Fork it! We need a thread for The Good Place (Spoilers!)

The Good Place just finished its second season, and it is awesome. Let's talk about it!

1st rule of The Good Place thread: Go watch The Good Place.

2nd rule of The Good Place thread: Go watch The Good Place.

There will be spoilers if you have not seen the show. Personally, I think the show holds up even with knowledge of the twists, but you have been warned.

I'll just post to say we just finished watching the first season this weekend, and it was delightful. I'm hoping we can get caught up on season 2 soon.

Great show. Been watching season 2 on Hulu and I'm all caught up.

As someone who has a useless degree in Philosophy (don't worry I also have a slightly less useless degree in Math) I'm just happy to have a show that's entertaining, funny and willing to explore some philosophical ideas of what makes a person good or bad, what's moral, what's ethical, etc.

I introduced it to my girlfriend and got to watch Season 1 for a second time.

There are a number of moments where they are *this close* to outright saying what is happening. It shows how much they earned the end of Season 1 and launch of Season 2.

Also - Silver Fox Ted Dansen is my life aspiration. I think I will be able to pull that off in a few years.

I judge threads according to 4 categories--dance ability, dopeness, freshness, and smart brained--each with a total of 12 points possible. By this rubric I give this thread the highest score possible--an 8.

We should probably make it clear in the thread title whether this is a spoiler thread or a spoiler free thread.

Also, this show is my favorite thing on television right now.

I didn’t realize that last episode was the end of the season. Fitting, but just didn’t realize. Oh, it’s going to be a long wait.

I’m amazed at not just how smart and high-concept this is, but that it is on a major broadcast network. I’m also super happy they are just doing shorter seasons because it allows much tighter episodes.

I was so happy with this scene. It certainly helps that I grew up watching Cheers.

What do we owe each other?

He's pretty much an American Doctor Who at this point.

And I like it.

My wife and I love this show. Everyone on the cast is a delight, especially Kristen Bell and Ted Danson. I had no clue how they were going to go on after Season 1 and then Season 2 comes along and is all awesome. Then I get to the end of Season 2 and again wondered where it was going to go and it seems like they mixed it up in a way that is awesome and promises to be very entertaining.

Question on next season: Do we think this new reality is another simulation? I think it is based on all the puns we're seeing in various restaurants in the show. Also, not sure how they'd put people back into the "real world" in a way that made sense in the show. UNLESS IT IS SIMULATIONS ALL THE WAY DOWN!

Basically, The Good Place is really the secret 4th (5th? counting the Animatrix?) Matrix movie as a series.

It's fearless in killing its own status quo every series. Fantastic show

That would explain why Chidi is still speaking English instead of French.

Also how Michael could pop down so easily as a bartender.

We just finished season one. Unfortunately Hulu doesn't go all the way back for season 2. Anywhere to stream it or sol?

This show is fantastic and doesn't deserve to be on network tv. I expect it to be cancelled any minute now.

Apparently, the ratings are fairly strong, it's already been renewed for season 3, and (probably most importantly of all), the studio heads apparently LOVE it.

FTFY.

*Side note, I might legit be into Tahani.

I automatically assumed that it was a simulation since Gen snapped her fingers.

If you really like it I think it's worth purchasing. It's unlike anything else out there.

Netflix has older seasons.

Has the first season yes, annoyed I already pay for these things but they lock out older episodes. Either way I have enough TV backlog to wait.

I find myself oddly bummed that there's a "fork and knife" emoji, but not one just for the fork. WT:fork:.

Jameela Jamil has had a rough life.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jameel...

Jamil was struck by a car, breaking several bones and damaging her spine. She was told that she might never walk again, but after steroid treatment and physiotherapy she slowly recovered, using a Zimmer frame to start walking.

The steroids made her hungry and she ended up gaining 5 stone (70 pounds). She was able to lose it through physiotherapy.

She also has celiac and anaphylactic food allergies.

I saw this last night and basically died.

Jameela Jamil Misidentified on Golden Globes Red Carpet

Spoiler:

For those who aren't aware, her character on The Good Place, Tahani Al-Jamil, has spent her life being overshadowed by her more successful sister Kamilah Al-Jamil. So being misidentified as her more successful fictional sister at a real life awards ceremony is pretty hilarious and I really hope someone did this on purpose.

That's so good I can't imagine it not being done on purpose! Brave E news, bravo!

Yeah, there's no way that wasn't intentional. That's some grade A trolling from someone from E News.

When Chidi said he understood the Trolley Problem, he wasn't kidding.

Spoiler:

On the other hand, the "wipe" was off-camera, so are we sure it really happened? Janet's gotten a lot better at creating human-analogues...
