2018 NBA Catch-All - LeBron Fallout Edition

I have no problem with Westbrook getting MVP last year for averaging a triple double. It hadn't been done in decades. I don't think he should get it this year because there are better candidates and his team has under performed.

I don't think many people would say Harden is a better player than James, but MVP isn't about who is the better player and it is hard to just ignore how checked out James was for a good chunk of the season.

Quitting on defense to get IT traded wasn’t a sterling moment in his career.

We could take about rookie of the year. But since Ben Simmons isn't really a rookie it's a one man race and Donovan Mitchell wins.

This is another astoundingly bad take as Simmons didn't play an NBA game before this year and is by definition a rookie.
You are summer league fool of the year as voted on by 100% of boogles.

Boys its the playoffs and the bad take police is here

Simmons was under contract and paid last season. He's no longer a rookie. Done.

In no other sport is that how this works.

I'm really looking forward to LeBron James, and him alone, eliminating the Raptors in the second round. Ugh.

Cept that aint the rule slick

In the National Basketball Association, a rookie is any player who has never played a game in the NBA until that year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rookie

LOOK IT UP SUMMER LEAGUE I AINT HEARING IT

Simmons is a rookie, but he definitely benefited from being immersed in the NBA last year with getting used to the routine, travel, film study, offensive and defensive systems, etc. He definitely has a leg up on the other 'true' rookies from this year, so it is a bit unfair to compare.

By this definition, anyone called up from the G-League or any of the international leagues cannot be an NBA rookie.

So, nope.

And if rookie of the year awards mattered in the standings, then it might actually matter who is eligible.

What the hell? International leagues have nothing to do with the NBA. European players have been drafted and had rookie NBA seasons no problem.

Simmons was in the NBA last year, not Spain or something. He's a 2nd year player now.

Blake Griffin won it after sitting out his first season, and he played preseason games, too. It was unanimous, too.

So it's not exactly a new thing.

It's not going to matter until a Louisville player is up for the award after sitting out his first season.

Stele, are you arguing what it should be or what it is? The former you have a pulpit. The later? You are just incorrect.

Embiid was eligible last season. The only reason he did not win it over Brogdon and finished 3rd in the voting was he played so few games, not because he was a 3rd year player. This is from the NBA's own site:

Some people just hate Philly that much. I get that

Toronto needs to get past a healthy, underseeded Washington first. I think they will, but their path to the ECF stinks.

Thanks to the FBI, that's going to take a while.

I was at the last game against the Rangers and the place was on fire. Coming out and laying a total stinker in game 1 was pretty deflating. Trying to keep this title town momentum going!!

Woo, Raptors didn't lose Game One.

So the leaky roof wasn't a bad omen after all.

Because they played like it was game 7.

Fun crowd too. I mostly tuned in for the 4th quarter run, but wow.

Trust the process

The Raptors have an extremely energetic crowd.

I’m sure it’ll get annoying but Drake being on the sidelines is hilarious to me.

It's hilarious because he stands about 2 feet from the coach the whole game. Is he basically an assistant coach?

I’m not sure if he’s still employed but he was the brand ambassador. He’ll occasionally jump in for some play-by-play, mock the other team, and celebrate with the players after the game. Sometimes mimics Casey and I don’t think it’s on purpose.

I think you might be lost.

You might find what you are looking for here.

Yeah, Philly looked good last night

At least one road team won. Almost a boring day.

Bucks Celtics was fun at least. Didn’t care for the outcome, but enjoyed the ride.
