WoW: Battle for Azeroth (8.3)

I got to the character select screen once. My victory was short lived.

I've seen realm select a few times

I was just about to ask if anyone has been able to get in?
hahaha...

Maybe someone from Labcorp logged in and contaminated them with ransomware.

whatever is wrong must be real real bad, i haven't seen any sign of anyone saying they are in./

@Blizzardcs says that things are getting better!?

I briefly got in to the character select screen on one of my realms but then got disconnected. Ah well.....

Back up.. For now.

Looks like it was community mode borking things. which makes sense , I don't think that was really up much in beta

Did they change idle animations? I logged in tonight and my character is breathing so hard it looks like he’s going to pass out. His weapon doesn’t quite sync with the motion now, either. It stands almost still while the character grinds his back into it. Definitely didn’t look like that last night when I logged out.

I was able to get in and switch my lock over to Demonology.

That being said ...

1) I have no idea what I'm doing
2) I had to use an heirloom weapon because my awesome Affliction weapon wasn't going to cut it
3) Does anyone have a quick cheat sheet on what I'm supposed to be using as a rotation or what I should be focusing on as a Demonology spec?

I was able to get on quickly last night, hit some buttons, stuff died, I had to log off. That was the extent of my time as a new spec.

Icy veins has new guides prepped for all the new stuff. It was in a forum post linked from their front page yesterday, I'm not sure when it is supposed to be up as their main site stuff

Go to a server where you have an empty character slot.
Click on that slot and there should be an option to "try" a level 110 version of the warlock. It will allow you to run through a tutorial that explains the basics of the class spec(s)

Other than that, I would recommend creating an alt of a allied race demon lock and play that for a few levels to get a feel for the class.

Or just look up the recommended rotation from Icy Veins, Wowhead, or the Warlock discord channel.

Icy Veins has a quick-and-dirty spec/rotation page for each class combo. Recommended if you want to spend no more than 5 mins setting up a new toon.

So are artifact weapons now worthless for leveling to 110? I thought they would still be strong until 111 but I did notice a drop in Dps last night on my destro lock.

The iIvl is tied to the relics you put in them. If you do not get relics often to upgrade it then it won't scale well. I think from what I have seen for fresh artifact weapons user it will more than likely be better to use an Heirloom weapon to 110.

On my 110 who has mostly raid level relic in my weapon the dps was still very high 2-3 shoting normal mobs at 110 on argus.

So I pre-ordered Battle for Azeroth yesterday and now have the option to boost a character to 110. Just wondering how that works with regard to your equipment. Do I have to go out and buy new equipment, or does my current equipment scale to my new level?

I believe the boost will give you new equipment. According to Wowhead, the equipment was item level 885, but that was before the item squish.

Once you boost you should get items that are scaled to 110 in the mail I do believe. the current ilvl is something like 160 to 190 I think. 200+ with raid gear.

So I did the first part of the Burning of Teldrassil quest on my rogue and there are some interesting scaling inconsistencies. Mobs come in 2 fashions: ones that you can mop up in a few seconds and ones that take 5 plus seconds. It seems to also be the case with Silver champions. There are ones that take 20 seconds to kill and ones that take a minute or so. Also the unlocked portion of the quest is just a trickle.

That being said, so far I am really happy that the class changes held without a bunch of nerfs. The only downside I see is that some of these changes don't come forth fully until level 60, 70 or even 90+.

Take for instance the enhancement shaman. My highest is now 50. What I found to be the most critical talent was the one that let their heal become instant and cost maelstrom instead of mana if maelstrom is available. Well, it isn't a talent. It is a perk when you get the heal upgrade at level 66. Getting to level 66 is a long time even if you are already level 50 to go without what I consider a cornerstone of the fun of the class.

I was also expecting more from the release of the pre-patch. We got the class changes which are fantastic. We got (or not) the communities. (I am having Asheron's Call 2 flashbacks) . And we got the PVP flag and talents.

Did I mention how good the class changes are? I have only confirmed the rogue (assassination), warlock (destruction), hunter (survival) and shaman (enhancement) changes are still there and still a blast.

It feels like a bit of a shame that there isnt a new talent tier. With all the various new talents from legion legendaries/artifact, it easily could have had a new one. For most of the classes I've got through the respec process on so far (takes quite some time...), getting room for the nice legendary item talents seems fairly difficult, at least without giving up another main-stay of the spec.
At least my primary character, fire mage, seems to have reasonable room for two of my favorite legendaries; scorch boost and pyroblast boost. But no room for the old artifact skill. Which feels like quite the loss for a spec which doesn't exactly have a lot of buttons to begin with.

I feel the same way with beastmaster hunter. I now have to choose between a second pet and dire beast :-/

Whoa. As much as I liked having two pets this time, I'm cool with just one (unless it's a big DPS loss, that is).

Everyone loves Wrath so much they brought it back!*

(* just the i-lvl and not the rest of the stuff that made Wrath so good)

P.S. Boosted toons do come with gear that's good enough for now. And speaking of gear, if you're looking for relics, Argus might be your best bet unless you get lucky in a raid. If you grind out 650 Agrus shards, you can buy a relic (formerly i910; I'm not sure what it is now) that has a chance of proc-ing for 10 or 20 i-lvls beyond that.

Would prefer to have two pets in my BM build too. It sounds like the current talent is underpowered though.

If only.

The two pets talent tends to be a dps loss do to the pet travel times. It is not a game changing loss so if you like two pets then use the talent.

The death knight unholy spec seemed to fix the 2nd pet dps issues. I'm not sure how much the first pet does but the extra pet with the bow definitely takes chunks of enemy health when it attacks.
My unholy DK is cruising through Broken Isles content at level 104 or 105. It is very fun!

I really can't wait to finish confirming all the class changes. Hopefully there are some pleasant surprises with the classes/specs I found dull in beta.

I'm glad to be back as 1 pet for BM, Hated running round dungeons feeling like I needed a 'wide load' sign. Sure you can manage them through, but is that actually fun?

The first talent in that rows pretty good IMHO.

I like the BM changes, it's a tweak but a tweak in the right direction. Slightly more complex (managing stacks etc) but still is what it's supposed to be (fairly accessible, great mobility).

Good for old blokes with crap reaction time (like me)

Druids are kinda borked right now. There are a ton of skills that aren't supposed to kick you out of cat, bear or moonkin, are kicking you into caster form.

Ret Paladins are as much fun as they were in beta.

My 104 fury warrior is even more fun than the stock 110 one I played in beta.

The damage demon hunter is as fun or even moreso than in beta.

They just streamlined them. I don't understand why they gave them the taunt ability. Unless it does something in pvp there's never anything i want to taunt while in havoc specialization.

Yeah I just noticed that. What an odd choice. I am bummed too that immolation aura is on a 30 sec cooldown too. I haven't checked if that is the same for Vengeance.
