Heroes of the Storm Catch-All

And, typically if you play healer you will be one of 3 on the team.

Yeah, support in general was my thought too until I was one of 3 in a game the other day.

Sgt Hammer has got to be a pretty good Quick match hero. Her vulnerability will be movement or early game not being able to use siege mode without being picked off.
Gyah I don't play Quick match so I just don't know.
I like Lucio for healing and movement.
Nazeebo has really good range with the toads.
Oh I love Stukov. The only reason I don't play him is for some reason I can do all kinds of sh*t in a match and he nets crap XP at the end of the match.
And as I said earlier, I really like Valla but I fear she is an easy target against players while dominating vs AI.

I think hammer would be very hard for newbies. The decision on when and where to root is quite difficult if you've not played QM before.

Agree with Nazeebo though. Very newb friendly. Quite slow but with some escape options if you can time zombie wall right.

Yeah, I could see Hammer being tough for newbies mostly due to quickmatch tendencies (lack of peel/supports, etc).

Only issue I have with Nazeebo nowadays is games are shorter in general and he doesn't really come into his own until lategame.

I really like Lunara for QM, and when I checked the internet to look up how to spell her name I saw that she's actually free this week! I also really like Diablo as an off-tank, which makes him good for quick matches because there is usually another Tank. Self heal is always nice in QM, because support can't really be relied on, IIRC Butcher, Dehaka, and maybe Johanna have some decent self-heal.

Gul'dan is very self sustainable but not very beginner friendly. I also like Lunara but she's so so fragile. Any positioning mistakes get punished hard. She's great fun though.

I love Gul'dan but yeah, not beginner material for sure. His wave clear and sustain are fantastic, but he's still team dependent due to lack of CC and mobility.

Nubkeks did a video on heroes most recommended to learn for Hero League... that list included Sonya, Greymane, Rehgar, Sylvanas, and ... can't remember the fifth. I play none of them currently but, from what I've read/seen Sonya is probably a really good one to check out.

Just played my first heroes game in.... ooooh, months. Only versus the AI, just to brush the cobwebs off. It felt good, apart from some worrying lag. I've moved PC since the last time I played heroes so I wonder if it's affected my connection. I'll have to monitor that over a few AI games before I try quick match again. The Butcher feels different. I'm not totally sure what's changed but it looks like they built in his victuals talent? Real late game bruiser, but I was very rusty - only just managed a win vs Veteran AI.

Getting back into the swing of things now, played a few quick matches. It's strange to feel so behind the curve. I used to live and breathe the game, now not only are my technical skills very rusty, but my awareness is way off. To be fair I haven't got any stick from my team mates for some stupid deaths. Go Heroes community!

Who did you play back in the day? Seems like they're reworking heroes all the time.

My most played heroes are Butcher, Sylvanas, Johanna and Malfurion. Looks like they've all had some reworks apart from maybe Sylvanas?

I last played Sylvanas before she had Mind Control. Which was waaaay back, I believe.

Can't even remember the ultimate replaced by MC. I just know it was one nobody ever seemed to play.

I dunno if Sylv ever got a rework but they tweak stuff all the time. Heroespatchnotes.com has pretty good summaries of what's changed.

It was called Possession, which is now a level 7 talent (and a bad one at that!).

Yeah she got a rework but it was before I stopped playing by the looks of it, so she might be a good bet to try and get back into it for me. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out later!

I still play this game several times a week. Message me Bravenn#1237. I play with 3 or 4 guys routinely and we are always looking for more.

Are you in EU or NA?

I've been back playing consistently for over a week now, 2 or 3 games a day and really getting back into the swing of things. Mostly quick match with a bit of vs AI for the heroes I've never played before. Went on quite a losing streak but didn't mind so much, I'm a bit more chilled about my games than when I last played

I've really enjoyed Valeera the last couple of days, she's a right pain to play against so I figured if you can't beat her.... be her?

Edit: Apologies to Bram for leaving just as you joined tonight! Typical timing, but I'm on most nights for a couple of rounds so hopefully we'll catch up soon.

Awesome game with Bram last night (is that you Johnnny G? I get mixed up), we rocked it

The game is so much fun right now. Quick match queues are about 20 seconds, barely any flaming, so many fun heroes to choose from I'm just spoilt for choice.

Been playing a lot myself, mostly AI just trying to finish the daily quest and unlock some more dudes/dudettes. Really having a good time with Junkrat and Malthael right now.

Just took Abathur for a spin. LOVE him/her/it!

That is a fantastic character, not just because of the unique playstyle but because he's actually relevant (i.e., played in high-level competition).

Abathur is the biz, my 2nd most played character:)

Abathur's such a great design. Shame I completely suck at him. He's also completely irrelevant on some maps. When I see an Aba on my quick match team on Braxis Holdout I figure I might as well go make a cup of tea. But when you get a good aba on your team he just seems to be everywhere.

Don't think I have you on my friends list dibs, I assume you play on EU servers?

That's me. Need to get my handles sorted out!

Yep, that team didn't know what hit them. Agreed that the game's in a really good place right now.

Also love Abathur, played him a lot at one point.

But I usually feel like having a lie-down after a game. The level of multi-tasking required is pretty nuts if he's played properly.

I added you:)

I broke and bought 25 lunar festival crates. Well, sexy Sylvanas skin is sexy....
That's the first time I've spent real money on loot crates in a game. I don't regret it. Yet.

In other news, it's early days but Maiev has released to a 66% win rate. That's downright busted.

it's like Christmas in February! Just by playing games I won a prize in their Summer event last year, 50 lootboxes. It's amazing how quickly you go through them, ain't it?

I'm curious what Hanzo's win rate was out the gate too as he was also overstrong on release.

I wasn't playing when he released so I'm not sure. The most over powered hero I can remember at release was Li Ming.

I can second Kergguz and I having a rough time against Maiev in back-to-back games last night.

My terrible Lucio play didn't help, though. Those Overwatch skills really don't translate well to a MOBA - who'd have thunk it!

Yeah Maiev is just plain broken. I'm avoiding quick match until she's fixed because she's so unfun to play against. After the third or fourth time of her decimating our entire team I just started running away when I saw her. A Maiev player won MVP in all 4 games I played last night. So, figure I'll practice a few heroes Vs AI for a couple of days.

Hey don't sweat the Lucio man, to be honest even if you'd been playing your main it wouldn't have made a difference last night!

Edit: just checked and her win rate is still 67% in quick match. I suppose she loses when there's a maiev on both teams!
