PSA, their three albums are free to download.

Nice

New Beach House and Wye Oak albums out soon.

A new and slightly better Phil Collins:

I'm a fan of the recent Let's Eat Grandma songs:

Also some new Father John Misty is out and it is pretty good:

It's rare that a poppy edm track, especially if hasn't any strong DnB roots, will worm it's way right into my earhole... this did and has been stuck there for months...

The following is previously unseen rehearsal footage of Prince & The Revolution from the summer of 1984.

It was in this very room at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota that Prince created and committed to tape one of his most beloved and iconic compositions, which six years later would become a worldwide hit for Sinead O’Connor.

Prince’s original studio version of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ is presented here for the first time.

Rats, first song released from the new Ghost album.

The new Dr Octagon is great. The album has no curse words, so it doesn’t carry the explicit tag, but it is dirty as hell. NSFW.

Check out this guitar solo in the outro. Could it be Buckethead?

This is the guitar track that I meant to post. The production is incredible. Qbert (I think) and Automator go off on the outro, and then an even better Buckethead (I think) guitar solo.

Here's a video of the first live performance of Purple Rain. This performance at a Minneapolis club was recorded using the best mobile studio available at the time and was edited down (with a few minor additions) to create the single. The final three songs on the album were recorded at this show. Prince and the band were on fire that night!

Videos are geoblocked, but album is available on Spotify. IP rights are weird. It's been ages since I last listened to Dr Octagon, gotta give it a go!

I feel bad posting this because it's total trash. But I've also been listening to it on repeat for the last week. So you might like it or I must just be horrible.

A week from today Tanya Donelly and her band, Belly, are releasing their first new album in 23 years, Dove. The full album is currently up on NPR First Listen. I listened to it twice yesterday at work and I'm really enjoying it. Here's a embedded youtube vid of one of the songs for those who don't want to click through a link.

And for those willing to click through a link, while you're at NPR check out the Superorganism Tiny Desk Concert. It's amazing. I love them at least 5 times more after watching this.

(Also, Janelle Monae's album is out today and it's great!)

Buy? What is this word, buy? I just pay $10 a month to apple and I get to listen to every song ever recorded whenever and wherever I want.

I don't do any of the streaming services.

I pay for Google Music *and* buy albums when they're deserving (And Dirty Computer is very much deserving).

Yep. I sprung for Youtube Red which gives you Google Play as part of the package and I'm just getting used to the fact that I can upon hearing about a band just bring up their music at will. But for the car and at work, I'm still using my ipod classic so I buy the stuff I want on there.

I streamed Dirty Computer via my phone to my home stereo earlier today, and I have to say... It’s quite dirty.

Please tell me. Besides being dirty, what do y’alls like about that album?

I think it's Janelle's most accessible album to date, which accounts for some of the immediate "Wow!" responses. As for the explicitness of the lyrics, it comes from both her anger and her sexually. And I feel it's empowering . She's attacking a culture that caused the Me Too movement to arise, and flipping some gender roles in rap/r&b as well*. Instead of "Female Doggoes and power" that the stereotypical male rap stars have sung about in the past, here Janelle is saying; I'm the Female Doggo and I've got the power. Deal with it or get out.

Spoiler:

We gon' start a motherf*ckin' p*ssy riot
Or we gon' have to put 'em on a p*ssy diet
Look at that, I guarantee I got 'em quiet

* I'm not saying she's the first to reverse roles in rap/r&b, but it's great to see the trend continue.

Congratulations on finding a way to access an artist's work while financially supporting the artist as little as physically possible?

I don’t make the rules, or the pricing policies. I don’t think that I should be taken to task for following them. There’s an extremely popular Netflix thread on these forums. Are you going to formally chastise them as well?
