Also something to note on stash size. You can start buying containers that artificially enhance it. Like will fit 5X10 worth of weapons in 5X2 spot. However, again these are once you level up quite a bit.
Ok so if you put stuff in the gamma crate you don't lose it? Do you lose the crate if it isn't insured?
Eschew - thanks for the tips. Game is unforgiving but I'm enjoying it immensely. Reset my profile today to start fresh after learning things the hard way :). Wish they'd get more stable servers.
You do not lose your gamma crate ever as long as you keep it equipped in it's slot (which you have no reason to ever move it)
As far as servers. This PR boost and giving a bunch of new streamers increased player base by like 5 times. They said they already ordered new servers. I can state there were bugs and all that, but I had 0 server issues December 26-28th before the free passes went out.
Game is good but so so unforgiving. Ready for my next reset already.

Once you learn the loot spots etc. honestly you can make a ton of money just going in with hatchet. I would say my have made more money going in with no weapon than I have going in with weapons.
Important to note when you go in with nothing don't play like you have something to lose. Run, get to places ASAP, Ignore Scavs. Just get places get the loot in your alpha/beta/gamma containers.
Is there a place where people are meeting up or is this played more solo?

I have not been getting on anywhere but i'm always up for some company. I normally play EST evenings, I'm good anytime between 7 p.m. - midnight normally (although somewhere about 8:30- 10p.m. ish I usually play a bit of PUBG/Warframe with Crinkle. New baby so he is very time sensative) Pretty sure we are on Steam if not add me on steam and hit me up.
I'm SpyNavy in game. I need to really learn where the loot is. Right now I primarily play Shoreline because Factory is just a slaughter for me.
Welp, I was a bozo and took on the first Skier task without knowing it was timed. Figured that the Fort Armor would be the hardest item to procure, so loaded up an ak74U and went into Factory. Focused on Scavs, and stayed away from the popular player spots. Was able to pop a scav with fort armor with a headshot, and made my way out. Turned it in to keep inventory space more clear, then started searching for the helmet. I had class all day and evening today, so when I got on tonight I only had 2 hours to find a helmet. I ran woods and got some good PMC kills, but no helmet. I did catch one player scav sprinting through the woods, and dropped him. He had fort armor! I was then promptly hunted down. Figure he spawned in with the armor, saw it, then started booking for an exit.
So, I'm going to lose some cred with Skier for failing this task. I'll work on collecting the helmet and armor before I take it on again.
I haven't even bothered with tasks yet. Still trying to learn the maps. I'm getting wicked stutters and freezes at times. Any graphic settings suggestions. I suspect playing in a team would be pretty cool as well.
I misread the timer on that task, and I still have like 37 hours to complete it! There's the number of days plus the hours in the time indicator. I was only looking at the time indicator and not days. I guess I'll be continuing to do runs on Woods looking for that Kiver helm. I don't think I've seen one in any of my play time at all yet, and it doesn't seem like a lot of folks load into the game with them. I'll just keep hoping a scav randomly spawns with one....and that I can escape after finding it.
As far as playing with others, I gave my 7 day trial key to a buddy during the stress test, and it was a very different game for sure. Where I was having little luck surviving a pistol run on woods, we were able to extract twice.
I need to learn the Woods map as well. It looks like it could be fun.
As far as graphic settings. I run most things on low and I get pretty high FPS that said I have i7/1080 so not a great benchmark depending on your PC. I also run low on any PvP shooter because 99.9% of them lower settings gives you competitive edge.
Maps - Ignoring quests obviously you need to do some maps for some quests.
Factory - Fast paced, small heavy PvP.
Customs - Pretty linear but had a lot of good loot once you learn where. If you hatchet run and safely get out of starting area can be pretty profitable. Lots of keys that help make it more profitable (most of which can be found on this map)
Woods - This map i think i would recommend the least when learning because spawns are pretty close and a lot of high geared players go to fight. There is some good loot on map but mainly focused in one area.
Shoreline - Lots of geared players here but the map is huge and sooooooo much good loot. Takes time to learn/where etc but if you are simply looking for gear one of hte better places.
Personally I'd say Customs/Shorelines what you should learn first. Shoreline has less quests (until very end brand new peacekeeper ones) however has more weapons crates than any other map by far.
Thanks for the advice, any you tubers you recommend for advice and map tips?

Honestly, I have not watched much youtube. I know Kotton/Sequisha both post video's though and they are streamers I like. Kotton is one of the better players and been playing for 6 months plus I would start with him.
Added you in game although I did not even know it had a friends list before lol. Hit me up i'll gladly go on some runs and show you the basics of the maps.
Have not see maps of other ones as good as this one but here is a great shoreline map

Love that 3d map! I saw a customs version while browsing reddit, or maybe the forums, today.
I've been sitting in Sequisha's streams as much as I can while working on homework etc. Enjoying his content. Sheriff Eli, of GTA Roleplay fame, has really taken to EFT, and I've been enjoying his streams as well.
As esher77 said with regards to a map to learn, Customs is where I started. Just doing axe runs to start to get a feel for scav spawns, and loot areas. Kotton's Customs Guide was very beneficial.
Those are great. I think EFT is going to be a fixture for me for awhile which I can't really explain. It's scratching some itch even in its current state and my abysmal skill level.

I couldn't have said it better. Something about it.
So, I had time last night for one more scav run before my skier Task for a Kiver Helmet and Fort Armor ran out. I ran around woods and didn't stumble into any fellow scavs with a Kiver, so extracted with what I had. Next run I went to Customs to kill scavs for a Therapist task, and took down a scav with a Kiver and managed to extract with it, but I was too late to turn it in. -.1 favor with skier, and a wasted set of fort armor. Oh man, that hurt.
Oh well, I have the Kiver, and once I score another set of Fort Armor, I'll just kick off the task and turn those in right away.
Moral of the story, study up on the tasks offline before setting off to do them in game.

That and Fort Armor is pretty much most valueable thign in game. Only high level thing you can't just buy. You need to turn in 7 gold chains or get it off scav (super rare) or another player.
Made me think for you guys a list of some of the stuff (sure forgetting some) you need for tasks to keep an eye for earlier.
Found one here
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
I have started keeping extra of some stuff i can give up though
Currently have 5 gas analyzers
2 usb
3 Tushonka
10 morphine
and I have all traders fully leveled so i can buy a lot also
Escher,
Tried to reply but it says Im in your ignore list

Thats weird add me on steam
I think I have a hoarding issue.
Yeah I have the EoD version as well and I have a hoarding problem as well. I had an 11 kill game tonight. It was pretty damn fantastic but I didn't get to loot because I had 90 seconds to get out. I wish the performance was better, it's pretty bad even for a beta. Still some of the most compelling shooters I've played in a long time. Definitely a game that relies as much on smarts and tactical placement as twitch skill.

Yeah, I had a bad death last night where i'm getting shot no sound at all, just taking random damage then I die. I know it's because desync and my body is somware else. However, losing full gear with fort armor when you don't even get to fight feels bad.
This is how it was like 6 months ago. Before the new year this stuff wasn't happening and it was pretty good until the big PR wave and free codes went out. Ever since then been pretty crappy. They said they ordered servers 2 weeks ago so here is to hoping they get them up in a reasonable time frame. I also don't like not being able to do Factory/Customs during peak hours.
This game looks very good. I’m about one more days worth of YouTube bids away from pre-ordering. Couple of questions: basic entry OK, or will extra storage (specifically the extra safe-case space) really worth the money? What happens if you’re horrible and you lose all your gear? I hear a lot about running with just an axe to grind gear (assuming off the scavs?)... do you always have an axe? I’m just wondering if there is a true “failure” mode where you be so bad at video games where you lose all your get and can’t get anymore.

The overall Stash space - Value in $ hard to say. As far as the space it is kind of nice. I don't think you need the top one but one of the medium ones would be nice just so you can store all the stuff you want. Above i'm a bit of horder but you don't need to be. On release they have stated there will be ways to grow your stash with in game quests but they are not there.
Container - Alpha 2 X 2/Beta 2X3/Gamma 3X3. Now this is not necessarily pay to win but it certainly is a bit of pay to lose less? I think biggest part this helps if when you are going in with little gear and you just run in to make Cosme money. More slots to throw some stuff in is nice. However do note that 1. you can buy a beta container. I can buy one now and give them out. They are expensive early game, not once you hit late game. Also a very hard quest to compelte but one of the final quests you can earn a Epsilon case which is 2X4. Pretty much as good as Gamma and in some ways because of shape better.
Free Gear - Meaningless. You will lose/gain this stuff so far it doens't matter.
Money - it is so easy to make money once you learn what to do with nothing but a hatchet.
Traders Rep - This is really nice. By default you get 20 favor with the traders. Now you can get this easily through quests but just lets you kind of start a leg up. That beign said only early on is rep issue with traders. Once you learn the quests normally XP levels is the issue.
As far as running broke. Don't worry about this. 1. I can teach you to earn money with no gear 2. Supposedly they have like Tarkov welfare. So you if you less than 150k worth of ruppies worth of gear/money in your inventory you get some. You can buy a basic low end gun, full setup for well less than 150k. Not to mention you can go in an scav and earn gear every 30 min.
Overall I think worth depends on person. However, do note you can always upgrade. I started with lowest, and then over time upgraded to best. It does take an account reset but this is not a big thing when you are starting out. No reason to buy the biggest one before you try it out some.
Yup, can't add much to Escher's input except to say that I'm staying at the bottom tier for now. Maybe once I'm done with school in June, and after kiddo number three arrives, I'll take a look at upgrading. Otherwise, having a smaller cache size is not hindering me so much that I don't enjoy the game. Securing a keybar to hold keys, and eventually a wallet help immensely with the smaller starting alpha case. I've been loading up a tier one loadout for many of my raids(AK74U, Lowest tier helmet to protect from hatchets, and lowest tier armor from Fence), and have sprinkled in hatchet and scav runs. I did put a fair amount of time in on Customs doing hatchet runs to find the Customs key for one of Prapor's tasks, and that gained me a fair amount of money until I finally did find the key. Currently I'm not losing any money, but gaining and sitting at just under 1 mil rubles.
Escher, that cache is a sight to behold! You've been putting in some work.

That last sentence all but sold me by itself. Thank you so much. You as well, Druid.
