Star Wars Misc. Catch-All

Have you seen this yet, Rawk?

That comic was really well done. Nice fan service.

I wonder how Lucasfilm/Disney feel about EA doing basically nothing with the license so far. They've put out 2 multiplayer-only (oh, excuse me, there's a generic 4 hour on-rails campaign in the latest one -- well done, EA) games while the first 3 new movies have come out. Each time I've seen one it's really put me in the mood to play a single player game set in that universe, but there's nothing new for me to play, so I just end up firing up KOTOR or Dark Forces or something.

We so need another Jedi Knight kind of game. While The Force Unleashed was cool, the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series was way more fun. And I really want another Xwing/Tie Fighter game that has a more flight sim feel to it then the arcade stuff they did after Xwing Alliance. Even a game like Privateer/X3/Elite Dangerous set in the Star Wars universe would be awesome.

If you've seen the way EA charges for characters on their Star Wars mobile games, then I'm betting someone over there has been looking at Star Citizen and thinking about how they could pull that kind of monetization off for a Star Wars skinned space sim. Grind 3,000 hours to earn enough to buy a YT freighter or just spend $1,000 and buy it outright.

Eh.

Let them demonstrate that they can write an ending first.

(Though I guess that didn't stop JJ either...)

Ugh, this is the worst SW news since Attack of the Clones.

My biggest hope for that news is that it means the Confederate project they were talking up a while ago is dead.

The good news is Kennedy and the story group will make sure this does not go the way that that Confederate show was heading. Also this means more opportunity for women and PoC directors. (Although let's get them as producers and writers as well Kennedy!)

Also, I don't understand complaints about too much of something. If you think you are getting overwhelmed you don't have to watch it immediately!

Let's just see if they can even last through production without getting let go due to creative differences.

Narrator: They can't.

It's worked fine so far.

Alright folks, what's so wrong with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss? They wouldn't be my first choice as so far their best work is adapting someone else's and the latest season of Thrones, which I haven't seen, was moderately derided. And then there are the ... problematic aspects of the show itself.

So, I get being disappointed and all, but to me this seems a bit hyperbolic:

Clearly, the worst SW news since Clones was that Lucas would direct Episode III.

I'm just excited to have some new storytellers in the SW universe. Let's see some Darth Bane or Revan!

What I want, and what I think they would have been good at, is a Sons of Anarchy style TV series about a Mandalorian clan.

They were involved in the Confederate show that got cancelled before it was made. A show that posited "What if the South won the war and "slavery" never went a way.

A pretty tone deaf show to say the least.

Luckily they will have Kennedy and the story group looking over thier shoulder.

Yet everyone loves Man in the High Castle, an alternate universe show where the Axis won WW2.

...Really? You really don't see the difference?

Ugh.

Yes slavery because of skin color is pretty horrible.

So is rounding up and killing millions of people because of their religion.

Was the confederacy more racist than the Nazis with their master race philosophy?

Not the thread for this.

Can we agree that we're all terrible people whose points of view are incredibly askew rather than debating which property is more offensive and why?

Am I the only one who assumed he already had one?

Nope. Long overdue.

I’ve been a fan of Mark Hamill since I was a little kid. Until recently I’ve always felt like a bit of an apologist. I feel like most people have always looked down on him.

But the Mark Hamill of today is an amazing personality. I always knew he was a great guy. Ever since he guested on The Muppet Show. Now almost everyone is a fan.

VINDICATION FEELS SO GOOD!

Sadly Carrie Fisher never got one. I was surprised to see thatBilly Dee Williams got his in 1985, but Harrison Ford got his only in 2003.

The actors/actresses actually have to pay for the stars themselves, many don't bother.

Seems to be some conflict in the press stuff regarding the GoT fellows. I saw a couple of things that indicated a TV series not a set of films which makes more sense to be tied directly to Disney's new streaming service. That would draw a lot of subscribers to the new service.
