Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr (Catch All)

I'm on the third level as a sniper. I might be in love.

Really need to get used to the cover system, though.

Pushing this game out to June makes it WAY more likely that I will buy. I feel like there are so many games outg right now.

Yeah, I'm in love. 3 hours lost tonight.

It’s good, right? The Sniper has been the most fun but I was really enjoying a Crusader with melee too. The cover system isn’t necessary with that set-up, though.

It really could use the extra three weeks. These next bit is a very busy time for games and me and I haven’t even touched the AC: Origins expansion.

Hype simmering!

IS VERY GOOD. Right now I'm a level 4 sniper with a nice sniper rifle and two one-handed swords, and I am LOVING IT.

I'm still getting used to the cover mechanic, but it's fairly different from other APRGs, so I'm not surprised. I misread the text and thought I had to both hold down the right button AND toggle it, for some reason. Ugh.

Oh, also, question about the starmap. Is that where you go to other systems and planets to do random missions? If so, I LOVE IT.

Yes, it’s not clear but on the bottom menu in the Star Map there is a button that (I think second last on the right) that states a systems. Click that and it bumps you out another layer. All side-missions are procedurally generated.

I’m debating whether I wait until release or give the next patch a try. BattleTech should be taking up most my time by then, however.

There is something in the options where you change entering cover from having to hold down the enter cover button to toggle in and out of cover.

Also, based on my limited play time that the subclasses converge somewhat (call it around 50% overlap).

EEEEEEEE

Yeah, this is what I misread, that it was one OR the other, I misread it as both.

OMG this game has weekly, procedurally-generated mini-campaigns?!?! I think my heart just grew three more sizes for it.

I watched some videos and I'm really interested but, for some reason, the 49.99 price point is holding me back when I could just reinstall Path of Exile for free or get the most recent Diablo expansion for 14.99. Does this game feel significantly different from those other games to warrant hopping in now or is it just a Warhammer skin on those games?

Yeah, it definitely feels different. It's slower and more tactical than something like POE, you're also a bit more limited to skills, since you can only bring two weapons, and your skills are tied to those weapons. I never feel like I'm limited for options though, as all attacks and skills, so far, have been a lot of fun.

It also has so much Warhammer flavor it's silly. Like, lots of lore, and neat mission types. There's a lot of killing, but sometimes you have to save a company of space marines, or retrieve some relics. There's just so much to do. I can't get enough of it.

We'll just chalk this up to yet another game either Veloxi or his podcast has caused me to buy. I played it for a few hours last night and just got a few missions past unlocking the hub where you have your store, map and storage. I'm really enjoying it so far and I'm already looking forward to playing it more. I tried a few of the class/subclass combos for a few minute before settling on a Crusader-Tactical character purely for the way the autogun feels. Now that I'm a bit further in I feel a bit silly worrying about what expertise I chose because those subclass skills can be changed on a whim just by equipping different armor or weapons. Eh, live and learn. At least that means if I want to try it all I only have to play 3 characters so far.

I ran into an audio bug early on where only music would play and all voices and sound effects were muted. Luckily a quick restart of the game fixed it. I also love that during some cutscenes they'll switch to in-game rendered animations with "Placeholder Animation" stamped down in the bottom corner. So while they keep pointing out that this is supposed to be an alpha build the core game has actually felt pretty solid aside. I have no idea why I decided to pay $50 for this but so far I'm not regretting it.

Yaaayyyyyyyy!

I think the main differences with the sub classes are what passive skill trees are accessed and the bonuses from the three stats.

That would make sense. I'm definitely still figuring things out. So far I've put all my points into ranged combat bonuses and I'm sure that's going to funnel me in a particular direction as the game progresses. I find it interesting that a couple of the classes specialize in stealth. Unless things are really different in co-op matches I'm not sure I see the benefit. Though I guess it could also be PvP focused but I have a feeling any PvP features for this game aren't going to be a big draw for me. I've never liked PvP in ARPGs.

I reeeally hope this plays and performs well on console

My PC with a 2009-era CPU and 2013-era GPU is likely less powerful than modern-day consoles, and besides the loading times here and there, it runs great in the missions themselves.

Ran into my first serious bugs tonight. With the Assassin, the worst bug was a loss of some sound, which just required a restart.

Today, I decided to try a Psyker. Things we're going well until I couldn't activate a Cogitator to open the last door to the level. Switching to keyboard worked though, and I reported the bug.

Then an even bigger bug with a Crusader. Twice the game half-froze on me. I was able to turn the camera and what not, but nothing else. Still gotta report that bug.

It was nice to see so many bugs dealt with in their bug tracking tool as well. Can't wait for beta, but for now I'll keep going with my Assassin.

This game has gotten me into Warhammer lore too. Just bought the Eisenhorn trilogy. Can't wait to read it.

Eisenhorn is dope. I’ve also enjoyed Ben Counter’s stuff like Grey Knights and Soul Drinker

I'm lookiing forward to it. I also got Caphias Cain: Hero of the Imperium. I'm told they're both great entry books.

Just keep in mind the only immutable cannon with games workshop is maximizing revenue.

Gesundheit Workshop only cares about money.

I assume he means there's a ton of crap books out there.

Edit: I'm leaving that autocorrect in there.

Oh, yeah, I don't plan on reading EVERY book. That's madness.

I unlocked the heavy flamer last night. Yep. That is now my second weapon along with the autogun. I like that they trickle in new weapons as I level up as it really gives me time to try them all out rather than having a hundred different options thrown at me right from the start. I briefly tried out a greatsword but found I was always within a hair's breadth of dying so I switched back to my autogun and it was back to smooth sailing.

Huh, I never noticed weapon were gated.

When your class level goes up it indicates what new stuff is available; I have not been sure if that is for gear drops in general, end of mission boxes, or crafting.

As an aside I enjoy the melee assassin, I play it as more of a hit and run to first whitle down regular baddies before going after boss types. I do equip the damage absorb shield in my grenade slot and prefer the armour with the slow field over stealth.

Yeah, even though I chose a sniper initially, I'm finding it super fun to take some enemies at range, then slice and dice through the rest.

or control an imperial knight!
