The GWJ CRPG Club - Part 1 - Old Thread

I tried playing U7 from the GOG version, and while I’ll admit they at least made it viable to play on a modern machine, I also have to admit it doesn’t hold up well. I’m sure the story and gameplay in general likely would, but the technical look and feel was just really hard to get past, even with massive nostalgia at hand. Maybe with the right mindset it would be better, but I went in really trying to re-love it and couldn’t quite do it honestly. Maybe my mood was off at the time, I’d be willing to give it another shot, but with the above list, I’m willing to try to finish something from closer to this millennium and wait for someone to do an HD remaster (or at least gameplay/mechanic cleanup) of U7.

Not trying to detract from it, it was an amazing game that I think REALLY deserves to get a facelift! Feel free to tell me how wrong I am so that I can try again, I want to be wrong!

I'm like a kid waiting on a birthday to see what is up next.

I’ll nominate Vampire the Masquerade

Looking forward to voting!

Redemption or Bloodlines?

I'll second Bloodlines for you, which I'm assuming is the one you meant

Thanks JohnKillo and Pyxistyx it was bloodlines I was nominating.

Just a quick update...

Slight delay in the voting start. I'm swamped at work at the moment. I'll update everything and start voting in about 4 hours.

My apologies!

I would have lifted my pitchfork. But I do not yet have the strength.

Baldur’s Gate EE

Still haven't made much progress on Shadowrun: Dragonfall. I don't see life allowing the next round to go any better, so I'll abstain from voting in favor of people who will likely be much more actively playing.

Still, were I to vote, the votes would go to Jade Empire, Wasteland 2 and Vampire Bloodlines.
I want to like Planescape: Torment, but have bounced off of it three times already, always 2 hours in or less.

Wasteland 2
Vampire: Bloodlines
Baldurs Gate: EE

In case it helps, we did decide to run each game for six months, so Dragonfall will still be "active" until the end of June. That probably doesn't make your life any less busy, but in case things free up later for you Dragonfall will still be up for a while.

Baldur's Gate continues to lead. Vampire rises from the dead, and joins Pillars of Eternity and Planescape to nip at Baldur's Gate's heels. Avernum stumbles. Wasteland 2 shows signs of life. Jade Empire and Ultima fill out the field. Icewind Dale appears to have frozen in the gate.
