Monster Hunter World Catch-All

I just hope unlike PUBG increase of sales = increase of content/quality.

Health regen augment on weapon + medicine decorations is pretty nutty. Even just 1 regen augment is really strong at saving you potion uses. I haven't tried multiple regen augment stacks but assume there is some lesser effect on subsequent augments.

Oh wow, I didn't even think about medicine jewels working with regen augments. That could be great.

I ended up buying this for Xbox one, despite the advice to go PS4. I've only done a few quests but so far I'm liking this more than Monster Hunter Tri, which I loved. It's not as straightforward on quest management but fighting monsters is a lot less stressful. Which means gathering supplies and exploring are less stressful.

At this rate, they might break 10 million before the PC version is released.

I didn't know there was going to be a PC version. I would have waited for that instead.

I'm seeing a lot more content doing Wide Range. I have actually updated my own build.

I ditched Mushroomancer because I have the full farm now and I can afford to bling my item pouch to the nines. I bring Honey in addition to Mega Potions and Potions in team hunts because with Honey, I can make mega First Aid+ from First Aid items. To replace Mushroomancer, Speed Eating is now fully buffed to level 3, making every item use very quick. This consumes my charm slot, my Vambraces, and 4 level 1 Jewel slots. I use the rest of the slots for defense. Guard Up and Guard, Earplugs, Miasma Jewels, Antipara - that sort of thing. I can't heal and buff other players if I'm stunned or dead, so I take extra effort to not be stunned or dead.

In my experience, this is really only quite good in a 3 or 4 player team. In a 2 player hunt, I swap out my Wide Range skill for Attack Boost and slot in Weakness Exploits for the defenses - the usual.

It's kind of awesome you can gear up to be a group healer even though I've never wanted to do that... ever.

How big is the full farm?

Full farm is three slots for cultivation, plus 3 rows for storage, plus the full fertilizer set. With the full set, you can cultivate 18 Might Seeds in one mission. I think you can do 30 Godbugs or something ridiculous like that. It helps that I don't bother to cultivate ammo needs anymore. I earn enough Zenny from zenny missions that I find it more expedient to just buy my ammo from the vendor straight up.

Like, I have 30k+ Zenny Great Hunting Expeditions for easy mons. I Voucher that for 60k zenny per mission if I need the money.

Most of the time, you're still attacking the monster. The main difference for SOS randos is that I don't have to suffer through seeing people fighting without buffs or getting stunned then 2-hit into a cart. I can make a difference. So when I'm on, everyone is at least fighting with Armorskin and Demondrugs, and usually at least also a Might Seed. If the group is good, I'll throw in Demon Powder and Adamant Seeds, too. I've even used a Might Pill to good effect.

I use Lifepowder to prevent carts, but it's only 3 pieces and the effect is small. That's why I ditched Mushroomancer. Blue Mushrooms are nice, but it's not enough healing when someone's nearly dead and Diablos is right on top of them.

So I put together a regen set last night because I like riding bandwagons. I've got the 3pc Hazzak bonus, 3 Speedy Recovery and 1 Medicine Jewel (would have put more if I had them). I haven't tried it yet, but I did have to go down to 1 point in Flinch Free. How effective is one point? or is it an all or nothing thing.

1 point in Flinch Free is all you need to avoid being tripped in groups.

Dyni wrote:

Doesn't save you from that one uppercut a hunt. Although, I doubt 3 points would save you from that.

Thankfully I'm usually the one dishing out the uppercuts, so it's all good. >_>

This is partly why I started using Wide Range. Between all the tripping and the flying I do when I get in there, there's usually no point in going for damage as an SnS if three other teammates are swarming a monster. So I only get in in between the monster being dangerous and everyone being on it like flies. The rest of the time, I'm a dodge or two to the side monitoring buffs and health statuses. Thankfully, once the member count goes down, Wide Range becomes less effective, but I do get some space to actually swing my weapon.

I've been eyeing the Hazak set for some time now. Might go well with my Health Regen augmented Anja Cannon.

I have Hero Streamstones for 1 Lance and 1 Sword. Any suggestions on which weapon and which augment?

So I tried out the aforementioned Vaal Hazzak set, and it really didn't click with me. I might not have the right gems (only had the super recovery, 3 speedy recovery, and 1 medicine jewel), but I didn't feel like I had enough raw attack. The decorations worked out that I couldn't have my elementaless jewel and 0 points in attack. The recovery is nice, but I was hitting like a wet noodle. I tried it on a tempered Azure Rathalos and carted a bunch just because I wasn't getting in those crucial ko's. I ended the night on a high note by going back to my default set (with a couple vitality gems for some insurance since I was getting one shot) and got him in half the time it took me before.

Unless you're talking about lacking Slugger, your damage has nothing to do with your ability to KO. KO and Exhaust values are static.

Hmmm. I didn't have any points in slugger for both builds. I guess I was just playing better with the set I was comfortable with.

After 40 hours of Monster Hunter World...

I can kind of sympathize. But when I got the missions for Tempered monsters and I saw Bazelgeuse for the first time, my reaction was more like, "Oh sweet Lord, what IS that? Can I fight it now? What kind of awesome gun can I make if I beat that?"

Well, it turns out that the Bazelgeuse gun was a little underwhelming, but the monster itself is a blast to fight. Love going after ol' Bazel.

I soloed a tempered Val'Hazaak in 5:14 on my Gunlance. That felt good!

And it dropped an attack jewel! They actually exist!

I see what you did there.

I am being super conservative, and need more Bagel Goose parts for the set i want to wear into my first Teostra fight... i really hate bagel goose. I main glaive, and it's pretty tricky to draw orange essence off him, he doesn't telegraph his health level very well, and i really REALLY hate that he draws in other monsters at every possible opportunity. I will be more than happy when i can put him behind me

I need to figure out how to get more tempered investigations and try the tempered kirin. Am I really just supposed to keep doing expeditions until I find enough blue-colored tracks? Any easier methods?

I got a few while on temered investigations, but not engaging the monster immediately and following them around and collecting blue tracks

Unfortunately, the method of getting new tempered quests is pretty tedious. You pretty much need to just follow tempered monsters around and collect tracks. Kirin, Kushala, Teostra, and Val'Hazaak will not attack unprovoked, so you can just run around and collect without fear.

The best tempered elder to collect tracks on is Nergigante because he patrols back and forth on a very small path. I have built up a pretty sizable collection of tempered elder quests by AFKing for 15-20 minutes at a time, then throwing on my Ghille Mantle and collecting the huge stack of tracks left behind. I just set a timer while working at my desk on something else, then pop on to collect when enough time has elapsed for tracks to stack.

If you don't have any Nerg, any of the other Elders will work similarly. They just patrol in a much wider range, so you have to run around a lot more to collect everything.

If you have any tempered Nergigante investigations, hold onto them for this purpose.

Thunderous Rumble in the Highlands is an assigned quest, I think. You get it automatically. You just need to hit HR 49. When that happens, don't kill Kirin. Not yet. Just take the quest, and then follow KKirin around and gather mats and tracks along the way. Do this for 50 minutes. Preferably with Felyne Researcher or Scholar skills. Fail the quest. Once you're done, go back home and check whether you scored a tempered Nergi o Kirin Investigation. If you did, then feel free to complete the assigned quest. You can pick up tracks from either of those investigations.

For Tempered X investigations, you can hop onto someone else's Tempered Quest and pick up tracks while chasing the monster. The best ones are Barroth for tier 1 and Diablos for tier 2 because they both leave a lot of tracks everywhere. If you're hard up, hit me up on the squad and we can follow monsters while we chew the fat. Character is Gantrie. ID is SpinalShooter. I have Barroth and Diablos investigations.

Thanks to Dyni for hosting us for the Vaal Hazak Limited Bounties! Sorry for the carts. Ahahaha. It's my gun Karma. I was just then getting pissed at a couple randos for dying to Hazak on my own TED. I am suitably humbled.

But the real news is that the event "A Simple Task" is 9 star apparently because there's a whole bunch of Tempered Monster tracks in the Ancient Forest during the quest! I was just expecting a relaxing mushroom romp so I brought my Botany and fishing gear. Imagine being in your vacay duds and seeing a whole bunch of Tempered Bazelgeuse tracks! Haha. I picked up the tracks but went right back to camp and came out with my combat gear. I never did see a large monster during the quest. Maybe it's just a tracks quest? Great for people looking for those Tempered Investigations.

I saw Anjanath, Rathian, Rathalos, and Bazelgeuse tracks. So you can advance multiple tier tempered meters during the event quest.

No prob! They were fun hunts. I have built a pretty big stockpile of tempered elder quests from afk farming while working, so I'm trying to solo the 2 man quests and save the rest to post for groups. I'll have several others to host next time I hop on.

Good to know about the new event quest. I have a ton of TED, but only one or two Threat 2 quests, so that will be great for stocking up.

I clipped the end of one of our 3 man hunts where our old pal, Girros, decided to lend a helping hand:

That's hilarious! Vaal Hazak done in by a Girros. That's definitely one for sharing!
