Path of Exile catch-all

What are people trying in the new league? I'm trying to decide between Righteous Fire and Flicker Strike. The RF Chieftain build looks fun. I have a juggernaut in standard that I may respec as RF just to try it out. I have never tried any bow shooty type build or any spell/summon builds. Any recommendations on cheap scaling builds of those types that can at least do red maps?

I'm wanting to try an RF build, but every time i start i end up with gear that totally changing my focus.

Just started playing and I'm in love with this game. So much more complex than D3!

How do I get a guild invite? My witch is 'Kokoe Butter' in game.

If your name is "Kokoe", I invited you. No spaces allowed in names...

I'm going to dip my toes in again. I think I'm going to try a homemade build with the new Incinerate and watch it probably suck.

Im not good with understanding builds just yet. Just want a easy class/skill build. Thats not heavily dependent on unique gear and such.

Yeah that's the way to go when you're brand new. Otherwise you'll likely get overwhelmed with all the possibilities. I've played the game enough times at this point to have a cursory idea of what passives and skills I want to use, though I've never actually done my own build before so I will probably screw something up.

The changes to Power Siphon look like the skill will be much more fun to play this league. I am planning on either Shadow (assassin) or Scion (elementalist/deadeye).

If you want a fun bow shooty and summon build at the same time you cannot go wrong with blink/mirror arrow, it is a blast to play:

What would you say are the general principles for Shadow characters?

That is a tough question as Shadow has a broad spectrum of play styles that can work well. If I were to break them down to the main three playstyles they would be:

Trappers which look to have quality of life improved greatly this league. This includes both traps and mines, playstyle is more of a drop trap and keep moving mentality.

Damage over time builds. This works as a caster with essence drain and contagion or as a fast attacker (ranged or melee) stacking poison as fast as possible.

Critical hit focused. This playstyle can be about getting the largest damaging crits possible either with spells or attacks. Or focusing on a Cast on Crit setup getting crits as often as possible and letting the triggered spells do the actual damage.

Hope that helps as a general overview.

Thanks! I was thinking DoT but the Trap gameplay does seem fun.

If you end up with a Quill Rain bow (level 5) doing DoT build is amazing due to the super high fire rate.

Poison fast attack, Ranalin? What do you build around it?

Thanks for the link Arovin! The Necromancer version of that build looks pretty good. I think I might give it a try. My only concern is if I'll be able to get it through the labyrinth with my old man dodging skills.

That is the best part, Blink arrow is also a movement skill, useful for getting out of the way!

I tried to do this but died 3 times before I really got going. I'll probably give it another shot later in this league if the damage is good enough for the late game Incursions.

Power Siphon was something I was looking to play but I am disappointed. It seems they kept the nerfs to the range of Vaal Power Siphon and the new cooldown systems on vaal skills sucks the fun out of them quite a bit, even though I understand why they implemented it.
The problem is that even GGG admits that with the buffs to it it's still an inferior skill to Kinetic Blast and Barrage so... Oh yeah, and from the 1 screenshot, it seems like they ruined its visuals.

Barrage, added poison, chaos damage, vile toxins. but unless Bestiary is still in play it may not be that powerful anymore because there were gloves that ramped up the damage to 11. Still even without that it was fun to play with. The fire rate of the bow is insanely fast and makes up for the low damage it has and the DoTs applied made things die super quick.

Yeah, I've used the bow for leveling before, but never as a focus. It's a fun idea. Thanks for the insight!

Is there a GWJ guild?

What would be strong, fun summoner build, with low gear dependence, for this season?

Can I get an invite to the GWJ guild? Current character name is Koz_FlameOn.

Invite incoming.

Can I get an invite? Name is FeelsMoreLikeSNDthanADS.

Invite here as well, please.

ArovinSiphon

I'd like an invite too please.

Laurel_Not_Yanny

I'll see if I can push out a few people who have not logged in in months. We're low on slots at the moment. Donations to the guild welcome.

Invites sent.

Yeah Agreed, after playing with it for a while last night, the visuals just make it feel not as fun as it could be. I don't think I will stick with it and am back to the drawing board in terms of build planning.

Maybe a herald bomber or something with Stormcall.

Having fun with my baby Trap build, first one I've tried, so... Thanks Arovin!

If I can ever get strong and fast enough to complete incursions, I think the temple building mechanic is gold Jerry, gold!
