Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Catch All

I loved the bit with the priest.

I think Main Level is 14, but most of that came from doing the melee training.

Once Defense got to 20, swords and axes basically are super ineffective against my plate build... unless I burn out all my stamina, at which point I can start to take damage.

I got visibly stunned by an archer at close range... resulting in no health damage.

If you want to play the game "as intended" I wouldn't recommend this method, but if you're tired of bandits, cummins and anyone else getting in your way ...

This is a skill based RPG. Do it by training or out in the wild you have to do this to advance in the game.

So far my most fun moment with the game.

I don't remember all that i did yesterday but went to buy new tackle for my horse and i only had 178g and i started the day between 5k-6k. I've done too much to fall back to a save, but i did multiple buy off options for quests. So be careful on what you're paying for.

Getting it back is easy. I'll just go hunting down Cumin camps and sell off the gear in Rattay.

My favorite part of the game so far.

Yes, but max leveling based on a tutorial section, with no consequence is probably not what the developers intended.

I wouldn't mind if training was very physically demanding on Hal, or he could get injured. This would limit the amount of time you could spend training. As it is now, you can just go redo the master strikes tutorial and get fully healed.

f*ck me...

Spoiler:

I was just responsible for allowing most of a village to die from dysentery. It said to wait to check the outcome and i assume i had time so, went down to Rattay to train and clean up my inventory. I get a message to talk to the priest and i come back to be told everyone died... :(

Well someone at the dev studio has a thing against vendor trashing...

A couple of thoughts/questions:

The animations can be a bit hard to see in melee, but they really stand out when you are shooting arrows at someone in close range. My standard tactic is to walk backwards from bandits while shooting arrows at their heads until I thin them out some. Man, seeing arrows break on the armor or getting someone in the eye is so very cool.

Speaking of fighting groups, I do the arrow thing because engaging multiple enemies in melee never ends well with me. Especially if they have shields.

Are there better weapons in the game than what you can get at the Swordsmiths? I'm using a mace and I'm currently rocking the Bailiff's mace (same damage as the Ceremonial but half the weight). Do they open special weapons later on?

About the witch thing:

Spoiler:

Is there any way to resolve that without unlocking the horse's ass and murdering some poor dudes?

You made the wrong cure sounds like.

I don't think this is due to Defense stat, at least not entirely. My dude's Defense is at around 5 or 6 but he has very good armor (plate + chainmail pieces) and he takes practically no damage in most of his fights. At least against bandits as that's all I am fighting atm.

I am not sure how all these stats work (weapon stats vs armor stats vs character stats) but I remember reading somewhere that armor doesn't simply reduce damage as in most games. If a hit connects with a well (and appropriately) armored part of the body, e.g. slash weapon vs plate or chainmail, there will be no damage to health at all, armor will absorb everything.

About belladonna.

Spoiler:

I've only seen it twice in the wild and not at huge numbers. The best spot I've found so far is directly south of the horse vendor in Uzhvits. There is a farm on the edge of the forest and immediately west of it there is a huge patch of St. Something herb with about 10 or so Belladonna plants as well.

Oh and yeah, the priest's quest was the best. And the witch quest was some weird, probably buggy mess.

hehe nope it was the correct one and gave it the folks around town. They got better, but relapsed and died. Apparently the trip to Rattay and spending the night then back to the Moeldeheopwerwiowor (Seriously i'm awful with those names) was too long.

Weird. I cured them from their poison (the bandits had poisoned the well) and when I checked back everyone was doing fine. Quest closed.

Do you by chance know how far along the story line at that point is? Actually my next step is to find and confront the gent in charge of the counterfeiting. That 40% 50% complete at that point? Anyone finished this yet and know?

There was a 220mb update today.

Meh, not much to it, unless you are having specific quest issues:

This is hotfix patch for the following issues:

Fix for R2 button being non-responsive in combat (only applicable when playing with a controller)
Fix for issues in quests with Hans Capon
Fix for quest Ginger in a Pickle

The version displayed in Main menu is 1.2.5

This patch is compatible with all current mods (in as much as these mods are compatible with our game).

Short answer is yes.

Spoiler:

But ... not by much, they usually just do a bit more damage or even a bit less. The three examples I've found so far are a Cuman bow that's 74 damage (versus 77 for a top-end yew longbow), a longsword named St. George's, and the Raven's Beak warhammer. I suspect that some of the treasure maps and ancient maps lead to more. Also, watch for exceptional pieces - not everything named the same has the same stats. For example, Cuman bows range from 62 to 74 damage, at least.

Herod's sword does 75

The big battle at Preb-something was pretty cool. It was nice to not be outnumbered 4 to 1 for once.

So far my biggest irritation is the slowdown for the last hour whenever you sleep or wait. It drives me insane.

That bit doesn't bother so much as the 50%+ slowdown if you alt tab to another window when you're waiting.

I've seen a lot of Skyrim comparisons made. But from what I've seen of Kingdom Come: Deliverance (very little), on the surface anyway, this game seems in the Mount and Blade vein, at least in terms of mechanics. M&B is ten years old and obviously dated (and was extremely sandboxy in terms of direction or lack thereof), but is this something of a fair comparison? It just struck me as odd that no one seems to be mentioning M&B, so I thought I'd ask.

No, it is a great point. I still love M&B and, yeah, I can see the similarity.

Yeah, there's less of the army-building aspect of M&B, but the combat is very similar. The overall maneuvering is probably a little crude in comparison, but the melee system is significantly better one-on-one.

The SteamSpy data on this is really positive. It’s the #1 trending game on Steam. Average playtime is almost 20 hours, and mean is 15 hours. Almost 7 million YouTube video views for videos uploaded last week.

I picked this up for Xbox One and have tried to enjoy it, but man is the game really trying hard not to let me. Disappearing items, quest bugs, animation issues, the janky save system, and horrendous lock picking have exhausted my patience. On the other hand I absolutely love the story, world, characters, combat, and so many other things that it’s very frustrating. I think I’m shelving it until the 1.3 patch because from where I’m sitting it still needs lots of work.

I couldn't help but think of Kingdom Come when Certis was talking about Assassin's Creed 1 needing a patch that eventually was Assassin's Creed 2.

I've actually had almost zero issues with bugs - a few graphical glitches, but nothing dramatic. I cant wait for the Game of Thrones mod that is being worked or an expansion/mod set in England or France. There is some serious possibility in the game for mods/expansions.

So where do you get horse armor? Or will that be paid DLC later on down the line?
