The Elder Scrolls Online Catch-All

It was only a 10GB update for me. And yeah, from past experience, I'm going to give it a week or so before I go for the new stuff

Those kind of... Issues.. were what gave ESO such a bad rep way back in beta.

Just some useless junk!

Wanted to jump in for quick sesh earlier tonight, saw the epic download at 7mb/sec.. Fired up The Witcher 3 to kill the rest of my evening.

I got a couple hours in across two sessions last night. Lots of people around, but had no issues logging in and questing. The new zone is very pretty, of course. I saw a few people in zone chat complaining that it's too small for an expansion, but I don't really have a sense for that myself yet. I did one delve and for some reason it didn't get marked as completed. There have also been some hitches during the game that don't seem to correspond to number of players running around. But generally it's looking good to me and I'm looking forward to playing more.

And the main Summerset storyline is done. Yeah, I know I said I was going to leave it a bit, but I found that once I'd got a little way into the storyline things got less crowded. Not going to comment at all on the story or quests at this point as most people won't have finished.

I still have some minor quests and stuff like visiting all map locations and ranking up the Psijic skill line to be getting on with.

So guys, I'm thinking of getting back into ESO. If I buy Summerset right now, does it still come with Morrowind?

It certainly does!

Also, I'm looking for a guild to join - it's lonely soloing everything. Are there any GWJ guilds in ESO out there?

Until June 13th according to the Zenimax store page.

I don't know of any GWJ guild that is active (also depends if you're NA or EU, I believe). I get by with a friend list, but still play a lot of the game solo.

Thanks y'all!

I got the Summerset Grand Adventurer achievement this evening, and the map looks fully explored barring dolmens (and Cloudrest, which I set foot in but obviously can't finish without 11 obsessives).

A good quality expansion, perhaps on the short side. What's left I think is repeatables and levelling the psijic line. Oh and jewellery crafting, but that's low priority for me.

You still can’t sell things unless in a guild though, right? That’s one aspect of the game I didn’t love.

You can be in up to 5 guilds at once. What many do is join at least one trading focused guild with a vendor and another for dungeons and group content etc.

So guys, I wanna start a new battlemage style character. Heavy casting with melee as backup. Any suggestions, please?

Is there a new class with the expansion? Thinking about getting back into this to scratch that pvp itch.

Not a full new class, but there is a new Psijic magic skill line, that involves manipulating time.

Veloxi, I don't have too much specific class advice, as I play a pure caster, using magicka abilities. At level 15 you'll gain the ability to equip two weapons and switch between them, so you could start with using destruction staves to gain some elemental abilities, then add in a stamina based melee weapon at level 15. I'm sure there are build guides available out there that can help. Staves do damage based on your magicka attribute, while most (all?) other melee weapons do damage based on your stamina attribute. There's probably an argument to be made that splitting your attributes between magicka and stamina could be inefficient, but again, there are probably build guides out there that have better info.

That kind of character, easy to pull off in Skyrim, supposedly isn't so easy in ESO because of the way the classes and stats work. Conventional wisdom is that you want to go either all stamina (bow/dual wield/greatsword) or all magicka (staves); hybrids underperform. I don't have a ton of build experience, but here's some ideas.

You could consider a stamina sorcerer, which takes the sorcerer class but uses a bow plus either dual wield or greatsword. I've been maining stam sorc and it's great for soloing content and works in groups too. Trouble is that's primarily melee with some spellcasting thrown in, whereas it sounds like you want to use magic attacks mostly.

IIRC magicka deathknight and magicka templar use magic attacks but mostly in melee range. Magicka nightblade might be a good option, you can run it with two staves, but there are still some abilities like impale that will have you throwing daggers etc.

I found these sites good for builds, mostly dungeon and raid focussed but it still gives an idea of how builds for each class tend to look:

Hahaha, Beamplar, that's great. I might go for that one. Thank you!

Actually, scratch that, I'mma do this one:

I've been thinking about trying this out, whats the best/cheapest point of entry? I have access to ps4 and PC. It seems right now I can pick up Morrowind and base game for 10 bucks on ps4, not sure about pc. How is it on ps4 vs pc?

There have been a few different editions of the game in the past, some being base game only (Tamriel Unlimited) and the Gold Edition including the first four dlc. I'm not sure if that's still available, in the past Green Man Gaming has had keys for £10. The Summerset Standard Edition (not the upgrade as that assumes you already have the base game) if bought before June 13th, should include the base game, plus both Summerset and Morrowind (but not the dlc). So it might make sense to just go with that as it's the most recent content.

I think most of us play on PC, as far as I know there is no cross-play with consoles, the other major difference being that PC can use third party add-ons (e.g. to change the UI, or add locations to the maps) which are really handy. The game servers are also split between EU and NA, with store purchases not transferring between the two. The EU servers are a bit flaky.

It was part of a humble monthly, ask in that section if a key is still available ?

Good idea

Well, I made a new toon higher level than my previous one.

It's a Khanjit, level 5 healer. (Level 8 skills, I mix the 2.)

Any goodjers guild, or recommended for goodjers ? I'm on PC.

Thanks.

I invited @Manach to the guild hopefully that was you.

I'd like to be in the guild too please. My account is @Veloxi.

Veloxi looks like you were already in the guild. I added @ManachGWJ!

Thanks!

Please add me too: @Maclintok (I think). I originally joined a work clan but it’s dead and lame.

I’m always astounded at the amount of writing in ESO and that it’s all voiced pretty well.

Last night I did a short quest in Balmora for a dying father trying to make amends with his two estranged kids. It wasn’t high art or peak games writing but it was such a simply told vignette that hit it’s mark for me.

I’ll take more of these kind of tales over any overblown pap Bungie or post-ME2 Bioware can come up with.

Done!

Also remember you can be in 5 guilds at the same time.

So I was in the guild already. Yay!

And my God you guys, this pure Magicka caster is soooooo what I wanted. Lots of fun spells and healing! I'm totally gonna reup my subscription because now I'm having a blast. Thank you.
