a 1st round QB. The last one the Chiefs drafted was Todd Blackledge. Before that I was a fan of the Big Red, and was sure Neil Lomax was the second coming of Johnny Unitas.

So I'm not skipping out on riding the Mahomes wave for as long as it lasts. But the NFL is eking closer and closer to becoming a guilty pleasure, if it is not already. If it weren't for Mahomes, I would be more excited for the NBA and NHL seasons.

Note that the door is still open to reverse course, but as of right now, no new rules will be enforced for the upcoming season.

Well then.

Nope, still going to enjoy other things on fall Sundays, I believe.

TIL: Laquon Treadwell is younger than Calvin Ridley.

He's younger AND he has 21 more NFL catches than Ridley. How impressive is that?

Seahawks again say their fans are the loudest. Chiefs fans again smack down that claim

This is a record that many Chiefs fans cherish.

In 2014, Chiefs fans set the Guinness record when the noise at Arrowhead Stadium hit 142.2 decibels, breaking the previous mark of 137.6 decibels that had been set by Seattle fans at CenturyLink Field.

Since that time, the Seahawks have still asserted that their fans are the loudest.

Seattle sucks for turning this into a stupid competition in the first place. The Chiefs stumbled upon some great defenses in the 90's, and fans started tormenting opposing QBs, and the stadium experience got louder and louder, as they tried to get QBs like John Elway to flip out.

But Arrowhead is wide open, as the stadium is more like a bowl. Seattle strolls in and builds a stadium that is designed to keep the sound in the stadium and make things louder. Then they started acting like they invented the 12th man thing, in the same way A&M pretends they did.

But once Seattle started trying to have their loudness record certified, KC had to challenge them, and the entire things is stupid. when I was going to games in the 90's, no one was trying to break a record. We were trying to root our team to a win and torment the opposition. But now Seattle has spread the stupidity of just screaming to scream to KC, and it just degrades the entire experience.

I don't want to see a stupid decibel meter on the scoreboard. I enjoyed seeing Steve Young sacked in the endzone during a 49-9 loss in which the fans played a big part.

At this point, I wish KC would just let Seattle have their paper crown.

I agree that Seattle sucks and that 12s are sad and lame.

I agree that Seattle and Kansas City spend too much effort trying to damage the hearing of people in their stadiums.

I agree that both fan bases are sad and lonely and probably need to figure out that true fans throw batteries and preserve their voices for more important things like booing Santa Claus.

I agree with this. It's why it's gotten so annoying. In the 90's, Arrowhead just happened to be loud, no one was trying to break records and go nuts. The difference in games now is that the team shows the damn meters and challenges the fans to go nuts.

Be careful, Seattle may get jealous and challenge Philly by throwing grenades and booing Mister Rogers.

Whelp, with training camp upon us the injury train is also here.

Vita Vea was carted off the field with a power leg or calf injury. No word on the actual injury.

Reality isn't the only place where the Jags are goofed on:

"I can't predict the future, but, no, (snicker) they won't."

In S2, the show also referred to the Jags' QB1 as "Derek Bortles."

Thankfully turned out to be minor.

Reports are saying that Joe Flacco has been a monster in camp. Sure, sure. Watch him put up elite number this year. Then the Ravens could trade him to the Giants after Eli retires. Oh wouldn't that be something!

There is truly a GIF for everything.

In unrelated news, I can't wait for the Panthers to move camp from Spartanburg bc I STG the place is cursed.

Starting RT Darryl Williams hurt his knee in practice Saturday. Today, the Panthers cut practice short when backup CB Ross Cockrell broke his leg.

Apparently the ghost* of Jerry Richardson (Wofford class of '59) is a vindictive SOB.

* Not actually dead; just metaphorically so.

Okay, so PFT has their column from Peter King and this is the first time I've seen it. It's cheap looking, which isn't a big deal at all cause PFT is clearly run on a shoestring tech budget (it loads fast, that's all that matters to them), but otherwise resembles what he did at MMQB. I'm guessing the whole "time to move on to try other ventures" was quite a bit BS and there had to be some behind the scenes crap go down.

Peter: I'll come on one condition.

PFT: What?

Peter: I get to design the website.

PFT:......

As someone who has been stuck at the same sh!tty media job for way too long, I can see why King wanted to do something different. I suspect he cut way back on his work load, and he's probably traveling less. (He only made two stops for this column.) Plus I bet he figures that NBC is less likely to lay him off than SI is. SI is a mere shell of its former self to the point that I gave up my sub after nearly 40 years. Dead magazine walking.

Speaking of things that have fallen into a rut, Deadspin is back with its annual Why Your Team Sucks feature. This year starts off with the Browns, who are never not funny. But it's kind of the same ol', same ol', which means I'll read the one about the Panthers and probably skip all the rest. (Except for DC; Magary hates himself the DC football team.)

The Browns one was worth it for this alone:

I think the Browns will actually win about 5 games this year, just because everything is so bad now that everyone is numb to it. 5-11 will seem like a step in the right direction, and some optimism will emerge, which then of course will mean Hue stays another year, delivering his final 3-13 gut punch to the city of Cleveland in 2019.

After 0-16, things can only hurt again if things get better and then flip back around to terrible.

I will open the line at 3.5starting QBs for my Browns this year, and that will probably be bet up to 4.5 by the time Hard Knocks ends.
