2018 NBA Catch-All - LeBron Fallout Edition

Yeah I thought it was a goal tend when I saw it since I always thought if it touches the backboard first then it is a goal tend, but that makes up for the missed call on the out-of-bounds ball immediately before that gave the Pacers the ball in the first place. Cancelled each other out so not a big deal in my mind.

And I agree, I wish the first round would go back to five game series. Would make the playoffs more exciting.

Goaltend, according to the last two minute report.

It is not the first time he has gotten away with it either...
So if it is a Bang Bang play then I'd err on the side of goaltend.

It was definitely a goaltend. Can't touch the ball after it touches backboard. It's what made his block on Iguodala in the 2016 Finals so crazy, that he managed to cleanly block it after being so far behind.

Yeah. To me it's still one of the single most astounding plays in Finals history. The margin for error is literally nanoseconds. Maybe it's even luck, really.

Well I didn't catch much of the Pacers game tonight but what I did was fun.

Now go Jazz.

Oh no, Rubio out and will not return tonight.

That Raptors game was pretty awesome. Trailed but kept it close and got the feeling that they were just trying to wear out Wall and Beal. Played the bench for almost the entire 4th. Fred Vanvleet* coming back is a major turning point as he's tenacious with a deadly 3 and aggressive defence. Allows the Raptors to play 3 PGs when Lowry subs in and it's a match-up nightmare.

I am very impressed with Casey this year. He lack any creativity and ability to instill a modern NBA offense that what he was able to get the players to do this year is remarkable. Is fully willing to play any of his 12 regulars depending on how a particular game is going. Showed versatility that I had no idea he had.

*If you don't know who FvV is, look him up. Undrafted signee last year that made the team as the final guy on the roster. Is under 6' but, like Lowry, plays far bigger. Is the leader of the Raptors Bench Mob and frequently closes out the 4th quarter with the starters...err DeRozan, Lowry, and a combination of others.

So excited for the Jazz. Mitchell is incredible. A well earned victory. Sorry, Fed, but Go Jazz!

Jesus. 43 shots for Westbrook? KD's exit makes more sense to me every year.

I didn't see the game, but I see George sh*t 2 of 16. Carmelo, 3 of 7. I guess Russ didn't get much help.

Still, this makes me wonder what PG will do. Seems like the fit in Philly would be much better. But that doesn't fit his narrative, I guess. I could see him making the Lakers a playoff team, but not contenders. Should be an interesting off-season.

If you’re Philly, wouldn’t you consider not bringing in one of these superstar guys and risking what you have already? In three years they might have two top-5 guys.

That 3rd quarter for Donovan was a thing of beauty. 8-10, 22 points. Wow.

I'm thinking about viewing it again on WatchESPN today.

I've watched almost no NBA this year but I got off work late and caught Jazz-OKC and omg Donovan Mitchell is every bit as amazing as people say he is.

That’s about right. They need a cheaper, better stretch 4 than Melo. And they need a coach willing to convince Russ that he should trust his teammates. And they need better teammates around Russ.

Also the Jazz played really hard and Donovan Mitchell is really difficult to guard. Especially when he gets a running start.

In the end, though, we should have seen this coming. OKC’s flaws have been there all season. And Utah climbed out of a deep hole and were a much better team than their record indicated at the end of the season.

Yeah pretty much.
Joe Ingles played really well too.
The Jazz Rockets series is gonna be good.

At the risk of sounding hot take-ish, I don't really see PG as a superstar. I think he's the optimal 3 and D guy, and does better when he doesn't need to create much for himself. It would require him to accept that role, which is why I don't think he would sign there.

I think there is a middle ground. He is not a top 5 or top 10 guy, but he is more than a 3 & D guy.

As for Philly, it all hinges on Embiid. That would scare the crap out of me, TBH, with his injury history for a guy his size. I understand accelerating The Process before he breaks again.

Playoff Warriors: activated.

We're all pretty much screwed.

They looked incredible in game 1 of the Spurs series and looked mortal by game 5. I don't see anyone in the east challenging them, but the Rockets might.

What about the Jazz? They destroyed them just a couple weeks ago. And beat them solidly a couple weeks before that. Granted, that was without Curry, but still those are big margins.

They might take a game or even two but I don't see it beyond that. Too much shooting for Gobert to handle, too many plus defenders to throw at Donovan. And as boring as they are I don't see Houston losing to Utah.

The Warriors didn’t care about the regular season. They were checked out.

I've avoided watching the Rockets this year mostly, and I'd forgotten that their court is such an eyesore.

Pretty much this. I don't think that the regular season means jack here. They'll probably perform a gentleman's sweep oh the Rockets and then eat the East for breakfast.

It's all good, baby.

Spoiler:

Especially since Houston punked Utah so hard yesterday.

Wouldn't get too cocky about beating a team on ~36 hours of rest. Better see how game 2 goes first.

Hey, never wait to celebrate. Tomorrow isn't promised. Yesterday's win was awesome. We'll see what happens next!
