Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Catch All

Otherwise, dragons aside, this
game basically IS Skyrim, just with a more complex combat system and a few extra survival and reputation mechanics.

One of the major differences, I think, is that Skyrim plays to the "I am special" trope like so many other games. You're the Dragonborn, a wizard in a world of Muggles, the lost princess, or whatever. One of the refreshing things about KC:D is that Henry is just a normal guy, who one day is tossing cow patties at a neighbor's house and the next is caught up in a war and a world he doesn't understand. And better, the game makes you feel it. Fleeing from the Cumans, you know that if you stop, you're going to die. Every combat is risky. And there's no shortcut to becoming better and stronger, either for the player or the character.

Tagging - this looks really interesting. Anyone playing on PS4?

This game has had more poignant and emotional moments than any RPG I've played in a long while. The cut scenes and quests have run the gamut between anger, compassion, love, fear, and downright funny. The quests hold my attention and I like the fact that you can pretty much play the game as Robin Hood or Zorro or whatever your flavor is. The combat is great and having fully repaired armor and sword as well as patience with your strikes and blocks matters. More then satisfied with my Kickstarter contribution.

I'm on the PS4pro ... it's been working pretty well, but as other have said bugs are still there.

Here's the video where the combat finally clicked for me, and I was able to defeat Sir Bernard - still training weapons, but mace training weapons which actually cause damage. The mace fight starts at 54 minutes.

Looks cool. Watched from 54 and then skipped forward to the fight at the camp ending at 1:13. Nice setup with your PIP.

Well done!

I should try and record as well. I decided to use real weapons. I landed a 4 hit chain at the start and he ended the session.

I also took him out with a mace in practice.

FYI you get sneak xp if you're patient enough to let a bandit/Cumin to go out on patrol and knock/kill him away from camp.

I'm setting up for that now, with some additional dirty tricks.

Spoiler:

I made a bunch of Bane, as well as a hundred or so Poison for arrows (thank god for the Routine perk, it should have been a lot lower in the tree - took me an painful hour to get from 8 to 10 Alchemy, and then about ten minutes to get the next few levels). I tested the Bane out on some bandits this morning and one-shotted two of them right off the bat, though I'm not sure how much of that was the Bane and how much was using a decent stabbing weapon. I've also got some Nighthawk potions so I can see in the dark.

Also, I noticed that in some camps there is a "poison the wine" location, so I'd like to try that to see what it does.

Spoiler:

I've yet to deal with poison or alchemy much. i've brewed 2 potions so far and that's it. I'm actually in part of the story mission where i have to brew one and need to hunt down an herb i've yet to come across.

I have looted a couple handful of them already. The Cumins seem to carry or store a lot of them.

I think the 'poison the food/wine' option only works at dusk and dawn. Those are the only times i've noticed them making the noise that they're consuming something.

Anyone know if those watercolor splash screens are available as screenshots somewhere?

Another tip...

If you pay for a room for multiple nights. That place becomes another home area for you. You don't have to keep paying for it after that.

Spoiler:

If it's Belladonna, I have yet to find it growing in the wild despite extensive searching. You can, however, buy it from the herbalists. If it's cave shrooms, I've only found one spot where I could harvest them, and they didn't respawn, so buying is the best option there as well. All the other plants are available in the wild with minimal effort. Tusks, antlers, and other parts I haven't actually had to use yet, but the tusks and antlers come from hunting. Feathers I'm not sure about.

And that's good to know about the poisoning - I tried to pull it off, but couldn't find the location in the camps I attacked. Killing the patrols worked like a charm though, even when I had them slip out of my knockout. I have Stealth Kill now, though, and no one has ducked that.

Spoiler:

Valerian and wormwood. I've found wormwood, but not the other. On vendor or out in the wild. I did find a herbalist out the forest somewhere, but not managed to find her again.

Spoiler:

That's interesting, because - at least for me - valerian is everywhere. It has a fluffy white flower that kind of looks like a dandelion seed head. Look along forest edges, and there's a particularly huge patch in the fields west of Uzhitz - just go a bit past the archery range on the road, then north.

Also, if you found the herbalist once, it should be marked on the map.

HAHA! i started to head east to check out that spot and immediately ran into a forest garden with nothing but valerian. Plus isn't it a weed and not a flower?

I have no idea.

So Hal decided to train with the Captain for 2 days...

Did amazing things for Defence (20), Warfare (18), Swords (16), Maces (14), Axes (14)... Strength (14), Agility (10)

With the preorder armour set, I'm stomping on bandits ... Easy mode activated

Do the small forest bandit camps repopulate?

yep

Romance spoilers:

Spoiler:

So I romanced Theresa. After we did the fairly explicit (for a game) sex scene, is it just over? Any other dialog options are run of the mill for any one. Then I was able to do the missions for Lady Stephanie and I banged her as well. Is Hal just a man-whore?

Don't push this on Hal. You did this!

Well, yeah, I guess I'm a man-whore too.

It's one of my disappointments with the game.

Spoiler:

Once you "romance" someone there's no ongoing relationship. Like, you had sex, what else would you possibly want?! It's stupid.

Welp, looks like I know what I'll be doing soon. I'm fighting groups of guys and my stats are still all around 3-6 and it's rough. Lots of dying and ruined armor.

Somewhere along the way I ended up with a spear in my inventory that requires 9 strength to use. It won't let me equip it, sell it, move it to a chest or horse, or drop it and it has a weight of 10 so... bug? Shame too because it does 110 stabbing damage whereas the best weapon I can use right now does around 43 stabbing.

Really appreciate all the information and impressions. I'm tempted to jump in right away, but am going to try to hold out until it hits $40 or less.

It sounds like something I'd really enjoy on the whole, minus a few things here and there.

They're currently bugged. I'd love to try them out.

Yea, so there is this part in the main quest where you're supposed to scout this encampment... the scouting part has probably 20-30 dudes wandering. They weren't wandering around after unstoppable dread knight Hal waltzed in and war hammered everyone to death... It's actually a little silly now, as I one or two hit killed the "big bad" at the end of the quest...

That's a little disconcerting. What level are you now?

I think Main Level is 14, but most of that came from doing the melee training.

Once Defense got to 20, swords and axes basically are super ineffective against my plate build... unless I burn out all my stamina, at which point I can start to take damage.

I got visibly stunned by an archer at close range... resulting in no health damage.

If you want to play the game "as intended" I wouldn't recommend this method, but if you're tired of bandits, cummins and anyone else getting in your way ...
