Huh.

Spoiler:

So Robot is alien and Dr. Smith is female. Hopefully that means they are dropping the creepy old dude vibe.

I am 100%, nay, all of the percents, into this Lost in Space business.

I am on-board too. It's is entirely careening wildly into my particular space alley.

Can't wait. It was such a crazy good first season. And it looks like the all the crazy is back to deliver more.

That's why.

Parker muthafukin Posey.

I just hope the rest of the cast is talented, too.

Don't think it's a good trailer, but the movie might be good.

Like so many trailers for franchises, I was left feeling like it was good but very safe. It will be fun but not risky.

That looks cool!

I've never read it. What's the case against Ready Player One? Even if it's just links to stuff online. I'm curious why people are having such a strong reaction.

Same as the book. It all depends on your tolerance of nostalgia. The movie is getting extra flack because it's veering from the book some which focused primarily on the 80s-90s while the movie is shifted to 90s-2000s.

OPINION ALERT!!

The movie looks like sh*t because it's a vapid exercise in nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia, rather than a story set within a nostalgic time period marked by nostalgic moments/things. Lindsey Ellis has a good breakdown of what makes a nostalgic show good (Stranger Things Season 1) and what's just (IMO) masturbatory "remember this thing?! Remember that thing?!"

RP1 reeks of the latter, but I'll eat my words if it ends up being the former.

For me it's the fact that the marketing campaign is basically this:

Me neither, but I gather it's extremely misogynistic and occasionally transphobic (toned down in the movie I would imagine, but still....not for me, thanks!) Everything I've seen or heard about the main character makes me think he'd have been a perfect recruit for Gamergate.

Plus, just in general I have an inherent loathing for excessive fourth-wall breaking / pop-culture references and that seems to be basically an entire book/movie about excessive fourth wall breaking and pop culture references.
