World of Warcraft: Legion (7.3.5 edition)

The only thing that bothers me about it is that your freshly boosted character is directed to Argus (and earning all your specs artifact weapons).
That being said I finally beat the 3 elites (threat Reduction quest) to move on to the next stages of the quest.
I had tried to tag team with others on the elites before but the timing never worked until this morning. Whine enough and ye shall receive I guess :)

Has someone who had only really casually LFR'd raids, Argus was pretty rough going right in when it opened up. It's definitely designed for already having a full set of raid gear.

Having had to do it on quite a few characters at this point, I'd say a good set of either crafted gear or regular mythic dungeon gear would suffice.

That and liberal use of the WQ group finder. Also using a tank spec for mounting up and getting around so you can't be unmounted.

You have to stay alert while on Argus. It's easy to go off cliff. Or fall into fel lava. Or ride into the middle of a pack of elites with everything on cooldown.

Not that I'd know anything about any of those things. *whistles*

So I have completed "You Are Now Prepared" but I am only halfway through friendly with Argus Reach and the Light faction. So I have no idea what to do next to meet the rep requirements for my newb void elves and lightforges

Okay so it looks like Argus is a gear check for freshly boosted 110's. So now i don't know whether to take my boosted rogue through the broken isles stuff or continue playing my 101-102 warrior and DH who are several quests in to Broken Isles already. I think I have my answer but the thing I worry about my dh is that once I complete all the Broken Isles bits, I won't be quite 110 and my gear won't be better than my rogue. (though it seems tanks have much less problems with the Argus gear check)

I’m kind of in the same boat. I burned out on WOW halfway through last expansion and so don’t have a finished110. That being said, it sounds like I would need to do a lot of backtracking anyways on a boosted 110.

Dont think it takes that long. A one day trip to Broken Isle ought to be enough. For the purchasable BoA gear + drop BoA gear. Most of the Argus content is free for all anyway, so things will get nuked down no matter how much you help. Get one of those Daily quest join addons.

It is really only for the first 1/3 maybe that you will have problem. At that point you unlock your space ship weapon that can kill anything in 20 ft every 2 minutes. Then you unlock a powerful mech (10 minute cooldown) that lasts until it dies or your next cinematic. You also get a lot of drops that boost your artifact power in the billions. I also hadn't down any of the starter garrison (class hall?) missions so that helps too.

I got a second legendary last night! For how relatively casual my play is, I'm pretty thrilled to have two of them now, Insignia of Ravenholdt (upgraded to ilvl 1000) and Kil'jaeden's Burning Wish (which has a rad fiery vortex ability).

After y'all recommended I jump into LFR, I've now cleared Emerald Nightmare, Trial of Valor, Nighthold, and Tomb of Sargeras on LFR. I'm still pretty wary of Antorus, though, as I don't see myself gearing up far enough any time soon. My current overall ilvl is 929.

Here's me, by the way: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/ch...

*edit* After some quick google searches, it looks like maybe ilvl 929 would be alright for Antorus... can anyone confirm?

Yeh plenty enough for normal I reckon

I think lots of world quests is the main thing. There should also be the occassional order hall mission that rewards rep tokens.

Bailed on an LFR at Argus. Full of toxic players. Ugh... For now I think I'll focus on finishing up story lines and getting exalted with Army of the Light so I can create a Lightforged Dranei. I'll go back to Antorus when folks are plenty geared up and it's a bit easier. I don't need runs like that one I had today in my life!

Those order hall missions are better than they first appear. The base reward you can see from the list view is only 250 rep, but the bonus reward you can get is 750. Even at Revered that's a pretty big chunk of the bar.

Don;t forget about the weekly missions from Iliidan and Tyrion for the crystals you can trade for gear. even if you're full of crystals completing the quest gives 1k of both argus reps

I *had* forgotten about those. If my wife is still chasing those reps I'll be sure to let her know.

I had too, and i had been avoiding them because I've been capped on that currency and outgeared the stuff you can buy with it for quite a while... now i'm struggling having just crested revered on both lamenting the 10k or so rep i let slip away.

Unless you have at least a 910 Arcanocrystal, that's still almost always worth chasing from Trinkets. If you're a physical DPS (So Melee/Hunter), a 910 Convergence of Fates is always worth chasing. That's really all I do with mine now is chase trinkets.

Annoyingly/Amusingly, I've had 2 Arcanos now from Relinquished, neither of which are on my main. XD

Hmm thats a good point, I guess I'll go spend my crystals. I main hunter.

I take it we get the quests from Illidan and Turalyon. But is there any indication that it is a weekly quest vs. a normal one? Are the quests completed in Argus or does it vary? (I think I may have already started one that took me to an area I had never been)

It is the one to gather 50 [something whose name I can't remember w a gold crystal icon) that drops from elites and world quests from turalyon, and the one to defeat three lesser invasion points from illidan. They refresh weekly

It's actually Yellow Exclamation points, and I don't know that you would know it's weekly without 'figuring it out' for yourself when they reappear every week after resets, sadly. Nothing else really points that out for some reason.

I got through Wings 2, 3 and 4 of Antorus this weekend. 2-3 were a breeze. Argus (the second and final boss of Wing 4) was brutal by comparison.

Phase 1: Several DPSers would die right off the bat, which removed any margin of error for the enrage timer.

Phase 2: A few folks would get hit by Soulbomb and fail to find the Avatar. (Our tanks were pretty good, tbh, and bailed me out several times when I got hit with Soulbomb.)

Phase 3: Eh, it just took too long. Our group DPS wasn't great.

Phase 4: We'd run out of time and reset.

By the fifth try (and with the +25 percent buff), we got Argus down. /flex

Argus isn't really the best boss for a below-average holy paladin (me) who overheals by ungodly amounts. But I helped keep the tanks alive, so there's that. And I out-DPSed a few folks (mostly the dead ones), which resulted in them getting kicked, so there was that, too.

P.S. The two Argus reps are much easier since 7.3.5. Remember that there's a DMF buff this week that gives you +10% to rep. It's super handy.

So I just realized I still have a 100 boost. What do you guys think about boosting my warlock? I’m having a lot of fun with destruction at lower levels but am not sure how that spec plays at max. Also, does it still make the most sense to level to 60 before boosting?

If you want the profession boost (make sure, obviously, that you pick up two professions before boosting from 60-100), yes, but if you're not chuffed (and I wouldn't be as it looks like BfA is going to be doing something of a reset on those too)... whenever is fine.

As for warlock, Destro is definitely decent fun at max. Demonology isn't bad either, it's just got a clunk or two too many for it to really be fun to play long term. Affliction is generally the go-to for raiding but if you're not worried about that, all three specs are more than fine for leveling/WQing, farming, etc...

Honestly IMHO you don't have to level to 60 before boosting. You will have plenty of time to go through all the kinks of your specs leveling from 100-110. You can do world quests and Broken Isles for that. You get access to quests to get your off spec artifacts at 102. (not hard at all)
I floundered a lot with my boosted 110 rogue but I've got the hang of her now and can be successful with all three specs though the winner is subtlety which was my least favorite at the start. (stealth + vanish healing ftw!)

My 100 boosted arms warrior and my 2 demon hunters (horde and alliance) have been so much easier to get the basics down. Respeccing talents in inns is a godsend for testing things out. Any self healing class will have a much easier time so when you are stumbling with your lock you will have to make judicious use of drain life or drain soul if you are affliction.

I make no bones about learning effectiveness in dungeons. That really can only come with experience though there are things like invasion portals and TBH a lot of the Broken Isles questing will introduce boss mechanics in a solo setting. (lots of elites to fight that change form, knock you around, teach the benefits of interruption, and positioning)

The profession boost is mostly worthless. You either aren't going to actually need those skill points to make the new items (Legion), or there will be catch-up mechanics that are much more efficient than leveling up on old content (Warlords).

So when can I realistically do some dungeons? I don't know that I want to because while I tend to play for longer than 2-3 hours a night, I have a demanding puppy and wife so that time is not uninterrupted.
Should I try to solo a lower level dungeon that will scale to lower than my level (say 90 or 80?)
Are there any dungeons that are good for speed running or require less time to complete?
The mech has really helped me take down world quest bosses/elites.
My current headache is finding runes(?) for my artifact. I have a couple of ones for my off specs but only one for my Subtlety weapons. Also the rep grind is so long. It would be one thing if we could get a small amount of rep per kill. At least I am now completing world quests instead of getting bored hanging out for others to kill the bosses.
I have been able to upgrade a few pieces of 910 armor from the crystals vendor. That and the stamina boost from leveling up your artifact weapon is helping.

I was soloing non-heroic Legion dungeons on my Blood DK before I ever started in on Argus. It took a long-ass time and I was forced to really learn what I was doing with the spec, but I could do it. If you're running around Argus with any class you should be able to hold your own in any normal or even heroic dungeon group.

fangblackbone wrote:

You're 110, right? Use the group-finder tool and do a heroic dungeon right now.

By this point, folks have completely outgeared heroic content. Unless you have terrible luck, your group will plow through a heroic in about 10-15 mins. If you're DPS, you'll probably wait in the LFR lobby longer than it takes to do the actual run.

If you're looking to grind rep, this is your week. You get +50 percent rep all week on WQs (through next Monday night).

Are there any dungeons that give rep for The Wardens? I'm getting close to having the requirements for flying but Wardens rep is still like 7k down.

It is just grinding daily WQs and making sure you complete the Wardens and Kir Tor Emissary caches to get the bonus Warden rep token.
