Adobe Lightroom vs Photoshop Elements vs other

A couple years ago I made the switch from Photoshop Elements to Lightroom. I liked that the Lightroom edits were non-destructive. Also, it seemed much easier to do simple touch ups like white balance, exposure, color correction. I had also read good things about the Lightroom organizer compared to Photoshop Elements Organizer.

Adobe went and made Lightroom part of their subscription model, which I'm not doing. I don't use photo editing software a lot. I have over 10,000 photos I want to catalog, and I don't want to do it in one package (Lightroom) and need to redo it in another if my version of Lightroom suddenly starts having problems with operating system upgrades or something else.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what package I should commit to? It doesn't have to be Lightroom or Photoshop Elements, but I do want it to be something that will most likely continue to get support so I don't have to abandon my cataloging. I typically tag by people, possibly an event (like a vacation), a location, etc...

I have not tried any of these but a friend of mine swears by the Corel software. OK, Full disclosure, his wife works there and so did he at one point.

I may have a copy of Aftershot at home that I am not using. I'll look for it and let you know.

Thanks groan.

I should mention that I don't usually do anything complicated and I don't have a DSLR, so my shots are in jpg format. I do have a prior version of Photoshop Elements, so maybe I should play around with the catalog and see how capable it is. I do also have Corel Paintshop Pro.

My biggest concern is cataloging using one program and then needing to switch due to technical / unsupported in future issues. It should be easy to switch editors.

Someone mentioned trying Google photo as it does quite a bit. It always seems so daunting when I think of cataloging 10K+ photos.

I use Google Photos and it's amazing. Sort by date by default and you can search almost anything such as "red balloons" and it will find any image with a "red balloon" or whatever looks like a red balloon in it.

I don't shoot with my SLR much any more but I do upload my more precious photos up to GP. It's worth checking out since it's free. They offer you lots of storage.

About a year ago I painstakingly searched for a Lightroom alternative.

I ended up biting the bullet and take the hated subscription with LR CC.

I know it is almost 100 euro a year, but photography is a part of my earnings and speeding up post processing saves money in my case.

I haven't found a combo that works better for me than the LR postprocessing with a midi controller. See till example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5pw...

The time I save when juggling bulks of pictures with the midi controller in Lightoom justifies my subscription, but I hate it... hate it.. hate it..
