Good thoughts for Phoenix Rev appreciated

I am glad to hear things are at least working out a little. I know it is a horrible situation some days so don't hesitate to use us as a safe place to vent, rant, etc.

Hoping all is well with Phoenix Rev and Rubb Ed, haven't seen an update since September, and wishing you both well.

Chiming in with likewise, don't think I've seen either posting here in ages so good thoughts for you both set to maximum.

I don't want to speak for them personally, but I know Rubb Ed is regularly posting on facebook (he's in my friends list).

Yeah, we've just been super-quiet on here. For me, it's mostly due to being super-busy with work.

Quicky update:

  • We moved to the Palm Desert area of California (Palm Springs - where the good gays go to die)
  • Zach's health isn't getting better, but we're closer to his family and his medical, which helps
  • We're together about 90% of the time (literally, since I work from home now)
  • Speaking of, I'm now a Business Intelligence support rep for work (promotion!)
  • November is our 9th wedding anniversary
  • My health ain't amazing, but I'm working on it
  • I'm trying to figure out a Twitch and/or podcast thing just to keep my mind off stress
  • I'm getting Gloomhaven whenever it ships (first Kickstarter I backed for a board game sight unseen)

Yay!

Thanks for the update Rubb. Give The Rev a big hug from me. Glad you guys are getting so much more time together, and added bonus with the better proximity to family.

Just came across this thread and am very sad to hear of the diagnosis, random problems, and other annoyances Rev and Rubb Ed have been facing.

I've however been heartened to see your incredible love for one another, the amazing support by the community, and Rev's ability to maintain a bit of humor throughout.

Wishing you guys many more good days together and the strength to carry on. Please keep us informed and lots of hugs to you both!

PS: Is the paypal account from page 5 and four years ago still active (seeing as how the Go Fund Me has closed)?

It is, but (*thankfully*) we're actually doing okay. I'm not saying we're flush with money, but between pay raises, moving to a cheaper part of California, and some long-needed budgeting zhuzhing that I've done, we're doing pretty well.

Thanks for the thoughts, AUs, but use that money to help out Dr. Awkward or someone else who's popped up in need, please.

Just wanted to take a moment and check in here, has anyone heard anything more recent on how things are going for PR and Rubb?

I can only speak for whatever occasionally pops up on my facebook feed - but on that note things seem to involve a lot of cool looking food, some sort of pen and paper RPG where everyone is an anthropomorphic dog(?) and the occasional photo of hirsute gentlemen with fabulous beards!

Or the Christmas video with big jiggly bellies doing lots of belly jiggling. It was pretty magical.

Oh lord. Really, Demo?

We're hanging in there. Survived our first summer in the desert of California (120+ F was... interesting), did winter, now summer seems to be creeping up on us again (really, 80 degrees in January?).

PR's not getting better. He's just not. I wish I could say he were, but... not the case. We're both just kind of dealing with it as things go. My health isn't amazing either, but I'm working on it, and (for the most part) mine's reversible to an extent.

But otherwise, yes, dancing, Pugmire (the RPG that pyxi mentioned), and beards, glorious beards.

I didn't know hot Santa-on-Santa action was a thing I needed in my life until now.

We appreciate that greatly. We've had people step away from us when PR got sick, and so it's rough-going some days.

I've never understood this quality in people. This is when they're needed the most.

+1 to the hug brigade from below the equator (and yes, you may take that as far out of context as you wish)

Oh well played, m0nk3yboy.
Thinking of the both of you as well, Rubb Ed, Phoenix Rev, and I’m sorry some have stepped away.
I hope you’re hanging in there, even though it’s rough. We may not be to do much, being so far away, but if we can help...
Take care of yourselves.

I'll jump on board this so you know there is no Australian East Coast / West Coast rivalry when it comes to big beardy man love coming your way Down Under.

Beards in summer. Youch,

You learn to deal with it. Besides, I have seen what I look like without a beard.

No. Thank you.

Well established beards can become part of your physiognomy.

When I grow a beard it just gets annoyingly itchy.

Mine did too when I first started growing it out long. Even now, there are times when it's like that. Just condition it a lot (I'd also consider buying beard oil/beard balm and using those) and the itch goes away.

Yup. didn't do much for making my beard go down rather than out in whatever direction it wanted Harry Potter's hair-like... but it never itched and it smelled pretty fantastic.

If you ever find something that does do that for you, let me know. My beard loves to fork if it gets more than four or five inches long.

Only thing I've found that works for getting it to grow DOWN is to blowdry it and use one of those round brushes to basically force it to go downward.

Note: I don't do this as a general rule, and thus I have poofy beard.

Over a year with no updates. Sometimes I just wonder how things are going.
