Steam Winter Sale 2017 Buy-All

Now I'm wanting to add Slay the Spire into the mix. I've seen my coworker play during his break and it looks like they custom-built this game for me. Yeah, another rogue-like!

It's fantastic. I got it last week and can't stop playing it. I'm always a sucker for deck-building rogue-likes, and this is one of the better ones.

Finally bought Tabletop Simulator to help my wife and I stave off buying more board games. Excited to get Caverna back on the "table" since, with the set up and play time, our kids never let us get in a full game.

Because it's in early acess, it has changed a lot over the last year or so. Plus it's a rogue like so not always much to discuss. However, I highly recommend it. But make sure you have a controller.

I played Dead Cells with m/kb with no issues whatever. Super solid game. Absolutely worth getting.

Yeah! I'm getting hyped. I'm trying to decide between this and Dead Cells. They're both mildly discounted and seem pretty involving so I don't see the need to go overboard with both just yet. (I'm also trying to preemptively head off any "why not both" memes).

Just gotta ask myself if it's rogue-y action combat I want or rogue-y deckbuilding...

Slay the Spire is fantastic. And no platforming!

Done. Spire gon git slain!

Yup, I got Spire too.

The temptation for Slay the Spire is getting to me, even though I tend to avoid deck-building games, and I tend to really like rogue-likes for a few days and then forget about them.

I was watching a few lets plays on this channel

and it got me thinking how'd I'd play the hands he had, or which choices I'd make instead. (BTW, it looks like he just posted part 80(!!) of this series, so at least for him this game seems to have some longevity)

Thanks to Krev for Superflight!

It will be fun to do some wingsuiting without having to reinstall Just Cause 3.

I’m still on my first run in Slay the Spire. Got past the first guardian and maybe midway through the next act. I’m liking it a lot.

I bited on Slay the Spire also, great card/rogue game.... but got slammed on my first run with the guardian.... what does it carry over for my next run??

You get xp (or whatever they call it) which unlocks more stuff.

I made it through by a hair...maybe had 25hp remaining on my last turn. Luckily I was able to play one of my Hail Mary attack cards to finish him off.

Losing artifacts and spire progress after a death makes sense. I would imagine cards stay upgraded across runs. That doesn't happen?

I have resolved to be more frugal about my game purchases after an unexpected layoff. I've landed a new job since that resolution, but being more frugal is still a good idea so I'm sticking with it.

But dang! Space Hulk: Deathwing is $16 right now...

Okay, so Steam is sometimes a bit annoying about DLC and Bundles and Season Packs... but this one was just weird.

Quantum Conundrum is currently $0.98
On the store page it also lists three DLCs for sale: Two expansions for $0.50 each and a Soundtrack for $0.99
While hemming and hawing I decided to read reviews for the DLCs and under one of them there was suddenly a new purchasing option:
The Quantum Conundrum Season Pass: "Includes the full game, Soundtrack, and both DLC's!"
For $0.99.
Link to the DLC with the Season Pass option.

Don't do it! It's not really fun!

That only encourages him.

I bought Slay the Spire and am really enjoying it so far. Killed the second floor boss on my 4th run, and now I’m trying to get to sleep because I have to work tomorrow, but I’m just thinking about how things are going to go on the third floor.

I’m glad you found something else.

But.. Space Hulk?

GWJ effect led me to get Slay the Spire too. I haven't started it yet, but that won't last long.

You will regret nothing!

Many thanks to Danopian for the gift of Bird Assassin.

It has definitely beaked my interest.

Boooo.

Yeah, that was definitely a fowl pun.

Hawkwaaaaaard..... we are not emused.

I don't know what you all are cawing about, I thought it was hilarious.

I also thought it was a hoot!

A few early birds here chirping for attention. Can we get back on track before I fly the coop?

No egrets.

I don't mean to crow, but I made it through this sale without biting off more than I can swallow for once! Hopefully owl be able to parrot with a similar performance next Steam sale. I don't want to thrush to judgement, but I don't think it's ostrich to say I'm terning a corner here.

(Apologies, this post is a little gift to myself for not caving on any purchases this time around.)
