Surviving Mars Catch All - Sci Fi Colony Builder from Tropico devs

As this is being released on consoles at the same time do you think DLC might be different from the Paradox norm?

Not that I really know what that is, not playing games on PC and all. Some of the internet are angry with them some of the time about something or other?

Sean and I played a game from scratch together. If you want a good sense of what the flow is like this is a good primer.

Nice video. You and Sean are always great to listen to. It triggered me to actually buy the game, not that I was not even not going to buy it, I was just reminded me that hey this is coming out on Thursday.

I think that, despite some reservations, I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on this one. I read somewhere that they're committed to good mod support too, which should balance out the fact I don't really feel like buying a tonne of DLC.

Note that if you buy the big fancy edition, you get a promise of two major and two minor DLCs in the next year. So it's not really that ambiguous, and as usual, the big gameplay *changes* will be free; it's the new content that you're paying for.

It was funny to see the Shauns (third totally-inappropriate spelling, cause there's no common spelling) commenting on the Brussels Sprout after having just learned that quill18 was the reason for the Brussels Sprout inclusion.

Certis: I don't know; the angle looked right.
Elysium: Did it?

Also, is it just me or do the rockets look like orcas?

Art is subjective I guess.

Ha! Loved the stream.

You guys have a great chemistry gaming together. Love to see more.

Skye Storme had a great planning strat that I'm totally gonna nick.

Before building anything he pauses the game and plops a dome down, centralized to initial resources. Then he runs power lines around it and radiates them out in spokes.

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/Id45ueK.jpg)

Then he deletes the dome, un-pauses and produces the power lines. The spokes become his production lines, where he also builds O2/H20 lines directly over the power lines.

When the production prep is finished and the dome is ready, he has a perfect spot ready to be set in like a puzzle piece.

Looks neat, tidy & ergonomic.

Ohhhh, I like that. You'd think Elysium would have thought of it.

It's pretty, and a reasonable design, but probably uses way more cable than necessary.

I was thinking you could achieve the same ends by simply laying down the spokes in the initial setup and skipping the dome circumference part.

But cabling is cheaper than dirt and it does give a nice hex aesthetic to the design.

I could see it going either way.

Been watching that series on YouTube - he's very engaging isn't he?

Sorely tempted by this now. Decisions decisions, especially with Pillars of Eternity 2 being pushed back another month.

Seen enough, took the green man gaming offer, £27.99 isn't too bad at all. Roll on tomorrow!

I caved. £21 from CDKey. I don't like buying from key resellers but money is tight until pay day.

ETA 12 hours, no pre-install annoyingly, but looking forward to it all the same.

Anyone know what time it unlocks?

5pm GMT, 6pm CET, 9am PST.

It is apparently ‘only’ a 6GB download.

Details.

Thanks, ooh the review embargo is at 2pm GMT today. Something to read while we await the download!

I have been avidly watching Skye's YouTube series at 485% difficultly while waiting (I work from home so often have youtube series running in the background while I work. Weird, but it works for me) which has been more then enough for me to know I want to get the game. Hence I did! There seems to be a lot more to it than first meets the eye! Really looking forward it now, 6GB shouldn't take too long with my internet connection. Virgin costs a fortunately but you get solid connectivity bandwidth.

Pretty sure I'll be buying it physical on PS4. I really want to give it a go, but just in case the controls / text / menus don't work for me on console, the option to trade back in is there.

Rock Paper Shotgun has a review up. Looks very positive.

So they're technically correct because they used EST and PST instead of EDT and PDT, but it's actually 1PM Eastern and 10AM Pacific. Because we switch to DST earlier than CET in Sweden, there are a few weeks when Eastern time is offset by 5 hours instead of 6. (We're currently GMT-4, instead of -5, and CET is currently still GMT+1.)

Reading a few fairly solid PS4 specific reviews... Still at times like these my desire for a gaming laptop quadruples at least!

Kinda interesting they're doing a launch-day live stream on the Steam page.

Never seen that before.

PC reviews are looking really good so far.

Woo. Loaded via Steam. And now I can't play for another 7 hours anyways.

Bought from GMG and haven't had my key yet. Gimme it!

Edit: Installing now! Kids bed time can't come soon enough...

Installing now on Steam. 3.3 GB. that shouldn't take me more than 5 minutes

I'm still at the flailing stage where I don't really know what to do or how to do it. I started a game with the easiest settings possible, lots of rockets and funding. I also picked a site with near perfect stats just above Elysium Beta, 5/5 in all resources. There are two things I find absolutely infuriating:

1. There is no keyboard shortcut for scrapping buildings. In fact the only way to do this seems to be opening the build menu, switching to the default tab and selecting it there.

2. Do I seriously need to reassign drones by clicking them one at a time (out of a horde of other drones) and clicking to send them to the next station? There must be a better way because I ordered a rocket with drones as cargo and the clicking is killing me.

EDIT: Also, are drones able to use resources carried in a rover? Because it feels like sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't and I can't figure out why.
