Buying Zero Games in 2018 (Or One or Two, I'm Not the Boss of You)

Reporting in for a falling-off of the wagon - I bought Into The Breach.

Still super happy with my discipline so far this year, though.

I'm thinking about making a purchase soon just to break my streak. I know I am going to be buying Dark Souls in a few months, and breaking a two month streak doesn't feel as bad as a four month streak.

I’m kind of glad I’m super busy today. I think I would have totally fallen off the wagon and bought into the breach if I didn’t have zero time to play it

Welp, I did it. I bought the expansion to Guild Wars 2. It felt good too.

Am I still even a gamer? Or am I just a man with a job? I'm going to fix my install of JA2v1.13 and find out. Or maybe finish the XCOM from 2012. I just didn't finish the end battle. (I think it's the end battle.)

Also, "Into the Breach" has a good old school thrash sound to it.

I think you’re still a gamer. I’m playing Fez on Vita and Valkyria Chronicles on PSP. Gamer with a job here.

I still haven't bought anything this year, but thanks to Zelda: BOTW, I also haven't made much of a dent in my backlog. I still think I will -- I played nothing but Witcher games for 4 straight months last year and still went through ~25 games overall -- but it hasn't been a promising start to the year.

Reporting in: two months down, still going strong.

This week's been super-busy for me; my game time has been limited to keeping up with the forum and sneaking in a quest or two in Monster Hunter 4U at bed time.

I'm looking forward to some chill time this weekend with Final Fantasy XII.

I just added "Into the Breach" into the "Your Shopping Cart" on Steam. My hand was hovering over the Purchase For Myself button but I stopped myself and told myself to post here and wait 24 hours. We'll see.

My son and I "rediscovered" Torchlight 2 (with the Synergies Mod). We are currently just 20th after 5 hours of play. It's nice, he's now old enough to do the math and feel the excitement of upgrades.

It's a great game for just making a mess of the screen and laughing maniacally as the dust settles.

So, I'd say to you all, but to jr specifically, do you have anything you might be able to breathe new life into, or share multiplayer with someone to see a new facet?

I'm still playing No Man's Sky, Path of Exile, and Final Fantasy Tactics on my piles. No purchases!

Tons! I'm genuinely excited every-time I play GTA V. Planet Coaster, Vampire the Masquerade, and Oxygen Not Included are all installed, and never really played by me yet. I 100% do not need another game.

I almost hit the wall with Dragon Age Inquisition, and then hit a new story beat and am back in 100%. Still no new purchases with nothing on the horizon.

I'm looking ahead, trying to figure out what threats are on the horizon. I also have Endless Legend, and while I played one easy game, I didn't quite "grok" it, yet. I'm a big fan of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Master of Magic, and Master of Orion 2, and was hoping for something similar. Damn! Endless Legend has a lot of moving parts!

I did try to play the first Freedom Force (2002, I think) and was having mouse interface issues. Then I checked out Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich (2003, I think). The controller worked as expected, but it was just a fussy interface. I might visit it again, but it wasn't *fun*.

The main threats for me are Dark Souls for Switch and Valkyria Chronicles. But I haven't finished Valkyria Chronicles 1 and I'd still like to finish Zelda. So I think I'm okay for now. A new classic Fire Emblem would definitely do me in. That or a Virtual Console version of the Gamecube Fire Emblem game.

There is a Necromunda game! It is supposed to be out in 2018 and i already bought the games I planned to buy back in 2017 so I cannot just swap this in for another game. I already skipped Into the breach but this may be too much. If this game turns out to be good I may need to acquire a panic button.

If the new smash is just a port of the Wii U version, which I own, I should be able to resist it. But if it’s a completely new smash game? That’ll probably do it for me. Still if I can make it till November or December without buying a single game I’ll count that as a win

Getting a Switch is becoming more tempting but I'm feeling strong.

Now that you've been able to hold out for this long you may as well wait for the second iteration of the hardware.

Does buying an SNES classic count?

My local BB has them in stock and I want to go scoop one up.

Are you going to wait until next year to open it?

I bought a copy of Ultima VI on SNES for my collection but other than that I’ve been really enjoying just playing what I have. Only other game I’m going to buy this year is Budget Cuts.

I bought an arcade cabinet but since the game is yet to work Im counting it as furniture for now

Yes, yes it does.

Days without a video game purchase: 0.

Made it 74 days!

Is that different from adding it to a Steam pile, or buying a cartridge on discount for an SNES that needs a new power supply?

That being said, right now, a MAME setup COULD be *my* downfall! To "Final Fight" with my son as my side...

A new challenge has arrived. STORY OF SEASONS: Trio of Towns is on sale, one of my wish list games. Can probably wait until the next sale though...

Sounds rubbish.

(did I help?)

Haha, sorry, I researched it enough to know that it would be right up my alley. However, I put a huge number of hours into Rune Factory 4 last year so I can probably survive without it. Plus, it's not the first time it's been on sale (although the first time it's been 50% off), so I probably will have another chance later.
