The Magicians [SyFy series]

Penny has become one of my favorite characters on TV.

His little conversation at the table with Alice was great. Want them to be best pals forever.

I was shocked at how much I enjoyed Julia and Quentin getting over their sh*t and going on their little journey.

Yeah I'm surprised how quickly Julia went from someone I kinda hated to someone I was rooting for. Her and Quentin being together for this is really great. And hopefully Penny has whipped Alice into shape. I'm hoping she starts to act like the supergenius we're told she is instead of just mopey wizard girl.

The part that shocked me was that Quentin was on the screen and I wasnt wishing one of those big cartoon stage hooks would yank him out of frame, never to return.

I'm always down for more Julia.

So, is episode 12 the finale? I've been watching the series and have been a little meh on it, but episode 12 was absolutely incredible. Just finished it.

Looks like they have 13 episodes this season, it ain't over yet!

On a related side note, I really like the music in the show. Not just the soundtrack of songs from earlier episodes (which is great) but the score as well. It's a really subtle score but I find it really compelling and it fits the show perfectly.

You're not the only one. Count me as another fan of the OST.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Can't believe we have to wait a year. That was a pretty messed up episode but mostly good with a few slow parts. I'm going to have to start on the books in the meantime.

Well that got dark or darker. I had a feeling that one scene was fake but damn. The build up was slow but ending was pretty good. No idea if everyone will get out alive. Seeing that the Dean survived after the beast attacked him I guess a certain character could also survive the beast attack.

I'm not sure what it is with this show. On the one hand it is really kinda stupid. The presentation, writing and pacing are pretty bad. But then again, I like the characters and the concepts and where it's all going. It's sort of like a B-movie, the quality may be lacking, but it really appeals to my leftover inner teenager.
I will most definitely be watching next season.

Yikes!

Spoiler:

I certainly didn't expect semen would be a major player in the season finale. "Yikes!" on both accounts.
Those gods are messed up.

Pretty much disagree with all this, I think the writing and presentation are pretty good and the show is getting good reviews all around so it's really not that bad. It even got me started on the book, which so far is really different.

I agree RG. Really enjoyed the characters, acting and premise. I have NOT picked up the book yet because I've read the characters are hard to like and I'm not sure I want to make a commitment to that.

They aren't likable in the show, so that shouldn't be a problem for me.
Well, no, that's not true. I kinda like Eliot.

I'm on ch 7 and so far in the book they seem more likable than the show, or at least equal to the show. Most of the characters are described a little differently, physically but that's to be expected. Except Elliot, I think the casting nailed him.

Totally agree. Most of the characters are practically unlikable. They all have endearing moments but mostly they're annoying, stupid, or Female Doggoy. Despite this I think the show's world any mythology are interesting enough to look past the character flaws. And the story just goes in directions I hadn't imagined.

The latest episode of The Magicians is very, very strange. I mean, stranger than usual.

Annd it's getting dumber by the episode. Unfortunate. Bank heist really didn't work for me. Really not enjoying every episode having a last minute forced cliffhanger.

Aww, I liked bank heist the most out of season 2 so far.

I'm really liking Season 2 for the most part, and think they continue to do a very good job expanding on the events of the book in a way that fits with the tone/theme/characters. I especially liked the bank heist, although I have to say, it would've played better as the fun romp that I think they were going for if its purpose wasn't paying for an abortion for the rape-induced pregnancy (which is a pretty grim subplot all around).

It's back, baby!

Yeah, I'm waiting for Prime or Netflix this time. Season 2 made me cautious.

Finally got caught up on episodes. I was watching two or three a day to get caught up. The singing episode was great and that blue dress was on point.

I didn't see the ending to The Fox coming. I was surprised the god gave her a choice at all. I can think of a few reasons for it though.

Funny thing about Julia. I never thought of her as attractive until season 3. I think it was the singing up the stairs scene with Q that did it for me. Still like the librarian lady the best.

It is funny how everyone is a A hole on the show. Even the ship is a A hole.

Those fairies, man do I want to see them die. I really like that storyline. Log baby was funny and sad. Oh and the part where the king and queen were talking in code had me dying.

Still loving the show.

I knew that time accident would be cleared up soon but didn't know how far they would go with it.

Those gods are jerks.

Penny's girlfriend was way out of line. Take some responsibility.

All around a good episode but fairies are getting gold.

Nice use of silence. Maybe even on par with the Buffy episode that used it.

Though I'm a little confused on the ending. I know they are playing around with time.

Spoiler:

I'm confused about the mirror bridge being shattered but Q being able to escape through it. Why didn't the girl keeping the bridge open leave when Q and friend came through.

Oh wait I guess she was waiting for the daughter.

Oh man tonights episode was dark. I don't think Penny should have eaten that cupcake.

This season is turning out pretty darn good.

Spoiler:

Captain hops. Rabbit vegetable smugglers. LOL
