Dragonfall is short. According to my Steam play time, it took me 14.3 hours to finish. What are we gonna do for the rest of the 3 months?

My thinking on this is twofold:

First, this isn't going to be the only game I play, so a shorter game is somewhat preferable.

Second, since it's the end of January already, we could take a couple months to play Shadowrun at a leisurely pace, see how the club gets along, find out what works and what doesn't, then start a new game around the first of April to get onto a more sensible quarterly schedule. As it is, it'll be a bit odd to run from late January to late April.

A shorter, smaller game makes a good trial balloon for these kinds of games clubs, in my experience.

Good points all around. Just a few to add...

Maybe we don't always have to be "on". If we play a game for a month and a half, then go quiet for a bit while we play other things, that could be fine, if that's what we'd like to do.

I kind of like the idea of being off from the JRPG schedule. So if they start Jan/Apr/Jul/Sep and we started Feb/May/Aug/Oct, that might be a good thing.

Mostly though, I think the calendar/system should serve us, rather than the other way around. So if we play our first game, have a good time, and want to play something else starting in early April rather than waiting 3 full months, that's fine. Let's break/adjust/tweak/refine things to maximize fun.

Shadowrun!

(I just realized I own the wrong Shadowrun, but $2.99 is latte price).

I hear you on the short game to kick things off part, it was more the "this is the game until the end of April" part I was less sure of.

Well, if anyone feels the same, or finishes Dragonfall by mid-February and is twiddling their thumbs, they can join me in running through all 3 games.

i ran through the vanilla campaign not long ago, but if I get through Dragonfall early, I could do with replaying the Hong Kong campaign too. There's a bunch of side-mission stuff there I skipped first time through.

I own neither, but would pick up Dragonfall at that price, so that's my vote.

A shorter game is also a good trial run for me given the demands of my super easy-going 15 month old.

Yeah, one thing I kind of like about the game clubs is playing at a pace that allows for reflection and discussion.

Shadowrun sounds good to me. Really nearly any game on this list would have been fine as I own them and have never finished them.

Both!

I'm home from work, not feeling well. Not up to much expect maybe a vidya game. Anyone mind if I go ahead and start Shadowrun?

Baldur’s Gate: EE for me! Although Clocky makes some very good points.

I actually just installed a bunch of mods for BG:EE in case it got chosen, including what I assume is the NPC mod you did some Translation for? so I'm tempted to run through this as well on my own time to see what's different!

I...might have already played through the prologue again earlier today *innocent whistle*

One thing to note - for those who don't already know, and who might want to customise your character portraits before you start playing, you CAN actually add your own custom portraits to the game even though it's not officially supported for some BIZARRE reason (you just have to backup then override one of the relevant portraits in the source folder for the game), e.g:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut\Dragonfall_Data\StreamingAssets\ContentPacks\berlin\art\portraits

(make sure you get the right folder if you have more than one of the shadowrun games installed)

and then backup one of the images you want to replace, e.g. pc_elffemale_02c_samurai.png
Crop your preferred image to a 212x278 .PNG and then save it over the old name.
(make sure that the image you are renaming is of the preferred race and gender for your character)

Bingo! Custom character portrait.

Shadowrun for me.

Shadowrun gets my vote as well. Gotta finally use that kickstarter backer key!

I played about 1/2 of Shadowrun Returns (the first game) about 3 years ago. Maybe I’ll actually go ahead and finish it finally before jumping into Dragonfall (assuming it wins ).

Almost halfway through the tiebreaker. Shadowrun is starting to pull away. Official news outlets have yet to call the election, but the Game Club Monitoring Alliance estimates that Shadowrun has a 74.7% chance of winning at this point. Reps from the Baldur's Gate campaign have yet to concede, however. "We were down by 50% early in the first round as well, and came back to tie. Supporters of Baldur's Gate are notoriously late risers. We expect a surge in support and for the race to go down to the wire."

Deckers hacked the election.

Baldurs Gate won in the states that matter.

It should be clear by now that Icewind Dale was the real winner. Feel the frostbern.

Yup, that's the one!!! It's a *BIG* mod, with a banter pack (characters spoke very little in the vanilla game), quests and interjections and full romances with Ajantis, Branwen, Coran, Dynaheir, Shar-Teel and Xan. We were quite a few translators working on this, because it's just so freaking huge. I onyl worked on the Xan romance, interjections and quests.

Last call for votes! Bueller?

Unless something changes dramatically in the next hour or so, I'm thinking we'll just call it over and be off with Shadowrun!

Yeah, Baldur's Gate concedes. Let's get this show on the road.

Thread is up here. Have fun all!

I already installed Shaowrun in anticipation. Let’s do this.

Love this idea. I'm in!

Cross posting for anyone that doesn't have this month's game:

Timely deal on the Shadowrun Triple Pack

Welcome welcome! Our staff is processing your application now, and you should see your name show up in the first post shortly.

There is plenty of time to join in on the first game if you'd like. A lot of people are still in the very beginning stages, and it'll go on for a while.

Nice! Thanks for posting that. Less than 24 hours left, so it's a quick window.

Jumped on that deal just to get Hong Kong at a discount - PM me if anyone needs a key for Dragonfall or Returns.

Long time lurker, but would love to join in with this!

Awesome, glad to have you aboard! If you can join in our current Shadowrun playthrough, you'd be most welcome.

I'm interested.
