Archer on FX

I agree that this episode wasn't the strongest start to the season (although I am digging the style, especially the opening). I understand that they probably have a lot of storylines and "new character" backgrounds to set up for the coming season. So I'm alright with them taking some time to do all that before it gets into the good stuff

I typically don't care for "it was all a dream" episodes (or seasons) but I think I'm ok with Archer since they have gotten a bit desperate for storylines with the drug dealers then the PI thing. What more character progression can I really expect? A season where they are on an alien planet?

I don't think I need to spoiler that this season is a dream - it is literally called "Dreamland".

Five episodes in and I'm enjoying the new season but it's also becoming increasingly clear to me that the show has sort of run it's course. They need to end it before it starts getting bad.

I kept eye-balling the DVDs on Amazon... adding them to cart... taking them out of the cart....

Walked into Walmart (a while ago), and past a big bin of DVDs... I take a peek. Hmmm, Archer Season 4. What else is in here? Dig, dig, dig, Season 1, dig, Season 2, dig, dig, Season 5, dig dig dig dig, Season 3! Woo-hoo! All for less than $7 each.

I need them, you know, for when Netflix stops having them. I haven't even opened the wrapping, on them

The wife, and I, LOVE it. We've watched through all (the Netflix seasons) of it... 5 times? 6? So GD good!

Hard to pick a favourite (main) character, but it's either Cheryl/Carol, or Kreiger... probably Kreiger

Finally all cough up and ready for the new season. Really enjoyed last one. Laughs were sure on point for Sterling. Curious what is in your spoiler tabs. I'll have to find out.

This season is definitely feeling a little flat compared to most of the past ones.

Pam is still hilarious. More adventures of Pam Poovey please.

The Pam and Kreiger Show would be hawt.

Just finished Dreamland (finally). This season had moments, but it definitely (to me) wasn't as funny as previous seasons. At the end they have a very touching memorial to George Coe. I'm now interested to see how/where they pick up again.

Did you binge watch it?

Watching it week-to-week I didn't enjoy Dreamland much at all but I thought it might be better watching it in a large chunk or two. There was some amazing animation but the previous seasons have all had at least one episode I loved there wasn't anything this time around.

I think the big issue for me was Lana playing a bit part. Archer is a guilty pleasure for me but I think Lana's the one character that grounds things and gives the show a soul. Without her things get a bit too crass for comfort.

Nope, I'm a Pam-fan... Pam-anatic...?

I watched it in chunks.

It seemed like all of the characters were either retreading old ground or just not "themselves". Pam as a dude didn't really work for me (though it took like four episodes to figure out that Poovey was a guy), Malory's lines could have just been rehashed audio from other episodes, and Cheryl was same old Cheryl.

The parts I liked the most were Ray (and the band) and, as always, Krieger. Also, the PTSD moments humanized Archer, I thought.

For those of you, like myself, who enjoy re-watching Archer on Netflix, bad news. Archer seasons 1-7 will be leaving Netflix in mid-March. I'm really bummed about that.

I don't believe it's leaving Canadian Netflix, for those of us north of 49. Hard to confirm, but doesn't seem to be.

I found Archer(s) in the bargain bin (at Walmart), one day. You better believe that I spent probably close to 20 minutes to find every season in there. They're still in the wrapper, because they're still on Netflix.

We really love that show!

Damn, I was looking forward to a new season to binge in March before it drops off but I am all caught up....Oh well.

Watched the first episode of Danger Island! I'm a bit torn on it. Some of the characters work very well, such as Archer, Pam, Krieger (as a parrot!), and Cyril. But Lana and Ms. Archer seem sort of tacked on as their old selves with different titles. Ray's involvement needs to be flushed out some more.

I dig the new direction, but I kind of wish that they would resolve whether the fate of Archer that precipitated Dreamland.

My theory is that Danger Island! is

Spoiler:

another coma dream because Archer is recast as Rip Riley, complete with the Loosey Goosey.

This is great if you need a little Archer fix:

Preview for the new season. Can't wait:

So, I haven't watched the last few seasons of Archer, so.....what...the....hell...happened...

If you’re wondering about continuity, they’ve (happily) jettisoned the concept. New season, new situation for roughly-the-same characters.

Personally, I think it was a surprising and effective decision - the single plot arc was straining at the seams.

Three seasons ago Archer went into a coma for reasons and everything since has been coma dreams that remix established characters and themes from the show. This season is sci-fi themed obviously, last season was an Indiana Jones-ish adventure serial set on a tropical island, the one before that was 1920’s crime noir.

Dreamland got old pretty quick for me, but I enjoyed the entirety of Danger Island.

Agree 100%. Dreamland was pretty heavy on the dark and light on the humor. Danger Island was just pure fun.

Explains the setup of each character for Archer: 1999. Doesn't get into plot, but might be considered slightly spoilerish depending on how you view such things.

The very last line of this week's episode totally makes it.

I’m excited to watch it..... when it finally hits Netflix, in a year.....

Archer’s been renewed for season 11. The new season will have Archer wake from his coma and have to deal with the physical and emotional difficulties that result from him being out of action for three years.

Watching the new Archer season. Jessica Walter sounds kind of rough. I mean, she is 79, but still. You can tell that they all recorded their lines from home. Love the line "human catheter ad".

I didn't notice Jessica Walter's voice being different but Aisha Tyler's voice definitely sounded scratchy in the first episode at least. I was thinking it sounded off and then my wife said it out loud. Maybe just a cold.

Maybe I missed it but why haven't they brought up Lana and Archer's daughter? Seems like that would be a big thing.

Agreed.

Also Jessica Walter might have been affected by the death of her husband, Ron Liebman. There was a nice tribute to him at the end of the second episode.
