Some of the Greatest GIFs of All Time

None of which work right when converted from mp4 to gif....which makes the title kind of crap.

I mean, it would slow your approach. Maybe that's it's only purpose.

It's not really a gate, it's a cattle guard. Keeps cattle/sheep/deer/whatever in their fields, but you can still drive through. Pretty smart, actually. Assuming the livestock don't figure out how to pile up on the platform and lift the doors with their own body weight.

From the comments: "That gate will be useless when the Earth runs out of gravity."

Actually... [smartass comment follows]

The wooden grating on the ground that is used to activate the gate is what is called the cattle guard. Cattle instinctively avoid stepping on such grated surfaces, because they would break their ankles if they did. So, in essence, you don't need the fence part at all (assuming that this is to keep the cattle in). The cattle would never get that far anyways.

The main thing is that hoofed animals don't like walking on those slats with space between. You sometimes see something similar with what's basically a grate laid over a hole in the ground. There's no gate needed, because the cows won't walk on the grate. Looks like this adds the gate as an extra safeguard?

My number of my relatives in Alabama have small herds and those cattle guards are pretty standard. slats too narrow to comfortable rest a hood on (and rounded to the slide off) with opening wide enough for the hoof to slide in between. The cattle can really only take one step onto and its uncomfortable so they avoid it. I've always seen it as just the grate without a fence, or perhaps a single strand of electric fencing just to maintain continuity on the circuit.

There are cattle grids on the roads in Dirt 4, I always kind of wondered what they were.

As someone who is familiar with cattle guards (I may be a city boy but I still grew up in Oklahoma) it still makes the gate itself pointless.

This makes me happy.

That hair on Janeway. Nice.

I've been slowly re-watching Voyager over the last few months; I can't wait until I get to that episode!

Gifs that don't end how you expect.

I would watch baseball if seeing the players get attacked by tigers was a possibility.

Watch Detroit games and hope for someone to rush the mound?

It's only possible when Enrico Pallazzo is the umpire.
