Rosen and Darnold both declare for the draft, putting to rest any "don't come out to avoid Cleveland" scenarios.

It's looking like a good year to have a top ten pick and not need a QB.

Dammit. Yet again, three days after the season ends, and I'm already thinking about the draft.

I think it's more a case of they can't draft both of us!

I'm guessing they're going to run in opposite directions and hope the Browns can't catch them. I mean, it's the Browns. I think the odds are with Rosen and Darnold, tbh.

Here's something else you can ponder: Who's going to be on "Hard Knocks"?

Apparently there are only six eligible teams: Baltimore, Cleveland (!!!!!!!!!!!!) Denver, LA Chargers, San Francisco and Washington. (source)

Teams that have been on the show before, have new head coaches or have been in the playoffs in the past two seasons aren't eligible, according to the story.

I would totally hate-watch Hard Knocks if DC were on there.

Note: that "eligibility" for the show only means the teams who the league can compel to be on the show, regardless of if they want to or not. Any team can volunteer to be on the show.

The 49ers have told the league that they don't want to be on the show. Which doesn't mean that they won't be forced on (given that they're one of the six the league can compel), but they're putting it out there.

SF will be on the show because Jimmy G. And yes, I'm serious. There's going to be a full offseason of serious hype to build on.

Rumor: Some teams see Josh Rosen as "having an RG3 personality", and don't like it.

According to sources who have spoken with people close to Rosen, he has been focused since high school on using football to make money and support the type of lifestyle he wants. He’s OK with challenging the system and being a mouthpiece for divisiveness because he appreciates the attention it draws.

Man the draft QB rumor mill is in full swing already.

They're in the playoffs and still snarking on Mularkey.

EDIT: Ooh, more:

Damn, Green Bay not done firing people:

Offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt

Apparently they also let go of their inside linebackers coach and defensive line coach, which makes sense seeing as they fired DC Dom Capers.

Mike McCarthy says he's calling plays next year, which I think is like the 7th time he's "gone back" to calling plays during his time in Green Bay.

If you haven't seen the NFL Turning Point version of the Week 17 Ravens-Bengals game, you should watch it. (Sorry, but it's a FB video; that's the only link I can find.)

Say what you want about Andy Dalton and his dopey haircut, but that throw of his was -- dare I say it? -- elite.

Congrats again to the Bills (aka Panthers North).

The best part that the video didn't show was the Ravens' last play on offense:

4th and 14 at BAL 23
(0:24 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Flacco pass short middle to B.Watson to BLT 36 for 13 yards (V.Rey).

Yup, Flacco threw it short of the first down.

ESPN will soon be publishing a story about the circumstances that led to the Garoppolo trade, which appears to be part of a "rift" within the Patriots organization.

The implication appears to be that Bill Belichick had intended to move on from Tom Brady after this season. Brady found out and went to Robert Kraft, who stepped in and forced the Garoppolo trade to happen, taking away Belichick's intended replacement.

The issues here seem to go beyond simply the future of the team's QB position. Bruce Allen of Boston Sports Media Watch characterizes the upcoming report's topic as, "a power struggle among the trio as to who deserves the most credit for the dynasty."

Details are light at this point, but apparently ESPN plans wall-to-wall coverage of the report and reactions once it drops.

Circling back around to Jimmy G, considering how well he has played, it certainly seems plausible that Belichick might have wanted to move forward with Garoppolo. I'd bet that nothing Garoppolo has done with the 49ers has been any sort of surprise to Belichick. And frankly I buy Robert Kraft being loyal to Brady instead. So if the report does say what is being hinted at, it will be surprising that it's gotten that far, but not shocking in the nature of the issues.

I'm not sure if I buy it.

Seems to be somewhat plausible but being trumped up to make a huge story.

Tom Brady is 41 next season. How much longer can he feasibly play? Heres a screw ball. Steelers don't cut Harrison, Pats don't trade Jimmy. Harrison cripples Brady in AFC championship game. Jimmy wins SB MVP. Every other football fan enters dark miserable hole that is already deeper than it currently is. I threw Harrison back on the Steelers because it makes for a better 30/30 that ESPN is trying to make.

Couldn't the Pats kept Jimmy this off-season? Here's decent money and you're in the second old man Brady gets popped. I just think of how quickly Manning went from playable to not. I don't think Brady is immune to that.

And it's not like he threw the ball 13 yards either. Like it says, "short middle". He threw the ball 6 yards to Watson running a shallow pattern after a chip-and-release, and Watson had to run it the other 7 yards into a cluster of four Bengals defenders.

Man, between this and the Trump book there's going to be some heavy duty reading over the weekend.

Alright so I got curious and had to go look at this play beyond the TV highlight that I had seen, and, well, here's me mumbling over it for 8 and a half minutes, in case you wanted to see why I won't attempt podcasting again. But, spoiler alert, I don't think this one is entirely on Flacco, for once:

Y'know, I see Seth Wickersham's article today, and I still expect the Patriots to win the damn Super Bowl anyway.

Yeah, the fallout isn't going to be this postseason, but after it.

This is why McDaniels is out there more seriously as a HC candidate, and Matt Patricia too. I think the people that have opportunities elsewhere are gonna jump ship while their value is still high.

The Chiefs took Mahomes out to let Tyler Bray get some work. bray proceeded to fumble the snap and it was returned for a TD. Then he had a three and out, throwing an incomplete pass. Denver proceeded to score again, to tie the game with just under 3 minutes left.

Andy reid then put Mahomes back in for the 2 minute drive to win the game. He competed 4 of 6 for 52 yards to get into FG range. Then they ran Sausage (Anthony Sherman) 3 times for 13 yard, and one 4 yard rush by Mahomes, to drain the clock. Butker wins the game with a 30 yard FG, 27-24.

Chiefs!

:drink:

A little something for you, Jayhawker:

You lost me at "8 and a half minutes," buddy. I'm the guy who got mad when Twitter doubled its character limit because I could barely get through 140. Still can't.

What were we talking about?

Anyhoo (and way off topic), do you follow Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) on Twitter? He does 30- to 60-second analysis of All 22 clips. Yesterday, he did several on Alvin Kamara. It's simple but good.

17 years is a long time to work with someone. Whether it's in the NFL or an office. Not surprising there's tension there. It will be an interesting off season.

As far as Garoppolo not sure what you could have done differently. He's a free agent next year and was never going to sign with the Pats again unless Brady was gone. Personally I'd rather have a few more chances at the SB with Brady than the unknown of Jimmy G in a playoff run. They should have traded him last year when they could have got a #1 for him.

I liked your video, Legion.

Looks like Lamar Jackson will have a failed NFL career because he will probably get drafted by the Browns.

Watchability Rankings (wild-card round)
1. Panthers-Saints (4:40 p.m. Sun)
* Yeah, I'm biased. But you have a pretty good D going against a good O. Something's gotta give.

2. Rams-Falcons (8:15 p.m. Sat)
* I'm hoping to see Matt Ryan sacked 12 times and Julio Jones go to 300 receiving yards. I also hope the Rams win 50-0. All of those things could happen! Also, Todd Gurley.

3. Titans-Chiefs (4:35 p.m. Sat)
* If Sept/Dec Chiefs show up, I'm all in. If Oct/Nov Chiefs are playing, I'll pass, thanks.

4. No game
5. No game
6-10,000. No game
10,001. Bills-Jags (1 p.m. Sun).
* I will rank this game in the top 10 if PETERMAN plays for the Bills. Otherwise, meh.
* Random true fact gleaned from Wikipedia: PETERMAN was born in ... Jacksonville, Fla.

It wouldn’t have shocked me that Bellacheat would dump Brady after this year for Jimmy. With his ego I’m sure he thought ownership would back him on that decision. Guess he thought wrong.

I think he is going to be solid starter next year, and still has the potential to be special (or, you know, "elite"). I think KC could really use a big, tall, go up and get whatever gets thrown his way receiver. That's the kind of guy that can take advantage of Mahomes gunslinging, being able to be an even bigger target for Mahomes to hit when the pocket crumbles. Of course, that's Kelce, right now.

Regardless, I'm feverous, because no QB is a sure thing, ever. But he seems like the right guy for Andy Reid to build around going forward. Throw in the cap savings and draft picks that trading Alex Smith can bring in, and I think everything is working out perfect.

Well, unless Alex Smith goes to Clark Hunt to whine, and then Hunt instructs Brett Veach to trade Mahomes. That would be a monumental amount of dysfunction.

Wow, Raiders giving Gruden a 10 year contract. Is up and coming coaching talent so bad that we need to keep regurgitating these same guys every few years or are teams just afraid to take risks?

The real question is will the Raiders keep Jon Gruden for 10 years.

OH HAI LOOK HOO FORGT TEH WYLD CRAD WEEKND THRAD

Uh, Wild Card weekend thread and all.

HAhahahahaha!! No.

I would say the over/under is 3 years, maybe 4.
