Guild Wars 2 Catch All

Dude, I was here for it. I know what happened and I don't fault people for leaving.

GWJ was a ghost town for months before any one of us left for ZoS. When I left I made damned sure a new leader was promoted (Eleima).

You're letting your disdain for their requirement to represent colour your perception of how few GWJers were on GW2 at the time.

I don't blame you or anyone for leaving, I do remember just how dead it was before people started leaving. ZoS's rule killed the few revival attempts there were. Anytime new people start playing, or old ones come back, they get directed to join ZoS. Many of them have fully left GWJ after joining ZoS, preventing GWJ from building up enough of a player base to do anything Guild related.

Sorry but i think nostalgia is clouding things for you. There has NEVER been enough even if you count the ones who completely left or dove by and came and went.

I hope that's helpful. This post may explain more of what went on in 2014.

Heh, I still find ZoS’s requirements creepy.

Oh whoops, I'd forgotten I was leader. I still log on from time to time, but I have to say that I haven't played the game all that much lately, GWJ or ZoS.

Though honestly, the only reason I moved to ZoS was because GWJ was a ghost ship by that point, particularly during the European hours I keep.

That's me, too. I stuck with GWJ for several years of on-again, off-again play, but I rarely saw another GWJ person online when I was. I finally went to ZOS when it was clear there was not going to be a resurgence.

And it turned out to be a really good group of people.

It's really surprising with as many people they have how many good folks are there.

We never were huge, but we had 20+ people participate in some of the guild events before it died down.

The game is actually very pretty if you don't let it try to auto-detect visual settings for you. I am averaging slightly above 70fps and have a few things dialed down to medium. Surprising given how old this game is!

The art design is something special. Almost a waste though as most of the game is spent looking at UI elements instead of the world. It's definitely important to stop and look around every now and then.

Well said! My favorite areas are The Pale Tree and Caledon Forest. I just have such vivid memories of emerging from the Dream and stepping out wide eyed into Tyria. I WAS that newborn Sylvari. This is the only game that would make me consider trying VR.

I went sylvari ranger so all I’ve seen is Caledonia Forest and the Grove so far. I rolled a human for all of 10 minutes before going back to the lush greenery of Caledon.

There's a whole new branch of reshade made specifically for GW2. Things like having to reload on every zone is removed and improved presets. It helps make the graphics not look dated.

ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
I don't know when you play, but if you @ me on Slack, I'd be thrilled to jump in and run with you. (if it's after 7pm EST, I can't make it because time zones).

Heh thanks for the offer, Eleima. I’m Pacific time and the earliest I’m online during the week is 9pm.

Oh yeah, that's gonna be rough. 9pm for you is 6am for me. How about this weekend?

Weekends in general would be great. I think I need to make GW2 a weekend game anyway. This Sat. is iffy but provided I can get online later Sunday morning that should be a more practical hour in your neck of the woods.

Sounds like a plan.

I hear you, Maclintok. I usually don't get online until 9:30 pm pacific time. That said, if you see me online, then hit me up. I'd be happy to tool around doing whatever.

You guys are on too late for East Coast me, or I'd join you. Have fun though!

I’m Europe, Robear, so I’m six hours ahead of you. I can be in roughly between 7pm and midnight during the weeks when I’m “off” kid duty, which is 1pm - 6pm your time. Weekends can be more flexible.

That's workable on weekends, Eleima! Look me up.

Are any of you on Slack? That would probably make it easier to coordinate. We could have a GW2 channel? I won't be around on Saturday because I'm exiling myself to the library or a Starbucks to do my GOTY write up, but perhaps we can sync up on Sunday?

I'm not, but I could be.

Right this way then, good sir!

I'm only in the GWJ Discord but I'll look into Slack, too.

I am also active in GW2, but mostly with my own casual guild. Feel free everyone here to add me (Aerthos.8012) and hit me up when you see me online. Mostly mornings during the week and then weekends (GMT-6/Chicago time zone).

Sylvari++, makes Heart of Thorns that much better.
